Birthday Cake is a specific flavor in America. It's the cheap sheet cake your mother picks up from the store while rushing home after a long day at work and doesn't have time to make a good cake.
Sheet cake with that super sweet frosting and super sweet candy roses that makes the kids hang from the ceiling fan and throw the hamster out the window. Good memories!!

Love the pairings. I'd actually watch TV if Dermot and Justine had a sit-com. Even though there's a substantial age difference, they have a "we're married, but we're kind of tired of each other, but we're putting up with each other for the sake of the kids, and so we don't really care what we say to each other anymore..." kind of vibe going on that's really funny.

Out of all the Tryers the only one whose pallet I trust the most is Justine. She has never done me wrong with things I have never tried. She is spot on to my sense of taste.

So, "birthday cake" as a flavor is a kind of cake called "funfetti," which is a white vanilla cake with little chunks of color that somehow seem to make it taste totally different than ordinary white vanilla. It was the most common boxed cake mix used at the birthday parties I went to in the late 80s through the 90s. In my neighborhood, it was a rarity when I was a kid to get even a basic bakery sheet cake for a kid's birthday. It was almost always funfetti, hence Millenials' fondness for the concept as a flavor.
Spot on. Funetti cake mix...and the rainbow chip canned frosting from Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines. Not sure how, maybe the amount of vanilla in it, but it really is different from white or yellow boxed mix...and just so distinct & iconic!

I worked at a gourmet popcorn shop. We had over 30 flavors. And a flavor of the month. My favorite was kettle corn mixed with white cheddar. My favorite flavor of the month was cinnamon roll

Today you confirmed what we all already new, Dermot has no taste.
Traditional store bought Birthday cakes in the US are yellow cake and buttercream or vanilla frosting. The flavor is ubiquitous.
Traditional birthday cake is not just any flavor, that's why it has its own flavor. A traditional birthday cake is just white cake with sweet buttercream icing/frosting.

I’ve been watching these guys since “Facts.” channel. his name is Paddy and I want to say he’s is in his late 30’s.
I'd definitely try a few of them. The blue cheese... if it were *just* tobasco flavour, I'd jump at it. The cake sounded good. I don't think I'd try the durian flavored one you hid in the beer bag. I'm not a cookies and cream guy, but those reactions made me want to give it a go, too.
