The Porsche 918 did 6:57, but when you consider that thing cost about $850,000, and this costs about $125,000, I think we can all agree, if you spent a further 75,000 dollars modifying the GTR (properly with the best parts) this would be at least as quick. AND You would have 650,000 dollars left! I know what I would do!

Gotta say, this driving video has a certain violence to it that the slick Ferrari and Porsche videos lack. You can see this is on another level. It's nasty.
Ferraris are so smooth that they don't seem real. But at the same time they are predictable and boring even though they have great lines. It wasn't until the past few years that ppl started tuning Ferarris like how they do Nissans and the purists are so salty about cars they'll never drive lmao. Nissans are the best bang for the buck and the bargain bin street level tuning associated with it is actually amazing at their top mass production tier.
The lap time is fantastic, For a car that costs this much but lets not forget has a lot of weight to carry around, 7:08 is special, Please someone at Nissan/Nismo get a Nismo GTR and take out the weight to demolish a sub 7 Min lap, Could you even think how much faster this thing would be without all the comforts on board? I know it wont fit into the production car class and have little to no meaning but it would still be one hell of a lap i bet ;)

Nissan cheated because this vehicle isn't stock .. the nismo already cost 151,000 plus another 52,000 for the N attack package .. the engineers at Nissan admitted that the vehicle that ran 7:08 had track options that included aerodynamics tuning,weight reduction, and suspension tuning..
it looks like it has a full leather interior, has much been done in the way of weight reduction? i really want to see the GTR released with a hardcore track model. fully stripped out, no radio/ AC with just 2 bucket seats. now THAT would be awesome. sub 7 minute ring time? possible.
You can order a Trackday toy, it is called a GTR Nismo GT3. They cost about 160K€ I believe. Order in Japan and you must transport it yourself to your (or any) location. But they are sold freely. It is also not homologated for road use, but maybe in your country you can register it.
Yeah I know of the GT3 version, but as a street car I think the GTR hasn't reached it's full potential in factory form. I want to see something like a Superleggera/ Scuderia Challenge version so to speak.
I miss your point. Thee GTR Nismo is faster then all you cite. It is faster because of its weight. Listen to Mr Mizuno's explanation why the GTR is that heavy (you can find it on TH-cam, piston heads channel I think). Because a road car cannot generate 1.2T downforce like a race car of F1, you need the weight for the traction. Less weigh looses the traction; as he explained.
At least you can recognise this. Cars are not about weight and horse power. They are about performance. And when fat cow like this can drive *like this*, it surely is a good car. I have also heard professional drivers complimenting the engine :)

That's what I was thinking too, do all GTR's understeer that much? I guess that's part of their safety system though, along with the computer, that's how drivers can really max out the GTR while staying safe (boring). Just floor it til you can't steer anymore!
My personal record with Nissan GT-R @ Nurburgring is in Need For Speed Shift 2. Did it with the Spec r model with works, but used automatic gears etc. It's like 6:5something,something. Best with manual gears and no assist at all is just under or was it over 7 minutes. Gotta film it sometime now that I have GoPro :)
I never noticed my lap times with the GTR on that game, I just didn't care about it, I was more about having the best lap times with the Mclaren F1 and 12C, I did under 7 minutes with the F1 and just above 7 minutes with the 12C, I need to Install it again in order to see how well I do with the GTR :-)
I did some laps and uploaded the videos. Didn't do that well since it was over two months since I drove last time. Plus my pedals are slipping on my floor :P

Imagine if this car had the same general shape of the R32...much smaller, much lower down, much less tall. I don't know why they keep making Skylines bigger. My R33 was nice but it felt too big and cumbersome. I'm an MR2 MK2 girl for life now.

It will never have a V12, the whole car industry is downsizing their engines. Plus, Nissan isn't really into that sort of thing, they like small, turbocharged engines like the RB26DETT or the SR20DET.
Bore size determines piston size. If you want double the bores to accommodate double the pistons you will need to drastically reduce bore size. If want to increase displacement by using more stroke, then you will need very long connecting rods. Either way, it would be a completely different engine and you'll probably need a completely different kind of car to put it in, i.e., not a GTR. The engine bay is only so big. They did fit a 4.5L V8 in a few race cars years ago, but they were naturally aspirated and required major space frame modifications. They also dumped the AWD to reduce weight.

Nissan took 380 lbs out of the car and the lap times were slower. (Less tire adhesion). Now in the 1/4 mile it may be a different story.

This was already a higly modified car with non street legal tires. This was in this form was never sold to the public

I can do a 5:54 with this car fully tuned to 1200hp, lightened to 1300kgs, with fine tuned suspension, LSD, Transmission, and Racing Soft Slicks.
best i could do was 7:50 with 2012 gtr black edition on forza, stock everything, might try some racing tires see if that helps.
