When I was an Avionics Technician at Cobham, DeVry was one of the institutions included in Cobham's program to fund further levels of education for their employees and one guy I worked with was already doing the DeVry thing - so there was at least one huge company who honored a degree from DeVry. Thankfully my electronics business proved to be successful over time and I never had to deal with it.
I just remember smoking some really good pot in the early 2000s and the commercials being really appealing. A naive 19 year old kid without much direction at the time. Thankfully I got hooked up with a long time family friend and learned a good paying trade before I was able to make a move I would have later regretted.
some teachers I had at ITT they knew the course but when I got to ip networking, the teacher did not know the course and made us use Google thru out the semester from labs to homework
Hey +calicomputerdoctor I pretty much had the same experience with the teachers at ITT tech. Most of my teachers were alright, but I had some pretty incompetent ones as well. Most of the CS teachers didn't have a clue of what they were doing. It seems like they don't have good standards for the teachers there, so if you get a good one, you're lucky. We had one guy that literally knew nothing about server administration, but taught all of the MS Server classes. This guy would come to class sounding and looking all coked up, and basically had us teach ourselves. He couldn't even answer questions or get any of the labs to work when we had problems, and most of the labs had problems. We had another teacher that taught the Linux courses that had pretty much never used it and didn't even know how to get around in the terminal. The guy that taught us networking was great, but the courses themselves sucked. Mostly book work, which teaches you nothing. I hated ITT. I complained about the teachers and tuition and nobody else seemed to get it. Well I guess the gov't did, and they're paying for it now. Dirty bastards.
Im currently helping clean out all the important stuff here in dayton itt tech and i gotta say the teachers were so un organized and messy...its ridiculous!
"Can I actually touch a computer?" - LOL To that end, I'm currently buying up several bench multimeters that came from ITT - and not a single one of them shows any signs of wear from being used, they are all in brand new condition. Thus, it can be said that I'm benefitting from ITT in some way as I'm getting these meters for about $35 each - INCLUDING shipping LOL They list at 260.00. Thanks ITT, for being such a crap institution and shutting down so I can get your never-used test equipment practically for free!
I still feel bad for both the students and the teachers.
