In which the gentleman in question regales you with tales of the forgotten Clan of Death known as the Cappadocians. What became of the Cappadocians and how did they meet their end?
On my VTM game’s discord group I was typing Cappadocian and it got autocorrected into “cappuccino donut” so now cappadocians are now unofficially known as “Cappuccino Donut” in our game.
Putting this playlist on auto play whilst I'm super sick has got to be one of the best things to help me sleep AND keep me entertained. Your voice is beautiful.
@woodwwad I can't believe I missed the part about diablerising God. You'll have to make up for it if you do a response! I didn't intend for the Giovanni to be sympathetic, but I can see why they did what they did. Very much a self-fulfilling prophecy, the Cappadocian visions of clan destruction.
It has been about 3 years since I have sat down to roleplay at all, but i found myself curious as to what I could find on my favorite clan. I type in Cappadocians, and here this is. Cappadocians was my obsession for a long time. Played dark ages games as cappadocians, refused to ever play as Giovanni (for what they did to my favorite clan :P), and was often granted permission to play as a Harbringer across multiple different games. I found your explanation of the clan very well done.
@mollytherealdeal They're a different kind of clan; often scholars or seneschals. Their influence over other vampires and mortal affairs is impressive.
EAT GOD! Excellent details on how the entombment happened & why. You seem to make the Giovanni a little bit sympathetic. I think you are right with that being his plan. I was able to meet Augustis in a DA game once, actually while he was still mortal. rated as always
I'd like to correct you as per when the Cappadocian or Cappadocious was Diablerized around 1444, so mid 15th century. In the 1700s, so 18th century the Camarilla declared them extinct. I myself play a 2000 year old Cappadocian/Lamian that currently in Modern Nights has hidden himself within the Giovanni. He plots to ultimate destruction of the Giovanni.
There is one thing you failed to mention. Augustus and Laz REALLY started to feel that Cappadocious himself was losing it, after he decided that in order to fully unlock the secrets of life and death he would have to Diablerize God itself. He was supposedly very close to potentially ascending through the Path of Heaven, which MIGHT have given him access to do such...
Such a great video! Playing Giovanni Chronicles right now and im loving it! You have a very good insight in clan lore and generell cainite interactions, very intelligent!
Moving finally over, internet achieved. I rather enjoy this review, and am planing a Dark Ages game that's going to start next tuesday. Great vid as always!
It most likely isn't canon, but my favorite books are The Masquerade of the Red Death. A 4th gen childe of Cappadocius, Lameth, was a powerful mage from Atlantis. Stories about the antediluvians are the most interesting.
But how can anyone be sure? I like to tease like this. Whenever a Cappadocian proponent pops up to swear to the survival I always like to take the Giovanni side, and vice versa.
@BirthOfSerpents I think Uncle Auggie was only killed easily due to it happening in the Gehenna scenario, where all the vampires were incredibly weak anyway. I think the Giovanni would give the Harbingers a good run for their money. There are, after all, a lot more Giovanni than there are Harbingers.
From what I take and those I play with take, Harbingers of Skulls are those from the Feast of Folly. We dont include them in our games as we dont play end of days.
It is not a possibility,it is a certainty. Even without the time of judgement books it is clear a couple to a few dozen survived. Most are either Hos or with Lazarus and the setites.
@Chiived Well it's not always daytime in the desert, and if dawn approached the vampire could either dig a hole in the ground and bury himself, erect a heavy material tent like a nomad might, or otherwise use Protean to become one with the earth.
This is my favorite clan; I'm hoping that Bloodlines 2 mentions them at the very least. I would like to believe that this clan STILL exists. They are the clan of death; you can't destroy death itself. My second favorite clan is the Tremere, of course.
they still exist. mahatma, lazarus and some other metzeluhas are not gone. the main reason why giovanni won against cappadocians was their meeting. cappadocian metseluhas and other elders (5-6 generations) were at their meeting and then their ante sealed them. if they had been not sealed they would've destroy giovanni inbreds very easy.
@BirthOfSerpents Oh quite possibly, but that's the openness of the World of Darkness! After all, the Harbingers do have the Sabbat on their side. If they know about the Endless Night then they just need to make the Sword of Caine aware of the Giovanni's destructive aims and the entire sect will come down on them.
@boltorange Well Dark Ages has a lot more talk of Christian dogma given the crusades era. Cappadocius actually had visions of diablerising God. I have ordered the book indeed! I hope it turns out as good as it sounds.
@boltorange If you believe the mythology / history in it that Caine was the first vampire then it strongly holds to the Judeo - Christian origins of vampires. Many vampires have many theories however, that do contradict that.
Sounds like a lot of the basic thematic ideas (The obsession with death, it's origin and destination) seems to have been passed on to Geist in certain respects. Maybe I'm just reading too much into it.
Today, you would learn that the Cappadocians are not what they are now. In the Dark Ages, they had been all but destroyed, yet there had been many of them throughout the land. Such a tragic event, really. To have an entire clan of vampires wiped off from the face of the earth. It is quite sad, indeed. I hold Giovanni responsible for this act of genocide.
@Wendigorain Well quite. You could see it that Uncle Auggie was doing the world a favour, but I very much doubt that the Giovanni patriarch was nearly so altruistic.
@clackclickbang yea, I would remove the diablire part, as the postion of userpers belongs to clan tremere. Though I would keep the giovanni mostly the same just a ghoul family/bloodline of the cappadocians. but maybe this is just me.
Lazarus was the leader of the cappadocians who escaped into the shadow lands there to become the Harbingers of Skulls having returned to the skin lands/mortal plane afer the powerful storm which swept the shadowland and weakend the barriers between the realms just enough for the harbingers to return
@@gegensw4500 i think that what their version of necromancy is. it not like they forgot their mortis discipline but it's more on the lines of necromancy is an improvement over mortis which necromancy come from.

I'm currently playing a Cappa and was just curious if in your vast wisdom you had any idea towards the rate and extent of Cappa decomposition me and my ST are guessing there must be a point where it stops? or will i end up (should i survive that long) a skeleton wrapped in tight skin with no eyes hair etc? any advice or knowledge would be great!

i am new to this,,, what's the base for this population,,, are we talking about true history, the blood line of cain,, or some video game called mascarade?
@clackclickbang Yeah, that's why I capped it for you. I will likely do a response on this, as the vamp I played the longest was from this clan. But I'll likely do it after the other 7 modern clans are covered & yes, I'll vid response it back here. You should vid response this to my giovanni clan vid. They did come off a little sympathetic at first but not too much as you went along.
On my VTM game’s discord group I was typing Cappadocian and it got autocorrected into “cappuccino donut” so now cappadocians are now unofficially known as “Cappuccino Donut” in our game.

My favorite clan. I will never forgive Giovanni for what they did to the priestly scholars of death.

You should make a video about clan Lamia. If you never heard of it, you can find it in Dar Ages books
Dark* Ages

Imaginary Star Studios Are they really kess minor tgen the Samedi or the Daughters of Cacaphone?

Giovanni plotted to Diablarize 4/4/1444 treaty with Camarilla was signed in 1528
@Deckof51 No no, you're right. A lot of Clan Cappadocian / Giovanni and Wraith was transferred to Geist.
i hope to play as them in vtm2
They're in Vampire: The Masquerade books. Look them up on drivethrurpg. There are loads.

The Giovanni sleep with corpses just to enrage the wraiths and make them easier to bind.
I find it impossible to believe ALL Cappadocians were wiped out. Like a few couldn't sleep a few centuries to hide out? Come on!
@DarkMageCollector It's a popular trope, but it's because it works!
