As someone who is still kinda new to sfm, this program is absolutely terrifying at times. This vid and my experience with sfm really made me appreciate the animations Lazy and other TF2bers make

Just goes to show how ironic the name "LazyPurple" is, this level of dedication to fixing issues few people would even care about or notice just shoes how much he cares about the quality of his content. If I were him I'd just leave the damn pink laser and strobe lightbulb in the final animation, I just can't see myself working so hard over something so broken.

but yeah, the sfm community is amazing and full of talented and helpful people. and while there is some BS you might come across (like a character not having hair cause of some serious source spagetti that i was never able to find a fix for resulting in thousands of comments/emails/notifications over the years pointing this fact out to me) its overall not as bad as its made out to be.

Source Filmmaker was originally made to create the meet the team videos, initially just for Valve's use, but they released it on Steam in 2012, starting the Saxxy Awards and letting the community create what they wanted with it. With that there isn't a 100% foolproof documentation that solves every problem for the software, but there is a rather comprehensive wiki that explains many of the features.

This part pisses me off the most as a would-be indie game dev.
This console command references an entity (hence “ent”) called “fire”. This is what the fire particle used for things like Pyro’s flamethrower.
That means that *particular* light was using the *fire particle* for it’s glowing effect rather than the normal lightbulb glow every other light uses.
Why did Valve choose to do this?

Actually the command means 'activate (fire) the 'remove' input on the entity', "env_lightglow" is the entity name.
basically the command is telling the entity to delete itself, since the ent_remove console command only works on what you're looking at, but doesnt work on things you can't properly look directly at (like lights)

Even Mathematically the equation he said doesn’t make sense because X has to be the RGB value you want.
But then the equation does something to X to get the RGB value.
It literally does not compute.

I tried playing around with SFM once and got filtered almost instantly. I wanted to load up a map to play around with to get my feet wet, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. After trying in vain to figure it out myself for a while, I took that as a sign and uninstalled the program shortly afterwards.

You should react to some tf2 fan songs sush as "the most fashionable faction" by the stupendium or some of Jt music's songs like "meet the team" or tf2 vs overwatch raps.

watch some videos for the saxxy awards when you get the chance, many of those are god tier. and while your watching them, remember this video and know that those guys made all those top quality animations while dealing with all the crap from sfm jank

It's not locked. It's just valve doesn't update sfm at all and it's just stuck with an old version of tf2 forever.. . . . . .
