There's a three Issue tie-in comic: Flashpoint Batman: Knight of Vengeance, where it explains the depth of Thomas's role as Batman and more about Martha becoming Joker.

This movie is the first in the DCAMU, an animated DC connected universe series that began with Flashpoint and continues next with Justice League: War.
edit: Also I feel I should note that it was Thawne who killed Nora Allen, and Flashpoint Batman did have a comic tie in story where he fights his Joker.
You got so much in between this and Apokolis War. Like Son of Batman and all that. Respectfully so, we can't just skip all that, with establishing characters

Grifter isn't Red Hood. He's his own character from WildC.A.T.S., a comic by Wildstorm. This event folded the Wildstorm universe into the DC universe.
When I first saw him he felt like he was flashpoint’s universe version of Red Hood. We just say Red Hood because we seen the mask so many times that we see Grifter all we can think about red hood because Grifter’s mask looks so similar.
Its a shame DC never brought back the show .He's a cool character.

The "low tier" villains are called the rouges. They are technically anti villains who have the respect of the flash. They just want to steal and they have a moral code. That wasn't mr freeze its captain cold
I could go on for HOURS about the Rogues. But I'll just share my favorite story for now. This was during the Wally West (third Flash) era. Wally's identify was public at the time. Anyway, it was Captain Cold's birthday, and out of nowhere, Wally and his wife show up. Cold is naturally pissed that his arch enemy would crash his birthday party, until Wally revealed he'd been invited. Cold went off about how none of them would have invited him...until a thought occurred to him. Everyone slowly looked over at Trickster (The first one, Janes Jesse, the one Mark Hamil played) who was giggling to himself, saying he thought it would be funny. Cold just glared at him for a minute, then told Wally to grab a seat, grab a beer and some cake. And thus Flash celebrated the leader of his Rogues Gallery's birthday with him. The following day they'd be back at each other's throats, but for that night they all just hung out. They knew Wally wouldn't start anything, and Wally was secure enough that it wasn't a trap that he brought his wife along. As Cold once said in Blackest Night "The Rogues don't kill women and children"
@@TheKyrix82 I remember either it was a tv show episode or a comic but one time in a Flash story it was Christmas and the Rogues helped make or deliver toys or something, Flash asked them why and one of them said along the lines of "I don't want to be some kids origin story" pretty much "I may be evil but I am not gonna make someone else evil"
@@BaconNuke Probably a comic. They did something similar in Justice League with the Ultra Humanite. He basically helped Flash get a toy to sone orphans.
Either way, for the most part, the Flash's villains are utter scumbags. They're unapologetic criminals, and most are murderers, but they aren't cartoonishly evil. Like, murder for the sake of murder isn't allowed. And the Rogues don't kill womenband children. That's one of the reasons Wally had a publuc identity for so long. His family, friends, and co-workers were off limits to the Rogues. It took Hunter Zolomon becoming Zoom and making his wife miscarry the twins to change that. He finally had an enemy that would attack his family
The Rogues are KINDAAA zeroes, but they're some of The Flash's most popular villains so, eh.
Most them are, like, D tier comic book villains, but A tier Flash villains.

Heatwave is like C Tier-B tier since hes gained popularity from CW, but for the most part, Captain Cold is pretty loved even outside of just being a Flash villain so I'd say he's B-A Tier

Fun fact: While Thomas became Batman, and Martha became Joker, they do have a truce. On the night when Bruce died, they meet in Crime Alley over the spot where he died, and they spend the night in silence mourning his death.

Seems about right with what the joker would do-only difference is that regular joker does what he does to mess with Batman, while martha’s joker doesn’t seem to have a target since she went insane by her son’s death. Thomas Batman just seems to be there.

If you are interested, Invincible is even more brutal and definatelly worth watching, imo. Also, it might be good for you to watch a bit of the CUU shows, like "The Flash" for example, for a little more context.

I seriously recommend against watching the flash CW's show aside from S1 and S2, they were good, but the show have really dropped the quality later

Honestly, there are a lot of things this movie doesn't really explain. Most of it is just small details that don't really matter. Like, you won't be confused if you don't know who Captain Atom is. But, I feel like the movie doesn't provide much context for Reverse Flash as a villain. He's not in the movie much, but still. He's one of my favourite comic book villains. So, if you want to know more about him, season one of the Flash TV show on CW is a great story with him as the villain. But, you know, that's a big investment in time. But, I do think at least the first season is well worth a watch.

Agreed. Never really cared for RF but the cw version of him was actually very well written to the point of being scary. Too bad cw went downhill years after.

So here’s a dumb fun fact: the penny came from an old, and I mean OLD, comic book villain for Batman. Like back when the comics started. Guy was named the Penny Plunderer. His entire thing was that he had a fetish for pennies. And then he got killed by the giant penny crushing him. And then he never appeared again.
Man, I'd totally forgotten that Grifter was in this movie. It caught me totally off-guard when he showed up.

He was a great addition to the DCU. Canterbury Cricket threw me for a loop. I half-expected to see Unknown Soldier or Hitman.

The original comic book version of Flashpoint (and its spin-offs) adds more details to the story, explaining the divergences each character chose and bringing more substance to the dystopian timeline.

Animation is the one of the unique part of this movie, im the last few minutes after the time-line is restored the Animation/suits are subtly changed indicating soft reboot ahead. Its a nice touch

This movie was definitely unexpected. I had to watch it a few times to get everything. The animated universe this stemed from is really good.

To answer your question about Zoom: He's arguably the most terrifying villain in DC. Basically worse than the Joker, but with literally ALL of Flash's powers.
They’re making a flash movie based off of Flashpoint too. It comes out next year. The same guy who played Barry in Justice league is playing him

the first couple of episodes of Superman the animated series from the 1990s was coupled into a mini movie called Superman: the Last son of Krypton. and they had another movie called, Superman, Brainiac attacks

in the Flashpoint comic, Wonder Woman's mother Hippolyte dies early and she becomes queen, instead of leaving Themyscira and seeing the outside world. However, because of her being manipulated by her aunt Penthesilea, she develops into a more ruthless despot. Aquaman was the same as well. after his father died and his grandfather was killed by the Atlanteans, Arthur was taken and brought to Atlantis by his half-brother Orm (Ocean Master) and mother Atlanna. just like Wonder Woman, Aquaman was put on the throne early and was brainwashed into becoming a despotic sovereign, hellbent on expanding the Atlantean Empire to the surface. it also revealed that, in the past, the Flashpoint Aquaman and Wonder Woman were engaged but because opposing factions interfering (staged by Penthesilea and Orm themselves), their engagement was broken off until reuniting years later. While Aquaman was at fault for sleeping with Wonder Woman, it was revealed that she seduced him into doing so, and after killing Queen Mera just so she could have the Atlantean Emperor to herself, Aquaman declares war on the Amazons.
For being new you're kinda right on the money on the ones at the start being lower tier. And if you think that's bad, superman has a villain called toyman...
At least their goals are lower tier. They're bank robbers and that kind of stuff, not "take over the world" types. I see The Rogues as guys who just want to do a dishonest day's work, then hit the bar for a bit before going home.

The villains at the Beginning are called The Rogues. Top, Mirror Master, Heat Wave, Captain Cold, and Captain Boomerang. Individually they aren't very much but together they can at least try to compete against Flash
Martha Wayne gave this city everything she could to make it a better city. She helps charities and set up an orphanage and for her efforts the city rewarded her by shooting her son. Yeah that would break a mother imo

You should watch Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths., one of Dwayne McDuffie's last scripts before his untimely and tragic death.
There are comics that this movie was based off of besides Flashpoint itself tie in side comics that explain more regarding Thomas Wayne Batman, Martha Wayne becoming Joker, Superman, aquaman and wonder woman too. DC is top dog with animated movies for sure, most of them are really good but this is one of their best probably top 3 easily.

That moment breaks me. Barry just wanted to save his mum, I don’t think anyone who had his powers wouldn’t do the same. One thing I love about this story is how hopeless this alternate universe is and then Barry Allen comes in and inspires it. Imo aside from Superman, he is the embodiment of Hope in DC. This is easily one of the best DC films ever made and it’s animated. Like it’s flawless and better than the comic imo.
The evil speedster is Eobard Thawne aka Reverse-Flash, although he is sometimes called Professor Zoom. He is from the 25th century and was obsessed with The Flash, specifically and only Barry. He wanted to be him and have his power. He did just that and traveled back in time to meet him but only discovers that he will become his greatest enemy. Thiss makes him go mad and decides to destroy his life, by being the cause of every bad thing that happened to him including killing his mother. Another seperate character is called Hunter Zolomon aka Zoom, but he is the archenemy of Wally West, the third Flash
Those villains at the start are called The Rouges. They consist of Captain Cold, Heatwave, Mirror Master, Captain Boomerang and The Top. There’s two other members missing who are Golden Glider and The Trickster. They are not c-listers and Captain Cold is even a founding member of The Legion of Doom working alongside villains like Lex Luthor, The Joker and Cheetah
the only one to maybe top this as far as darkness is maybe Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. so maybe watch that one down the road a little
Justice League War is the sequel
Krysta's reactions to the rest of the DCAMU are going to be interesting. There's too much of a focus on Batman and Damian Wayne Robin imo, but I definitely enjoyed some of the earlier films. I hope Krysta also checks out older projects like Batman: Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, obviously BTAS, and JL: Doom.

This is based on a pre-existing comic and flashpoint batman got a comic spinnoff of his own and he actually comes back in batman and flash the button and interacts with regular batman in batman new 52/ rebirth

The dumbest part about this movie is the fact that they had Captain Atom, a superhero who can literally most likely stop all of the explosives by himself at the same exact time since he's that op do nothing but hold up one of the bad guys while Cyborg works on the explosive.
Should watch the movies from the original universe, “Justice League: Doom” and “Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths”
