Why I replaced my Taurus G3 with the Sar9

  • I've moved on from the Taurus G3 because I found something I like better and that I feel I shoot more accurately. SAR9 a Turkish import that can be found for a little looking under $250.00. So far it has been fantastic and in my opinion is the new winner of the midsize handguns under $300

Welcome to the world of Turkish pistols!
I bought a SAR 9X Platinum when they were going for under $500. It really opened my eyes to the quality of the Turkish pistols.
Soon after I also picked up a Canik TP9SF Elite, Canik TP9 Elite SC and a Tisas 1911 Duty 45 ACP. The Canik’s have some of the best out the box triggers of any manufacture.
The Tisas 1911’s are quality and reliable guns and can often be found for under $350 for the entry model. This makes them the most affordable 1911’s on the market.

Good video. I love the Sar9 and picked up 2 of them from PSA for $249.99 each with the $30 rebate. It’s the best gun on the market at this price and is worth what you paid for it. The quality is really good and mine have been 100% reliable. It’s definitely accurate and a great pickup. Congratulations enjoy your Sar9!

Sar, great pistol. Mags and parts hard to get. Sold my Sar9 and Taurus G3. Bought Walther PDP and a CZ P-10c.

I've been ordering my mags directly from Sar USA. It's the only place I've been able to find them.

First, thank you for the video. I was thinking of purchasing a G3 for my first pistol and home defense gun. A close friend of mine mentioned Sar 9 to me. Saying it has the proven reliability without breaking the bank. With you easily switching from the G3 to a Sar 9, makes my decision a bit more clearer. Thanks again for the video!!

I have the g3c and the g2c and they're really good firearms. The wear doesn't bother me but I like some wear on my tools, shows I've been using them. As far as Turkish guns go I buy canik. I have a canik tp9sf elite and a tp9sa, both are very reliable guns with a lot of features. I carry the g3c daily. I've seen the sar pistols but the gun shop I use says that magazines and spare parts are hard to find unless you order them directly from sar.

I just did the same comparison with the G3 and the Sar9. I only bought the Sar9 because I had to send my G3 to Taurus for repair. I guess that it was meant to be because the Sar9 is so lovely (that rhymed btw. lol). 3 days ago I got my G3 back and went sofort to the range to compare the two. I am digging the Sar9, but the G3 has a much smoother feeling trigger. It's flatter and easier to squeeze in my opinion. The take-back is longer due to the double strike capability, but as mentioned the G3 just seems easier to shoot. But if I were to ever have to go back to war, I'm taking the Sar9, hands down. It is built for the battlefield and it has eaten everything that I have fed it. Everything! No hiccups! Nothing! I can't say that for the G3. I guess that I'll see the durability of both very soon. Because I plan to shoot the hell outta both of them. But there is no way I'm getting rid of my G3. lol

Both pistols have good and bad points. Bad point on the SAR 9, they only give a one year warranty. To me, this is terrible, I don't care how little it costs. Second, the cost of magazines is terrible. For awhile after I got mine, you had to get on a waiting list with an independent supplier to even get a spare magazine. This took me several months to buy three more magazines. Now, you can order the 17 round magazines directly from SAR, but they are overly expensive. The Taurus has a better warranty, a second strike feature on the trigger. The Taurus G3C has Glock compatible sites, just like a GX4. Finding a holster is easy to do for the Taurus, not so much for the SAR 9. Some people have found that certain Glock 19 holsters will fit the SAR 9, but not all. The SAR 9 is recommended to be broken in with several hundred rounds of 124 grain NATO ammo, this is to break in the recoil springs and help ease the gritty trigger pull. The G3 or G3C will fire anything right out of the box just fine. I have both pistols and will not get rid of either. They both have their purposes that I use them for, but I would not get rid of my Taurus G3 to buy another SAR 9. I'd just buy another SAR 9.

Bought a new Taurus G3 last year... a total POS. Couldn't fire a full mag without a malfunction. Tried all sorts of ammo and new mags, only SIG 265 ammo would run more than one mag without malfunction. Polished the ramp and all the other recommended stuff with no success. Didn't feel like the hassle of sending another Taurus back for repair. Sold it to a new gunsmith for his training and practice. Replaced the G3 POS with a Stoeger STR-9 that's fantastic... eats everything. Taurus still sucks!

personally my sar9 has replaced my glocks, my S&w m&ps, as my carry guns and my home defense guns. I have had better reliability and accuracy from the sar as well as better ergonomics. those sights will dimly glow if you charge them with a flash light

My G3 and G3c Toro has been 100% reliable and has eaten everything the market has to offer for 9mm I been trying to get my hands on a Sar but MA is communist state so the only way I could get one is buying it from a cop or Military personal but haven’t found one that has bought one and wants to sell it yet here 😪 but it’s a great looking gun and just like Taurus G series guns more pros than Cons wish I could get one in this state

I like the gun for the price, but I received one bad mag with mine. Dimensions at the top of the mag are different, and the feed lips are longer. It sends the cartridges under the feed ramp, and jams up the slide. My Emails, and phone calls to their customer service get zero response. A one year warranty, and they can’t even honor that. Not the great deal if I have to buy an expensive replacement magazine.
