I quit Ascension a few years ago because I used so much time making a great build, worked on items, worked on learning all spells and ids so that I knew the interactions. I told the devs about what I did, what worked and explained how this role (who did not damage) was a full support build in raids and how it helped raids zoom through bosses. The reaction? They "fixed issues" and made the build totally useless.

love this long format bro, but then again I'm addicted to the OSRS crack atm, so videos like these are great lol. Had a lot of fun playing this server back in march. leveling in PVP was always the way to go. Awesome server though, would be scared that blizzard targets it one day. The thing that put me off back then though was the neccessity to play some meta, cookie cutter build. Like theres so many cool synergies and builds you could experiment with, but you can't.
Warband got a new driver called WSE2 and makes literally every mod so enhanced and better looking, you should do a hardcore playthrough or something. Miss you man😭😭😭
FYI, D2 resurrected has been adding new content, they've added new runewords, items, charms, etc. They've added random "hot zones" where the mobs are your level +2 and the areas are rotated every hour (available in single player too).. so if you're 90 then the mobs are 92. The charms reduce enemy resistances to break enemy immunities making a lot more builds viable.. and the entire reskin was extremely well done..
Outside of season 9, Project Ascension is one of my favorite MMOs, full stop. My only issue with Season 9 is the wildcard talents. Love the merging of the big REs into normal ability and talent lists tho. Also enjoyed normal wildcard

this video is probably the best guide to playing ascension out there. obviously it's very long but this is the only video i've found that comprehensively explains all parts of ascension wow even if you've never played wow or ascension. if you want to give ascension an honest try definitely watch the first hour or two and feel free to then skip around to parts that interest you (timestamps in comments). you won't find a more comprehensive guide on youtube i guarantee you the 10-30 mins ascension youtube guides will not give you enough info beyond leveling 1-60. also your editing skills are incredible and it makes it very easy to understand the tons of loot drops, gold, AH, skill cards, talent cards, and when to just vendor items which is incredibly overwhelming on ascension. 10/10 edit: good to see a mcdoubles shoutout also ascension needs more content creators like you guys.

Also to anyone that plays, just so you know, you can select your skill and talent cards at any point in the game now, so the meta is rolling first to see what you get with only your starter abilities and only reroll what’s necessary as you add and change your cards at max level. You cannot change the cards once you lock them in though.
@@trmplays It essentially comes down to it, yes. You can get the skills and talents you want through rolls and you won’t have to use up the card slots you’re given.
I go back to Ascension every few months, it's fun. I do play it to kinda experience wow without paying for retail sub, but also because their classless random ability rolling is cool and their custom classes they have in the ptr server are pretty cool

Ascension was amazing dude, played with a buddy when it was kinda new, we just sat and re-rolled for hours to get the 4 perfect starting abilities (you couldn't lock abilites back then). When you finally got what you wanted it was imba, just for you to get shit abilites later on and redo the character again 💀
After 6 months of automated replies, countless attempts on various socials they have and yet I still don't have my account back. Blizzard have to be the WORST fkin compnay right now for anything. playing project ascension will always be a 10000x better experience than any current blizzard wow content.
Basically just a destiny style Item-Level Scaling, Equip higher level higher, Drop higher level items, Equip those new items, drop even better items, to incentivize you to use the new items you're getting even if they are not as good initially because of a higher item level. period.

3:44:30 It's mostly just because they're trying to get the playerbase to all play together. The more things they do that split players apart, such as multiple difficulties of raids, multiple difficulties of dungeons, 10 different tiers of call-board quests that make it so higher ilvl gets better rewards BUT ALSO have them do harder/different quests, all while a lot of the game being pvp focused just splits players up too much. While it isn't the greatest solution, the ilvl affecting the chest loots kinda makes sense in that context, but I do think that it should be based off of OWNED ilvl and not equipped. Hell, they could even just have a gear set saver that lets you save your highest ilvl stuff as a set specifically for it at an npc or something, but not require you to equip it? But, yeah, I think it's mostly to try to get all players to generally be able to interact and play together since it's a private server with quite a few different things to do as it is. And, yes, I'm aware this is a while ago, but maybe you still want some answers lol
The last time ascension wow was fun was 2019. Nowadays talents and spells have gone through many crazy changes and also they've added new talents and spells, some old being kicked away.
Ascension is when the devs are passionate, engage in conversations with players on world chat on daily basis, INSTA ban botters and gold sellers and with Conquest of Azeroth which is progressive vanilla but with 21 custom classes in alpha right now, i'm sorry but fuck blizzard and their retail and classic anyone who spends a few hours on Ascension will instantly never go back to retail
Nah it's not so bad. Get to level 60 without worrying about making the best build, it'll take you a few hours. Once you hit 60, you'll know how most of this works. I've started playing a few days ago when I was sick off work and I made a mistake because I played for 12 hours per day every single day. It's so fun. Also if you don't know what talents to roll for etc. you'll be able to find some builds online. Not a lot of info is out there and I've noticed people keep builds private which makes the server even better and gets you to explore like the good days.
Yo trm, idk if you know or not, but theres a streamer guild for the classic hardcore fresh servers coming up, run by sodapoppin!! Could be a really cool challenge for a video leveling to 60 and raiding with no deaths, and making content too, maybe try and hop in. They even developed a proximity voice chat addon for classic!
Okay I'm only 3 minutes in, but people that played WC3 were INCREDIBLY excited for Reforged, my entire old clan got back together the second it got announced. It turning out to be complete garbage is seperate from it being ''just a reskin''
What were they excited about though? I played wc3 since release and I don't remember hearing a single thing teased about reforged that sounded interesting to me. But maybe I just didn't pay enough attention

As someone who never stopped playing customs, reforged was a downgrade in multiple ways(lots of broken custom maps, horrible desyncs). However, it did improve a few things(new player colors, 24 player maps, more powerful map editor). But the biggest issue was all the new players coming back with no maps downloaded after blizzard axed hosting bots. Those bots had massive catalogs of customs downloaded and were ready for the average player who dosnt know how to download them from online sources. This amounts to people playing the same 15-20 maps with no variety. Prior to reforged the remaining players were happy to try maps they had never played before.
There's an item you buy for like 50 silver that turns pve items into blood forged items. Called like a pot of blood or something near the call board. I think it's a troll NPC, don't really remember, been years since I've played
O.o private servers aren't illegal though, blizzard has a legal section that allows people to run them as long as they follow a set of 6 or so rules from what I lost saw. Now streaming a private server on the twitch on the other hand, is iffy as twitches rules are old and slow to update as usual.
Looking at the insane amount of customization they've been able to do to a game they don't even own compared to SoD should be embarrassing for Blizzard.

Quite literally is streamable, i have messages from twitch saying it is avaible to stream. Ascension is so different that it was qualified for a seperate version of wow. Plus it has its own category on twitch. You can also stream it on youtube. And to those who want to message back, no I didnt watch the full video nor do i care. I used to play on Ascension not because I couldn't afford the subscription to classic, but because I grew so uncomfortable with blizz after: - Blitzchung censorship - Sexual harrassment - Warlords of Draenor and Battle for Azeroth expansions having been greenlit - Absolutely no support for newer players (didn't affect me as much, but it meant that I couldn't introduce anyone from my friends to the game) - Overwatch being in the ruins at that time and then them doing "Overwatch 2" And more, in the end I stopped playing WoW altogether as I weaved myself off of MMOs by trying different ones like Oldschool Runescape and FFXIV Online. Then just quit altogether. The only MMO I come back to occasionally for 1 month of play time is OSRS because you can just leave the character and there's not going to be some new level 120 to grind, the character is where you mostly left it at with maybe a few more quests to complete. Also there's no incentive to level up "alts" other than for Ironman sake or some PvP build, which is a bonus for me because I saw alt leveling as an additional waste of time created by Blizzard so players don't go insane while waiting for new content or at least it felt like that when they started to introduce race after race so people have a reason to level new alts even though it offers no real advantage other than money making but you only need 3-4 alts with different professions for that.
Dude, I have been playing wow on and off and being more bored than ever, I went all in on SoD, full nolife tryhard, hoping this is it, this is the future, this is best! Of course as always with Blizzard, I was disappointed af already at phase2. So then I discovered Ascension and holy cow, it makes SoD look like botched up amateur hour. Ascension Season9 is literally what SoD shoulda been. My absolute most favorite thing is that they implemented M+ keys like system to classic raids, so now you can literally do BWL +9 and sweat your ass off for cool cosmetics additional to usual BWL loot. Thanks to Ascension I was hyped about "wow" again after almost a decade of just thinking "why am i even playing this, oh well, nothing else to play anyway" to "holy sheet, i have a reason to get out of bed in the morning again!"
I've been on and off with ascension since it's inception when it was named Awakened close to 10 years ago. In the last year or two, they've taken a really bad downward turn. They're really actively playing by the numbers now. Balancing and designing based on spreadsheets rather than by fun. Which defeats the point of a private server in the first place. The developers are now treating the server as Blizzard would. Which kills the enjoyment of it. Which is ironic, because Blizzard aped a lot of the ideas from Ascension and stuck them into Season of Discovery. The entire healing mage chronomancer that is currently in SoD was created in Ascension years ago. Same with Tank lock, and tank shaman. It's just really not fun anymore. They are trying really hard to inflate playtime and push microtransactions by injecting RNG into it to an unhealthy degree. It's a very corporate approach to what's meant to be a step away from a corporate run game. It used to be extremely fun.
God I love Ascension, great community and team and just amazing gameplay. Haven’t been on the new season because I’m not as big of a fan but man. I’ve had some fantastic times
the only reason i dont play ascension is because i already enjoy how paladin is designed, there's nothing about the whole skill randomizer gameplay that appeals to me. plus i'm not a big fan of seasonal realm stuff, feels too much like black desert (yes i know bliz has a seasonal server in classic, but i obviously don't play that either). I see the audience it has, but it just ain't my cup of tea. don't hate anything about it tho

There is raiding, most encounters have been reworked and there's 4 baseline difficulties available with different lockouts and gear quality that drops from them. Seasonal (Shown in the video) goes from vanilla to TBC (Currently in vanilla)

Buying an xp potion on ascension is like buying a level boost on retail but somehow less worth it

O.o private servers aren't illegal though, blizzard has a legal section that allows people to run them as long as they follow a set of 6 or so rules from what I lost saw. Now streaming a private server on the twitch on the other hand, is iffy as twitches rules are old and slow to update as usual.
Looking at the insane amount of customization they've been able to do to a game they don't even own compared to SoD should be embarrassing for Blizzard.

Quite literally is streamable, i have messages from twitch saying it is avaible to stream. Ascension is so different that it was qualified for a seperate version of wow. Plus it has its own category on twitch. You can also stream it on youtube. And to those who want to message back, no I didnt watch the full video nor do i care. I dont have 5 hours to just sit here and watch this full thing.
If u get a lot of viewers they may strike its been done in the past with private servers
I used to play on Ascension not because I couldn't afford the subscription to classic, but because I grew so uncomfortable with blizz after:
- Blitzchung censorship
- Sexual harrassment
- Warlords of Draenor and Battle for Azeroth expansions having been greenlit
- Absolutely no support for newer players (didn't affect me as much, but it meant that I couldn't introduce anyone from my friends to the game)
- Overwatch being in the ruins at that time and then them doing "Overwatch 2"
And more, in the end I stopped playing WoW altogether as I weaved myself off of MMOs by trying different ones like Oldschool Runescape and FFXIV Online. Then just quit altogether.
The only MMO I come back to occasionally for 1 month of play time is OSRS because you can just leave the character and there's not going to be some new level 120 to grind, the character is where you mostly left it at with maybe a few more quests to complete. Also there's no incentive to level up "alts" other than for Ironman sake or some PvP build, which is a bonus for me because I saw alt leveling as an additional waste of time created by Blizzard so players don't go insane while waiting for new content or at least it felt like that when they started to introduce race after race so people have a reason to level new alts even though it offers no real advantage other than money making but you only need 3-4 alts with different professions for that.

Dude, I have been playing wow on and off and being more bored than ever, I went all in on SoD, full nolife tryhard, hoping this is it, this is the future, this is best! Of course as always with Blizzard, I was disappointed af already at phase2. So then I discovered Ascension and holy cow, it makes SoD look like botched up amateur hour. Ascension Season9 is literally what SoD shoulda been.
My absolute most favorite thing is that they implemented M+ keys like system to classic raids, so now you can literally do BWL +9 and sweat your ass off for cool cosmetics additional to usual BWL loot. Thanks to Ascension I was hyped about "wow" again after almost a decade of just thinking "why am i even playing this, oh well, nothing else to play anyway" to "holy sheet, i have a reason to get out of bed in the morning again!"

I've been on and off with ascension since it's inception when it was named Awakened close to 10 years ago. In the last year or two, they've taken a really bad downward turn. They're really actively playing by the numbers now. Balancing and designing based on spreadsheets rather than by fun. Which defeats the point of a private server in the first place. The developers are now treating the server as Blizzard would. Which kills the enjoyment of it. Which is ironic, because Blizzard aped a lot of the ideas from Ascension and stuck them into Season of Discovery. The entire healing mage chronomancer that is currently in SoD was created in Ascension years ago. Same with Tank lock, and tank shaman.
It's just really not fun anymore. They are trying really hard to inflate playtime and push microtransactions by injecting RNG into it to an unhealthy degree. It's a very corporate approach to what's meant to be a step away from a corporate run game. It used to be extremely fun.

Like your videos you should check out paradigm worlds: its a total conversion mod for mount and blade warband that has almost all kinds of weapons.
the only reason i dont play ascension is because i already enjoy how paladin is designed, there's nothing about the whole skill randomizer gameplay that appeals to me. plus i'm not a big fan of seasonal realm stuff, feels too much like black desert (yes i know bliz has a seasonal server in classic, but i obviously don't play that either). I see the audience it has, but it just ain't my cup of tea. don't hate anything about it tho

Its very popular. Also they now have new server with 21 brand new classess avaliable. Its behind a paywall though. There are still ways to get it for free, like giveaways or in game gold from AH.

There is raiding as far as I know. I didn't do any this season though
There is raiding, most encounters have been reworked and there's 4 baseline difficulties available with different lockouts and gear quality that drops from them. Seasonal (Shown in the video) goes from vanilla to TBC (Currently in vanilla)
most people prefer raiding because pvp can be unbalanced af
