Anubis: The Egyptian God of Death

  • The jackal-headed god Anubis is one of the most famous and fascinating deities in Egyptian mythology. He was the first lord of the underworld, the conductor of souls, and the god of death. Anubis played several critical roles in ancient Egypt, evolving over time as Osiris took his place as ruler over the underworld. However, Anubis has always personified justice and respect for the dead - a key feature of ancient Egypt and its people.

Beware - Jesus will never walk in flesh again.
After WW3 - rise of the “ man of peace“ from the East = Antichrist - the most powerful, popular, charismatic and influential leader of all time. Many miracles will be attributed to him. He will imitate Jesus in every conceivable way.

Anubis was a jackal-headed deity who presided over the embalming process and accompanied dead kings in the afterworld. When kings were being judged by Osiris, Anubis placed their hearts on one side of a scale and a feather (representing Maat) on the other. ... Anubis is the son of Osiris and Nephthys.

Depending on the time period Egyptians had more in common with; as you put it, Arabs, or Assryrians, Macedonians, Nubians, etc. It would be as historically inaccurate to say Egyptians were black as it would be to say they weren't. In fact Egyptian historians left evidence of the distinctions they made between themselves and other tribes/kingdoms, as well as how "dark or light skinned" they were/perceived themselves to be when compared to others. Egyptians were phenotypically diverse.

The only thing is Anubis/Anpu wasn't dethroned by Osiris. He's still very much the God of the Dead. He just is no longer the God of the Du'at/Underworld because by Royal right, that became Osiris's domain when Set killed him.

    Great Video.
In case anyone was wondering, like I was, the crocodile headed God's name is Ammut 'The Devourer'. She had the head of a Crocodile, midsection of a Lion, and hind-quarters of a Hippo.
The other crocodile-headed God was called Sobek, he has a human body and was believed to have created the Nile. He was associated with fertility, chaos, and military.
That's what I learned about crocodile-headed deities after this video sparked my interest.
May Anubis have mercy on us all.

My interest in mythology and the study of other religions began at a young age. Numerous deities of death and battle were the ones who most frightened me, and I encountered several of them. My favorite part of Egyptian history was learning about their gods. The one deity that didn't frighten little ol' me was Anubis, my favorite mithical deity. Once again, I am grateful that you have reminded me of my beloved ancient deity.

Hot damn this was good, like seriously well done. Research, as far as memory serves at least, was on point for the egyptian portion which is by far the most important one for this vids topic ^^
(The Greek mention of Hades unfortunately not. Hades, both the God and the Realm, didn't solely punish. There were rather many different areas to the realm, some yes, for punishment, others, like Elysium, were paradise. Hades the god was often depicted as a hardworking caretaker, managing all the souls of the world as they came to him. Additionally, most versions don't depict him as being banished, but simply having gotten Hades as his realm when he and his brothers divided the world amongst themselves.)
Genuinely loved the quality in this though. Like, the animations were amazing, the narration just beautiful and so easy to follow along, the script beautiful, the music so captivating but never overshadowing. Ah, excellent production all around! My thanks goes out to everyone on the team and I hope each and everyone of you has an absolutely wonderful day, you've certainly made the start of mine a good one ^^
