Only in this game could a whiteout have as much fanfare as it does. It is indeed an enemy of humanity, even if it has no conscience or purpose; why wouldn't it have its' own theme?
Piotr’s work for this series is legitimately remarkable. The City Must Not Fall is, for my money, one of the most impactful pieces of video game score ever written. The evocation that *this is it, if you do not give it everything you have down to your last breath, mankind’s story ends HERE* is breathtaking. The fact that Piotr’s managed to meet the same standard for the sequel is a testament to his talent.
The City Must *Survive*, not “The City Must Not Fall”. Although I wholly agree with everything you’ve said here. I’ve only been consuming this game’s content for maybe the betterment of two months and the OST alone has given me more satisfaction than any video game OST I’ve listened to in that time. It’s glorious. I’ve shuffled playlists of this game’s OST nigh-countless times and the order practically is meaningless, I still get the same feel of awe the first time I heard The City Must Survive. If any one reads this in the future, I also recommend listening to: - Anger (FP2 OST) - New Shipment (FP1:TLA OST) - The Edge Theme (FP1: TE) - The Darkest of Days (FP1: ANH) - Into The Storm (FP1: ANH) - Are We Alone? (FP1: ANH) - Main Theme (FP1: ANH) - The Great Old Enemy (FP2) And so many more. They’re each beautiful for different reasons.

There are no words that can descripe the emotions I went trough in the first Whiteout encounter. This ain't a game anymore, its a playable movie.

Fun fact: Frostpunk 2 has dynamic music. If you zoom out to the Frostland view while a whiteout is over the city, you'll just hear the strings.
