Hi Gavin. F.Y.I. I called the AiVolt customer support yesterday. The 4 year residential warranty is First 2 years Parts and Labor 3rd+4th year just Parts. We are responsible for Labor. A little misleading but the support was very easy to reach and helpful. All the best to your channel, Mike i.
I have had this generator for a couple weeks now. I have a transfer switch wired into my panel. I was able to power my house with propane with ease. No AC as I don’t have a soft start, and no clothes dryer. But, the rest of my house was humming right along. That includes a 220v well pump as well. I have tried the Duromax, Predator, Genmax, and Wen’s new open frame dual fuel inverter. Every single one I tried had different issues. This unit is almost perfect. It would be perfect if there was a gas shutoff. The propane to gas switching works flawless as well. Such a great feature. In a outage you can get it fired up fast to get power back, then hook up your propane when you get a chance. A+ work A-ipower!
If it is like most generators, you just turn the knob towards off just before it actually shuts off and it will shut off the fuel and continue running until the carb is dry. When there is a knob that you turn, that's usually both a valve and a switch and the valve should close before it is fully in the off position.
@@pcspecialistpdx I would bet you are correct just turn the shut off knob ~3/4 of the way to off and the fuel should be off before you get to the shut down switch. Maybe Gavin will show this in a test??
I just bought this generator at Costco. Regular price was $1299, but I got the adjustment for $999 when it went on sale. Glad I rewatched this video because I didn't realize the container had the exact amount of oil in the container...I put in about 3/4 and it shut down on low oil level...figures. I feel really comfortable with this generator because of Costco. I also like it is dual fuel. Propane is the primary, then it will switch to gasoline. I didn't think it would start on propane at first because of the low oil shutdown. AFTER I filled it with gas, I figured out the low oil error I had made. Runs quiet, starts right up. I like it!
Hi Paul. 2 years Parts and Labor and 2 years (3-4) parts only. Guess what? Costco has it for $300 off until 12/13/22 Now $999. Just bought it yesterday. Yamaha (Japanese) engine. All the best, Mike i.
You might have seen me comment from other videos. Another Florida resident looking for a generator due to all the hurricanes. I just got the Generator hookup installed this week, so now time to hunt down a generator(s). I really wanted something like 4500w x2 so I could run just one overnight to save fuel, and run both if needed for extra power, as well as having a backup if one failed. The issue is nothing in that class has 240v. It's not that I need to run anything 240v during an emergency, it's just a matter of having it connect to the main 240v panel properly. So after so much deliberation I finally pulled the trigger on the GenMax GM9000iED since it has such good reviews and following on TH-cam, though questionable reviews on Amazon. Obviously no big box store support, and its from China. With the $200 off coupon I did buy the extended warranty for it to get 4 years of coverage to help alleviate any concerns of failure. Now here we go, the very day after I can't cancel the Amazon order this rolls in. Fits exactly what I was looking for, and I have a Costco right up the road and I am a member. Maybe no buyers remorse if the GenMax doesn't let me down, and does well on fuel when only running overnight load of fans and such. Some things that make it hard is each manufacture gives a run time at different loads. Genmax says 10 hours at 50% load, this one says 10 hours at 25% load. So I have no way of knowing what the GenMax does at say a 25% load or less. I know from the last hurricane having to get thru with just my 2000w Champion it was very nice that I could get thru 24 hours only filling it twice, so it would make it thru the night without running out. At only 10 hours @ 25% load that might be a close call with this generator. But of course the different size fuel tank makes it even harder to come up with fuel "efficiency" ideally I want something that uses as little as possible, another reason I wanted the 1+1 setup, to only run one smaller generator to use less fuel, but I honestly do not know how say 1 smaller generator at 50% would do vs a larger one at 30% as far as fuel used. If the noise measurements are accurate, I guess t hats another nod to the GenMax at only 62DB vs this at 68DB, but again in a real emergency this does not matter much as everybody in the neighborhood is running a generator. Your review shows this one to be more quiet in Eco, and the Genmax a bit more quiet full boar, but close enough that its basically the same. It's nice that the Genmax has the proper 50A plug ready to connect directly, so that is another bonus. I mean I cant be upset with that purchase, but at nearly $1000 less for this I really wonder if I would have been happier and better off with two of these. I could also just buy one now, and a second later on to soften that upfront purchase cost. Also as far as 50A, the Genmax is like ~30A so parallel its beyond 50A and cant use all the power, feels waist full if for any reason just one was not enough. But two of these is going to put you really close to a proper 50A output. Just seems to fit what I wanted to do personally better. P.S. Also whats up with only a 2 port Parallel on this? Shouldn't a 240v have 3? (Plus Ground for 4 total) I cant find a ready made kit for this generator by the manufacturer. Edit: Found it its the PK12000 Parallel Kit for this guy, though I do not actually see where to buy it, and its 50A but only 120v... So I think that answers my question I just asked about missing the 3rd connection for Parallel, and with that alone I would have to go for the GenMax over this model.
I just bought this generator as well. Can't go wrong with Costco, as they'll take it back if anything goes wrong. So far, I've only powered the RV partially, but its possible this thing will run both A/C units on my RV, don't know. My biggest concern, is that if this thing has a carburetor, I will want to only use non-ethanol gas in it, but I have yet to look into that and call the support. I've had (well) enough with the damage that lousy ethanol causes to my engines. I like it so far.
FYI - The PK12000 parallel kit is available for order direct from the manufacturer only. Cost is $120. Despite the picture of kit online and a previous comment in this thread, the parallel kit does support 50A at 240V. I received the manual from customer service to confirm.
What a really great generator they seemed to of thought of everything, I especially like that air filter assembly. The only thing that might seem like a pain is the changing of the battery but definitely not a big deal. I loved how excited you got over the electronic fuel gage . Great video as always Gavin please keep them coming
I'd hook-up a set of those quick connect leads to the battery to keep it maintained, still don't know why with all the tech they put into these that they haven't put a plug-in port on one of the panels to plug in a battery tender
I wont steal the hosts thunder and get detailed but for those that are asking, my experience is that the generator supports a sustained load of 2800W on each leg of it's 240V total output (running gasoline). So if your input cable is just a 3 wire type for 120V 30A then you have 2800W (23A) only to work with. If you have access to all 4 wires (2 hot, 1 neutral, 1 ground) then it supports 5600W total across both hots. So you will need the correct hookup to take advantage of all the wattage. It also gets very thirsty of fuel with a single leg near max load so bear that in mind.
That's a good point about fuel efficiency. I was surprised by how much more efficient the fuel injector based units (i.e. Honda) are compared to carb based units.
@@xavierneckor8918 Yeah.... $4000.00 buys a lot of gas though! It's not outrageous but it was a bit harder on fuel at 40% of total load than I expected. Curious to see if anyone does some detailed numbers later on.
Nice one, Gavin! The auto switching thing is really good. To be honest, I'm probably never going to get one of these but I would like to see it in action going from propane to gas and back to propane all automatically.
@@GeneratorReviews I wonder if you have a full tank of gas & a propane tank hooked-up at the same time, what source will it choose to use? I'm thinking gas because of the higher output you would get, but will it?
Hi Gavin. The Manager Oscar Orosco in California (Tech.Service) replied to me stating that when it transitions from Propane to Gasoline, it remains at the Spec. 3 THD Total Harmonic Distortion. He said it was tested quite a bit and no damage occurred to any sensitive equipment. When you can, can you do this test to see if this is factual. Also to see the Sine Wave Specification when it runs out of fuel. Thanks Gavin for all you do for your fans. All the best to you, Mike ienuso.
Hi, Gavin, first time poster, have been binge-watching your stuff :) and it got me cracking on doing a whole house audit of energy needs. I have a Champion Dual Fuel 9375 that was the last one I could find between OKC and Dallas...in Royse City during the Big Event a year or more ago when my 13 year old Generac gave a loud boom and died, lol. In any case, it was all we could find and I drove down there immediately and grabbed it and had no option with regard to finding an inverter at the time, so...FF to now and I am concerned about our very old refrigerator (11a startup-1.40 running), new microwave, old plasma tv (385-450w running, getting a new one of about 85w), and two computer rooms pulling about 210 w in one and 150w or so in the other, furnace is 110v (up to 800w startup then 330-350 running), and two small chest freezers that pull minimal watts when running, didn't get the startup watts yet. ANYWAY, the most important discover I made is my Bryant 3.6 ton unit which pulls about 16a to start then levels off to 11, and it has a 30a fuze outside although the breaker is 50. I think this means I don't even need to bother with a Micro-Air Easy start, right? Leaving out that I want to roll out my current Champion and get in an inverter gen, anything 6500 or higher running, even with NG, should power my needs I am thinking? Even something like this one, lol. Sorry for the wordcount, now that the A/C doesn't required the easy start I have a little more cash to play with, lol.
Hey Thanks for watching my channel and subscribing, I hope all is well. I know you have the ability to start the ac without the soft start but just think of when all your essential loads are being powered by the generator and the ac tries starting that’s when the soft start comes in handy. Inverter technology is the only way to go with all the sensitive appliances that you have. Sounds like you are on the right track with your setup, I think you’re doing great 👍🏾 figuring out what your budget and power needs are.
@@GeneratorReviews Appreciate your patience wading through all that wordiness, lol, I drank wayyy too much caffeine yesterday. I have been trying to find a gen where the engine was built not in China and it looks like possibly Generac, Kohler and maybe Honda are the only ones? (wincing) I really like the Champion although my Generac from Lowes 14 years ago (Briggs motor) was perfect for all those years, that seems to be a perfect endorsement for staying with Generac but having trouble finding an invert gen from them at the moment. Based on your experience is there one of all the MiC engines you would trust most for longevity? I should probably go for a Generac small permanent install but even though the version for my house is offered at 3295 around here they charge 2k install and permits, etc.
Looks nice. Definitely would like to see the RV test and power quality. Not sure it's reasonable to test it on 5 ton A/C but it might work with the soft start.
Good to see your review on this one. Ours was delivered two weeks ago but I haven't even had time to put oil & gas in it yet. Snow coming soon, I better get busy. Will subscribe and check out some of your other vids.
Hey Gavin . Just subscribed great video really like the remote start that is a huge plus as well as dual fuel. Cant wait for your reviews on it as far as it power /run time on a full load
I just received the 2023 version of the GXS7100iRD. The main difference that I can see is the 2023 version has the same control panel as the GXS7600iRD (120V/220v switch added). You make a great point about the oil. My sticker for the oil level is the same as what you showed (.7L/23.7oz) and the bottle that came with the generator is 23.7oz.. The manual shows .7L/24.7oz. .7L is 23.7oz not 24.7oz. As you mentioned, be careful on how much oil you add.
Can you test voltage drop when switched off while running and when it runs out of fuel. Voltage drops or just cuts power immediately to protect connected devices from low voltage.
Great videos, Gavin. Just received this generator a couple weeks ago and just finished up the break-in Process What oil do you recommend with this generator and in the manual it says to screw down the oil cap to check the oil or should I just set it on top and check it that way. And also, will you be doing a home test with this generator with the interlock on the breaker panel. Recently new subscriber. Love your videos. Thank you.
I understand that the best test you should do it’s with a house and its air conditioners, because not everyone has an RV. I would like to know if it is safe to use this Generator with a/c and if it is safe with other *domestic equipment sensitive to voltage fluctuations. It would be very helpful for everyone since the planet earth is undergoing many changes and we all need different alternatives like this generator with two sources of generation such as propane gas and gasoline. But! at the end of the day you have the last word when making an explanatory video. You could make another video comparing this A-iPower GXS7100iRD generator with the Honda EU7000is or maybe at the end of the video. I think I've seen all your videos. You're the best! Thanks
Very interesting generator. When you load test I hope you will test the auto fuel changeover. That is a big plus, if it works well. Will the power continue seamlessly? Any voltage drops or surges that could harm electronics? Thanks for all of the great reviews!
When it switches from one fuel source to another, can you take a video of that? Also when it does this switchover automatically, how is power output affected as it happens? A video of this would be great!
I wonder how easy it would be to simply replace the propane regulator inside with a natural-gas regulator? I don't need tri-fuel; I simply want dual-fuel but it being NG.
Yeah, had it a couple weeks. I got mine through Costco the day they put it on their site. I have wanted a Honda 7000, but wasn’t willing to pay that hefty price tag. I was so giddy when I saw this, I pulled the trigger right away. I actually ordered a second unit for my grandpa. I posted a review on Costco about it. It’s a fantastic unit.
One thing I can’t quite figure out is that both running watt ratings are more than the 30a 120/240v outlet is rated for…so why doesn’t it come equipped with a 50a plug?
@@GeneratorReviews Home test first I would think people would want to use this as a backup but why not both ....haha Thanks again for all the hard work and expense you go through.
Side note we know the Honda EU7000is run time at 1000 watt load is ~50 - 52 mins you don't have to do head to head as you don't want to damage your fuel pump you can now just run test against other gensets and keep a log of run times for fuel economy comparisons.
Trying to decide between this one and the Harbor Freight 5000, which will end up being cheaper, have enough power, is quieter, and run significantly longer. I like this model for the 240v option and auto-switch over.
Another great video by Gavin! Hook that baby up to your home, that's what I wanna see. Is that generator bonded neutral or not? Also on the 240 parallel I did not notice the 4 wire hook-up and it looks like maybe no neutral plug in location, your thoughts?
Thank you for the video, however I recently bought this unit and started up I notice the service reset icon is on green and the service light is always on is that normal?
@@xavierneckor8918 looks like they added a battery tender, and a switch that you can run all the power to the 240 outlet and shut off the rest. The product page/manual/spec sheet looks different from the Costco listing. Costco does usually drop ship from the manufacturer for generators, and the sku is the same. a-ipower.com/products/gxs7100ird-7100-watt-dual-fuel-with-remote-start-inverter-generator
Gavin maybe you could get some info from the manufacturer to see if Costco is shipping the latest version, my local Costco doesn’t stock it. I ordered one so hopefully we’ll find out soon either way.
@@gaetano9361 Thanks. Didn't know until you mentioned there is a Rev01. It looks like they replaced the automotive 12VDC outlet with the voltage selector switch.
Thanks for the video! I’ve seen some similar generators with a simple battery tender connection where you can just plug the generator into the wall to make sure the battery stays topped off between uses. In this case, do you have to open up the side of the generator and plug in your own trickle charger or something directly to the battery terminals?
Hi Gavin. This Generator, I own it. Being that the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is less than 3, which is great. Now when the Generator runs out of fuel, what will happen to that beautiful SINE WAVE??? Can you show us that? So then when we have our equipment attached, we can see if the Sine Wave gets Dirty and could possibly hurt our equipment. Most of us do not own the one you use. Also the automatic switch over from propane to gas, what will happen to the Sine Wave for those few moments. Thanks for everything Gavin. Mike ienuso.
Great video as always. I understand the unit has a floating neutral, which is used to power the house (I have an electrician wiring the breaker box later this month). If I want to run just extension cords, do I need to use a bonding neutral plug adapter for safety?
No, you actually don’t have to do anything. The only time you need a bonding plug is if you’re using a surge protector, or charging an electric vehicle, or an appliance that requires a bonded neutral.
Could this one be a Honda EU7000is killer? I love the Honda for it's quiet running and the other features, but paying $6500 CAD for one is outside the realm of common sense. Looking for your opinion on what the best home backup gen would be.
People that buy the Honda do it because they're going to use it a lot and they want it to last. People that buy these Chinese generators of questionable quality do so because they're not going to use it much. A typical Honda May last thousands of hours... A typical clone will last a couple of hundred hours. That may be perfectly fine for somebody who uses it a few times a year for a few dozen hours. As a general rule when it comes to engines Honda has no equal. The devil is in the attention to details. All these engines in all these generators and power equipment are clones of Honda engines but they are not made and quality controlled the way Honda does. Parts are indistinguishable to look at but they are not the same. You get what you pay for. And you do not get what you do not pay for. Honda commmands a premium for all of its Small engine products.... They are simply the Best they are made and engineered to actually work and last. The cost is always a tough pill to swallow, but if you depend on it it's worth it.
Honda is the best of the best, one big difference is Fuel Injected not carbureted. If I was using a generator at a job site every day, and this was a tool for making money I think I would get the Honda, but for occasional use or emergency use. Yeah this would be where I would go.
Eco mode lowers the rpm of the engine, more than tripling your fuel economy. Nothing is lost in power. The generator automatically increases the RPM as the power demand rises. Just think if you have Eco mode off, and you just powering a small television and refrigerator, there’s no need for generator to be running outside wide-open throttle, wasting fuel, with an inverter generator the engine matches the load automatically.
Also just another comment in general for your videos. I'd like to see how much louder 2 vs 1 is so say a 4500w generator making 55DB and a 9000W generator doing 60DB, how much louder is it when you add a second generator in parallel. Is the net gain/loss of running two smaller generators in parallel actually creating more noise and/or using more fuel than a single larger unit? In general how does a larger unit like 9000w do with small loads of say 2000W vs a 2000W generator nearly maxed out. Not run time as fuel tank size is so different, but just the actual amount of fuel used. Trying to mentally map out the absolute best case for gas/power ratio and power/noise ratios and use that to help decide if two smaller generators or one big one is the better idea. I am assuming the smaller generator will win in fuel just due to the smaller motor, but the bigger generator running at a lower RPM will probably win in noise, and two smaller generators running together, I am going to assume maybe 3 or 4DB louder than a single unit.
@@GeneratorReviews I'd say that video did a good job of answering most of my questions. I expect a repeat of the same concept with 2x4500w vs a 9000w except maybe the noise will be a bit different because your not using the super small units. I'd say its worth repeating only if you want to cover some new ideas not yet covered. Parallel Tests: A Sound test of 1 vs 2 for the same generator to see how much noise is added by turning on the 2nd unit with the same load. As your running a 2nd motor, but it will run at a lower RPM with the 2nd turned on. Single Generator Tests: A fuel efficiency test. Say 1/2 gallon of fuel in a 4500w and a 9000w and a few different tests. How long does it take to run out of fuel at say a 1000w, 2000w and 4000w load to test and see if the smaller engine is always more efficient, or if there is a point where getting near the upper RPM limits starts to take away efficiency and a larger unit running at a lower RPM can actually be more efficient. After that can repeat the tests with the two smaller generators in parallel with only 1/4 gallon each to see how this effects efficiency running two instead of 1. I think those are all good experiments worth exploring. Personally I was only looking at 2x Smaller Units if they could run parallel with 240v, that seems to be really hard to find, so that forced me to get the single larger unit anyways.
Hi, just ordered one of these From Costco. $1299 great price compared to the Honda. My in-laws just moved in don’t want them to freeze if power goes out. Will this run your 5T AC? What adapter should I order for this to plug into my house which is wired for a generator. Did you notice if the motor and parts were made by Yamaha? Great job on the videos. 👍🙏
I have purchased this generator and was wondering.. if the 30 amp socket is 4 prongs and my manual transfer switch is 3 the L14 30R has 4 on both ends, which is the correct number?
This Generator is back in stock at Costco @$1,299.00. No longer on sale but still a good deal. I just ordered mine. My question is though do I need to bond the neutral (with adapter plug) if I am connecting this to my already installed 240v/30A manual transfer switch? Any recommendations for a Ground Bonding plug?
Good morning love your video’s and how much information you give, I find that you are very informative and and as thorough as possible, thank you for all your hard work and useful information I’m just interested in seeing what you may know about the generac 3300 generator as I have one and had to use it a couple of times when the power fails. Any thoughts on it. Thank you your friend from Byron il
Thanks for watching and subscribing The Generac 3300 compact inverter generator, super quiet, light weight actually one of my favorite go to Generators.
I just did some research. Doesn't look like there to fuel efficient from what I read anyway. 10 Hrs of run time on Gas at 25% Load. It's pretty though....:)
@@GeneratorReviews At 11:55 when you remote start it from across the yard, the white light in the lower right comes on as soon as it starts up and goes off when you shut it down. Check it out.
I just got this generator. Remote start has a pretty good range but have to get close for the Remote stop to work. Does anyone know if this is normal or should the stop be working at the same distance as the start? Thanks
Apparently there's no fuel shut off so difficult to run the carburetor low for storage? Fuel tank is pretty small at 3.6 gallons for this size generator but if your main goal is to run it on propane that may be okay for some. The price point is very attractive.. might be able to work around the shortcomings. Also, how many amps are available at 120 volt on 30 amp plug ..for the RV plug? I have 3500 watt generator which gives me 30amps at 120 volt on that plug but a lot of bigger generators... May only give you 20 amps available on that plug.... Less than a smaller generator. My generator has two15 a 120 coils that are put in parallel to provide that plug , when it's in 120 volt mode. When it's in 240 volt mode they each provide one side of the 240 volt plug. Some of the larger 120 / 240 generators do not do that especially the inverter ones ... They limit the 120 volt plugs to only one side of the 240... And they actually can give you less power for your RV than a smaller generator. This is really insane and shows that they don't know what they're doing when they design the generators. Then it gets confusing because many schematics on inverter generators do not show a breaker on the high amp plugs at all... They just may rely on something internal in the inverter for them.... or the motor bogging down
At 2800W on one leg of the 2 120V circuits it begins to flash overload but keeps running. At 3000W it will shut down the output in under 1 minute. So you have about 22 to 23A available on the 30A plug in reality. To get the full wattage you have to spread the loads over both inverter outputs (both hot wires).
@@kylecrane4376 thanks. Thats somewhat dissapointing if you want to use for RV with a single RV plug. I don't think the Chinese understand the US RV market..... And many of these generators are just mass produced Chinese models you can buy off of Alibaba and put your own stickers on them if buy enough ~100. The prices on Alibaba are only a few hundred dollars per unit . I suspect even the champion 7000 I recently ordered will only give 29.2 amps on one side.... But that's okay I bought it for home back up. Still seems sad when my 20-year-old 3500 generator puts out 30. It just seems like the companies are misleading people with an RV plug, and/or really don't know what they're doing. If you have a larger RV with the 50 amp 240/120 plug that's fine. That plug operates as two 120 volt circuits with neutral. and the RVs are usually split for half to go to one ac circuit and half to the other ac... So you would get most of the power. Probably more than you need.
Gavin, after watching a lot of your videos, I've come to consider you the expert on generators, so I look forward to the complete test of this gen. Living in SW Florida, we just had Ian and we were out of power for 4 days. Irma had us out for 12 days. Ian was not a problem for gasoline, but an Irma type storm we would be out of gas, and propane. How would you prepare for that type of storm outage using 2 gens linked. Bigger propane tank would be farther away from the 2 gens, what king of link up?. Storing gas would also be an issue. Look forward to your advise. J
I would get the 40 pound propane bottle with wheels to easily move them around they will store for 25+ years. I prefer the single large generator, just one to maintain even though you lose redundancy.
During Ian I ran a westinghouse df4500. 3.6 gal of gasoline gave me about 16-18 hrs while 30lb propane tank was about 15 hrs. We were out for 10 days...I built myself a siphon pump and took the fuel from all the dead cars on the street before they got towed away. Kept 4 of my neighbors and my on home powered for 265 hrs straight. Necessities the mother of invention lol. Because of his review I ordered the AI 7100 from Costco it is already available and shipped in 7 days. Hoping to be able to test it out tomorrow. 11/12/22. From SWF...thanks Gavin
I noticed the L14-30R receptacle says 120/240V but I don't see a selector switch for selecting whether that outlet gets 240V or 120V like on some other generators, can you explain? Still no user manual online that I can read over about it. Thanks
Looks like it's two hot legs so you have a neutral and two hot leads (and a ground). Each hot is 120V to neutral and 240V between the hots. No need for a switch. If you are using 120V you use one leg to the neutral. If you need 240V then you use the two hots. The other twist lock has the single 30A 120V wiring. That's what it looks like to me anyway
@@joey24698 When I get mine in, I'll try to take a look at what really happens. I suspect based on looking at the schematic that switch is a control signal that shuts down one of two inverters. In testing just a bit before discovering my starter was completely broken I noticed that a 3KW load on the 120V outlets (while in 240 mode) put it into overload before it popped the panel breakers. That leads me to think that it's maybe limited to 2x2800W internally while on 240V mode? But they do say I should be able to get 30A from the 30A twist so if I get it out to my cabin I can load it up with the battery charger and see what really happens in both cases.
@@kylecrane4376 this is what I found out from a manufacture of generators why the switch is used; "120/240V Selector switch - More usable power, more flexibility Choose between using both 120 and 240 Volts, or 120 Volts only. This allows for the total generator output to be available through any of the 120 volt outlets, limited only by the capacity of the individual outlet. This enables you to power units with larger wattage requirements"
Hey Gavin, I ended up with the A-IPower 7600 dual fuel (SUA7600iED). Got it and after firing it up on propane, very quiet ! After an hour, I shut it down with intent to get back to it later and test some loads. When I did, low idle was ok, but when i turned off low idle, the overload feature tripped ??? I simply could not get it to resolve. Anyhow, A-IPower is sending me a new one, and we'll see what happens. This might be one you should profile. Very very quiet. I was surprised... P.s. do these propane generators use a standard propane grill regulator hose size ?? The one they sent with unit was cheap..

First 2 years Parts and Labor
3rd+4th year just Parts.
We are responsible for Labor. A little misleading but the support was very easy to reach and helpful.
All the best to your channel, Mike i.
Thanks Mike
There’s always a curveball somewhere when you see those long warranties
Thanks for sharing this with us
Correction on warranty,
1 year Parts and labor. 2-3 + 4 Parts only.
The GenMax GM900iED? That's what I just got, what was the issue you had with it, and what made you prefer this one?
I like it!
Two things that stand out. The 4 year warranty and the switching over of one fuel source to the other automatically.
Hi Paul. 2 years Parts and Labor and 2 years (3-4) parts only. Guess what? Costco has it for $300 off until 12/13/22 Now $999. Just bought it yesterday. Yamaha (Japanese) engine.
All the best, Mike i.
Thanks!
Truly appreciated
Thanks
Does it have a fuel shutoff or can I run it out of fuel for storage? Also does it have a choke when starting ? Thanks
I think you made the right choice going to the GenMax 9000
Another great video. If this will run your house AC this generator is really impressive.
Excellent, still waiting for the propane use on this generator. I bought one last week, impressive machine.
Curious where you bought your machine....? Thanks.
I buy this generator in Costco.
@@davidsimon6011 Costco on line
@@Jbajapaca what Costco has it in the store? I've only seen it offered online & drop shipped by a-ipower
@@joey24698 yes, I buy online.
Lol….. I knew you wouldn’t resist and sooner or later would order it from costco. Thanks for the video 👍
Thanks Jimmy
You know I had too 😅👍🏾
Looks like the best deal right now. Im definitely getting an update with this model.
FYI - The PK12000 parallel kit is available for order direct from the manufacturer only. Cost is $120. Despite the picture of kit online and a previous comment in this thread, the parallel kit does support 50A at 240V. I received the manual from customer service to confirm.
I don't care how you go about load testing it... just do it already!😁
oh, and thanks for the reviews, they are very helpful.

Good morning buddy! Great video 📹 👍 👏 👌
Yooo! Morning buddy 👍🏾👊🏾💯👌🏾

Home first please and on both gas and propane. Nice features.
Looks like a sweet must have inverter generator. Must be great for camping!
nice intro for this one, looks like Costco has the best deal on this one
Well thought out design, and user friendly for maintenance/ troubleshooting.
I'm a Honda guy but this would be a good option, specially in the price range.. Great warranty AiPower generators have a pretty good reputation.
thanks for having a great channel!!
Thanks for watching and subscribing
What a really great generator they seemed to of thought of everything, I especially like that air filter assembly. The only thing that might seem like a pain is the changing of the battery but definitely not a big deal. I loved how excited you got over the electronic fuel gage . Great video as always Gavin please keep them coming
🤣I’m just a nerd at heart I can’t help it 😅🤓
Trying to hook up a battery tender is a pain, not easy to take out the battery.
I'd hook-up a set of those quick connect leads to the battery to keep it maintained, still don't know why with all the tech they put into these that they haven't put a plug-in port on one of the panels to plug in a battery tender
@@joey24698 The I power 8000 come with a battery tender that is just a plug in. Saw it on You tube.
@@JesusRamos-1224 yes if they have an electric starter that should be a standard feature on them all
I wont steal the hosts thunder and get detailed but for those that are asking, my experience is that the generator supports a sustained load of 2800W on each leg of it's 240V total output (running gasoline).
Well said Kyle👍🏾😊💯 thank you
That's a good point about fuel efficiency.
Yes! I definitely will put it through its paces. hope it can handle a load while doing that.
@@GeneratorReviews I wonder if you have a full tank of gas & a propane tank hooked-up at the same time, what source will it choose to use? I'm thinking gas because of the higher output you would get, but will it?
@@joey24698 That is one of my questions also. The other question I have is there a fuel shutoff to run the carb dry.
@Joe Barry it will prioritize propane before gas. Once propane is gone then it will switch to gas.
@@christopherdiaz1350 Lets see a video of this switchover!

Hey
Thanks for watching my channel and subscribing, I hope all is well.
I am considering upgrading to a generator that is fifty amps capable to run my fifth wheel Rv, good video.
Looks nice. Definitely would like to see the RV test and power quality. Not sure it's reasonable to test it on 5 ton A/C but it might work with the soft start.
Thanks, Xavier
That’s the same way I feel about the 5 ton AC test. Makes more sense as an RV or home back up generator for essential loads.
Now that's a nice one.....lets see how it go thru your testing process!

Wow nice exactly what I was looking for to upgrade. Thanks 👍
Looking forward to your review and testing thx
Can you test voltage drop when switched off while running and when it runs out of fuel. Voltage drops or just cuts power immediately to protect connected devices from low voltage.
Great videos, Gavin. Just received this generator a couple weeks ago and just finished up the break-in
Process What oil do you recommend with this generator and in the manual it says to screw down the oil cap to check the oil or should I just set it on top and check it that way.

When it switches from one fuel source to another, can you take a video of that? Also when it does this switchover automatically, how is power output affected as it happens? A video of this would be great!

I was so giddy when I saw this, I pulled the trigger right away. I actually ordered a second unit for my grandpa. I posted a review on Costco about it. It’s a fantastic unit.
I kicked around making a video, but I’ve never done a TH-cam video before.😂
I put in a NGK iridium plug and it runs even smoother now.
One thing I can’t quite figure out is that both running watt ratings are more than the 30a 120/240v outlet is rated for…so why doesn’t it come equipped with a 50a plug?

Side note we know the Honda EU7000is run time at 1000 watt load is ~50 - 52 mins you don't have to do head to head as you don't want to damage your fuel pump you can now just run test against other gensets and keep a log of run times for fuel economy comparisons.

Another great video by Gavin! Hook that baby up to your home, that's what I wanna see. Is that generator bonded neutral or not? Also on the 240 parallel I did not notice the 4 wire hook-up and it looks like maybe no neutral plug in location, your thoughts?
This one’s actually floating neutral so it’s ready to be hooked up to the home no modification needed.
Thank you for the video, however I recently bought this unit and started up I notice the service reset icon is on green and the service light is always on is that normal?
Just gassed and oiled up...could *not* get remote start or push button to work (to turn on or off), but recoil does--suggestions?

Thanks for the video! In this case, do you have to open up the side of the generator and plug in your own trickle charger or something directly to the battery terminals?
Yes that would work just fine
Hi Gavin. This Generator, I own it. Being that the
THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is less than 3, which is great. Now when the Generator runs out of fuel, what will happen to that beautiful
SINE WAVE???
Can you show us that? So then when we have our equipment attached, we can see if the Sine Wave gets Dirty and could possibly hurt our equipment. Most of us do not own the one you use.
Also the automatic
switch over from propane to gas, what will happen to the Sine Wave for those few moments.
Thanks for everything Gavin. Mike ienuso.
Ok Mike I will do that 👍🏾
Great video as always.
Can you run a full side refrigerator and a full size garage freezer at the same time?
Yes you can do that 👍🏾
Could this one be a Honda EU7000is killer? I love the Honda for it's quiet running and the other features, but paying $6500 CAD for one is outside the realm of common sense. Looking for your opinion on what the best home backup gen would be.
Most definitely just get two of these for a very small fraction of the price of just one Honda EU7000 😉.
I was in the same situation as you!
Yeah this would be where I would go.
what is eco mode compared to regular running mode? what is gainned and lost in kw?
I did do a video like that using smaller generators but I can redo it for the 9000 versus the two 4500
th-cam.com/video/EboCY7Rkhxc/w-d-xo.html
@@GeneratorReviews I'd say that video did a good job of answering most of my questions.
I expect a repeat of the same concept with 2x4500w vs a 9000w except maybe the noise will be a bit different because your not using the super small units.
I'd say its worth repeating only if you want to cover some new ideas not yet covered.
Parallel Tests:
A Sound test of 1 vs 2 for the same generator to see how much noise is added by turning on the 2nd unit with the same load. As your running a 2nd motor, but it will run at a lower RPM with the 2nd turned on.
Single Generator Tests:
A fuel efficiency test.
The 4 prongs is 240v the 3 prongs is 120v
This Generator is back in stock at Costco @$1,299.00. No longer on sale but still a good deal. I just ordered mine. My question is though do I need to bond the neutral (with adapter plug) if I am connecting this to my already installed 240v/30A manual transfer switch? Any recommendations for a Ground Bonding plug?
Assuming your transfer switch only switches the 2 hot lines then you should not use a bonding plug. Your house panel already has the bond.
Thanks for watching and subscribing
The Generac 3300 compact inverter generator, super quiet, light weight actually one of my favorite go to Generators.
This specific generator is made by the Yamaha?
I will look into that if it is, I’ll mention it in the next video
I just did some research. Doesn't look like there to fuel efficient from what I read anyway. 10 Hrs of run time on Gas at 25% Load. It's pretty though....:)
Fuel economy test incoming Gavin?? Honda runs ~50 mins on 32oz of fuel lets see what this one can do :)
10 hours on Gas 25% load. Take in consideration it's a small gas tank 3.6 gallon not 5 as usual.
Great Video Gavin. Would
sure like to see it under load using Propane. When do you think you will compare this to the GenMax 7250?
Yes should have it soon
Hi. When will the GenMax 7250 come out Gavin? Any idea?
All the best to you and family.
Hi Gain learned that GENMAX 7250i will come out by next month. So amazing!
Did you ever try out the 5 ton AC? I was waiting for that
I don’t think it would start the 5 ton ac
Why is the service light on? Is that really a light that shows when it’s on? Does it turn red or something when it needs services?
Hey Robert
That’s just a caution sticker ⚠️ for paralleling it wasn’t on.
@@GeneratorReviews At 11:55 when you remote start it from across the yard, the white light in the lower right comes on as soon as it starts up and goes off when you shut it down. Check it out.
You didnt test sound under load. Their own spec say 68 db....which is pretty loud.
I do the DB test when I do the load test check out some of my other videos
Costco just dropped the price by $300.00. It’s now $999.00. I may have to pick this up now.
Is the included battery charge to charge the internal battery or does it already charge in place?
The internal battery is charged when the engine runs but I will test if it works both ways.
Hello Gavin, what happens with the complete review video of this generator?
I should be reviewing it soon the weather changed on us.
Que consumo de gas propano tiene el GXS7100iRD - Generator inverter de 7100 vatios a 1/4 de carga 1275w ? Y a cuantos dB suene a esa misma carga?
Do you know what size quickconnect is needed for propane?
I think it’s a 1/4
@@GeneratorReviews Got the unit today. Looks like it's actually 3/8.
I just got this generator. Remote start has a pretty good range but have to get close for the Remote stop to work. Does anyone know if this is normal or should the stop be working at the same distance as the start? Thanks
What kind of range are you working with? Is it more than 60 feet?
@@kylecrane4376 new to generators. How do you spread the hot legs around to make use of the full generators. Thanks
just wanted to let the group know this is On Sale right now @ Costco for $999.99 Sale price is good 12/7/22 - 12/13/22
👍🏾💯👌🏾🎉Nice looking out!
11/12/22. From SWF...thanks Gavin
this inverter can drain the gasoline?
Yes you can drain the carburetor by letting it run out of gas when the fuel selector valve is closed 👍🏾
@@kylecrane4376 I fully understand that but they have always used a switch on their gens to switch between 120 & 240, wondering why?
@@kylecrane4376 I'm confused you start out saying when you get yours, then you go on to talk about testing it??
@@kylecrane4376 this is what I found out from a manufacture of generators why the switch is used; "120/240V Selector switch - More usable power, more flexibility
Choose between using both 120 and 240 Volts, or 120 Volts only. This allows for the total generator output to be available through any of the 120 volt outlets, limited only by the capacity of the individual outlet. This enables you to power units with larger wattage requirements"
Hey Gavin,
I ended up with the A-IPower 7600 dual fuel (SUA7600iED).
As long as it’s the same fittings, I don’t see why it shouldn’t be able to work with the different line. I will get the 7600 soon.
Hi Gavin. Thanks for the video. Ended up buying this generator, Made my purchase decision easier. One question. What do think about magnetic dipsticks and is there an aftermarket one made that fits? Thanks.
If you want to get one you can but I think changing the oil is the best way to ensure your engine last longer
@@GeneratorReviews Very good. Thank you!
FedEx most love delivering these
Yep! I bet they hate them the boxes are always on their last leg 😅
Do you think it will run the 5 ton with your soft start?
I’m going to be testing it soon
