Hello Forrest - I really enjoy watching your reviews, they are among the best on TH-cam and very informative and enjoyable. I wanted EXACTLY the vehicle you tested. Green/grey SX with Prestige Package. I called AND emailed every dealer within 500 miles of Austin, TX with an offer to put money down immediately if they would order me one/secure one within a 4 month period (before my lease was up). Many dealers didn't even bother to respond, those who did either tried to sell me what they had on the lot (I was very specific in what I was looking for) or wanted $4,000 - $7,000 over list price (for a KIA!). One dealer promised to get me one if I drove there (total of 3 hour drive) to sign a contract and then showed me the finger when I actually showed up. I was lied to and misinformed by so many different sales people at different KIA dealerships that I got the impression they are almost all shady and non trustworthy. The car might be great, the dealer network is shady as hell and I have already talked three friends out of KIA's (I'm the "car guy" for almost everyone around me) due to my terrible experience with their dealer network. Cars like the Stinger and the Telluride are overshadowed by shady dealers with terrible business practices. I won't be back to KIA anytime soon after my experience with them, and I won't be recommending them to anyone while they have such a dismal dealer network.
Thank you so much for this review! I was pretty convinced I was going to buy it before I saw your review, but your review made me feel like it's definitely the right choice. I'm married with no kids, but I live in a really rural place two hours away from a major city, so I needed something with AWD and lots of space that can take a full days shopping in it that has a seriously comfortable ride, that's still easy to drive in town too. This sounds perfect for me! PS My husband's name is Forrest. :)
They're selling like crazy! My 2 local dealers can hardly keep them on their lots for more than a day or two. Curious to see how the Palisade does vs. this one on sales as they're closely related.
I favor the telluride as well. However, the palisade electric 34d row is very appealing. Love the 2nd row captain chairs, but a bench is worth more for the buck considering seating
I totally get it, Forrest. We’re a family of five, and the CX5 isn’t cutting it. I like the CX9, but the Telluride is such a better package, overall. The one major flaw of the Telluride, though, is the unavailability of a second row bench in SX trim, at least here in the states. I would like to be able to get all the bells and whistles without sacrificing practicality. Great review! Thanks!
KIA's market research indicated that the top trim SX configuration would appeal most to those with smaller families willing/able to pay the additional $$$. As I'm sure you realize, Bill, kids are expensive. ;) They expected the EX trim level to be the volume sales leader for larger families while the SX would project a more "luxury" vibe with captain chairs. Further, KIA traditionally limits individual options at each trim level compared to European and American manufacturers. That results in lower production costs that are passed on to customers. In this case, however, the demand for the top trim SX level has been surprisingly strong. And you're not alone in wanting a bench seat option for that trim. KIA is already struggling to keep up with demand for the Telluride, especially the SX trim, but I strongly suspect you'll see a bench seat option beginning with the next model year or even as a mid-year option offered with the 2020 calendar year.
@@madisonspears8930 That's likely because the Palisade is designed for international markets while the Telluride is aimed exclusively at North America.

This is the ultimate luxury suv designed by engineers hired away from Audi and Mercedes No wonder it’s called the Korean Cadillac or Korean Mercedes. It was awarded Motor Trend luxury suv of the year too
I test drove this SUV, a few weeks ago, its truly amazing. Starting to see more and more on the roads. They are extremely hard to get here in KC. Definitely a real winner. Thank you for your review. You did an outstanding job of presenting this beautiful SUV. Keep up the good work!
Ordered my 2021 SX Nighfall in August and will be picking it up in a week. Been binge-watchiing review videos ever since - this is a great review. Can't wait to take delivery.
Worth noting that among the few significant differences between the Telluride and the Palisade is the availability of a powered third row raising/lowering feature on the Hyundai compared to the manual system on the Telluride. Not surprising that the Palisade offers it in accord with the somewhat more "luxurious" vibe of the Hyundai. But unless you have arms like a T-Rex the Telluride does have several advantages. First, it's MUCH quicker to raise/lower the third row in the Telluride. In fact, the powered system of the Palisade has to be the slowest on the planet. Waiting for the third row to lower itself is so time consuming that an owner can practically have a cuppa tea during the operation. As Forrest demonstrates the Telluride's system takes less than five seconds. Second, the motors and wiring for the Palisade's system apparently results in the loss of about 3 cubic feet in the cargo space behind the third row. The Telluride's 21 cubic ft is second only to the much larger Chevy Traverse (23 cf) in the midsize SUV segment while the Palisade has the same 18 cf as the Honda Pilot and the Subaru Ascent. The difference may not seem to be especially significant but when a three row SUV is packed with passengers and gear/luggage every bit of cargo space is important. Finally, the Telluride's manual system is virtually failure proof. Electric motors and electronic controls in the Palisade? Not so much. The issue isn't a deal breaker one way or the other but considering how nearly identical the two vehicles are in so many areas, it's worth noting.
I may be late but it seems like your intro graphics/logo have been updated. Idk but it looks nice. Sorry if you did it a while ago and I'm just noticing. Nice review, good job at what you do. I'm trying to get my fro like yours. Take care man.
Awesome reviewer. I've watched tons n tons of review and you are definitely in top 10 Please review Hyundai palisade limited and do comparison between these two
I know I'm over a year late commenting on this video. Forrest you're in top 3 video reviewers. I have the 2021 kia Telluride it's the white pearl. I have the SX prestige package also i added the running boards, and also i added the mood color lights to the floor so it changes with the ambeint lights. Also i chaned the step in plate as you step into the suv, it lights up and spell TELLURIDE. I think my suv is a step above the regular SX prestige it has extra options/toys..😃 Oh and by the way i live in Fort Worth Texas also. I would love for u to see my Telluride before it gets to old. I purchase it from Moritz Kia of Hurst. I had to order it and i waited 4 months for my SUV. It was worth the wait. I love it to the moon and back. Take care..!
This car is amazing except for 2 points. 1: from a 3,8L V6 I expected more than 290hp, they should've turbocharged it to 350 or something around that number. And 2: it needs digital instrument clusters. For the rest, this car is amazing 👌🏼👌🏼
You won't see a turbo version of the Telluride's 3.8L engine for several reasons. First, scalding performance in a mainstream 3 row crossover ranks about 20th among the top 10 priorities of buyers. You'll see that option on an Explorer ST and some versions of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango, all at a significantly higher price and a minuscule take rate. KIA is already struggling to meet the massive demand for the Telluride. They're VERY unlikely to divert production to a much more expensive "performance" version that few buyers want. Second, both KIA and Hyundai have traditionally been challenged in terms of fuel economy across their entire product lineup. The 3.8L engine in the Telluride (and the Palisade) runs the Atkinson cycle that sacrifices some performance in favor of fuel efficiency to address that weakness. Adding a turbo V6 to their lineup makes meeting CAFE standards even more difficult. Third, any KIA exec that suggests a high performance Telluride that would cannibalize sales from the forthcoming Genesis SUV would be found clearing out their desk before the end of the week.
I’m pretty sure dealerships usually sell separately remote starters for cars so I’m sure you could buy one for several hundred bucks. Also analog cluster will basically never fail on you while digital as cool as it is can lag with time or even break down and will be costly to fix
The way you showcased this car. You have almost convinced me to buy this car. I am confused between this and palisade now all I need is to go to dealer and do a test drive. I am upgrading to this or palisade by March of 2020.
Hi, Is that Dark Moss paint more of Bronze or Green color? under sun-light, overcast, and street-light? I kept seeing it as brownish, but Kia said it's dark green?
I watched a lot of reviews on this car but where can I buy this???? I am from NC and for months I was asking dealers here if they have or I can order SX Prestige but all of them can't tell when they can have it!
Same old bs! Great reviews, great value, but you cannot get them!!!! You have to order & wait & the completely disorganized company cannot tell you anything. Call Kia corporate & be told “we’ve had customers wait 8 months because they’re so popular.” Wtf?! MAKE MORE CARS! EXPAND PRODUCTION! HIRE MORE PEOPLE! But do stop running ads for cars that don’t exist. The lots are bare!
Despite all of these , it lacks a basic feature that even a ~$20,000 sedan has - "Auto Door Lock". None of the trim has auto door lock, making it uberly uncomfortable to always press the keys once you leave the vehicle.
Correct! So maybe in the ads or reviews they should start saying “and for $5,000 down it’s only $600/month to lease a KIA!” Really??? But not to worry since the lots are always bare due to extremely slow production.
If by incredible bargain you mean the top line SX in 2021 model is actually close to $58k due to dealers pricing this up as much as $10k above MSRP as many sources can tell you. That is an absurd amount of money to pay for this considering people who review it after the honeymoon phase cite multiple issues with quality. If anyone is going to pay $58k for this, look around at the competitors for that price range because you're not playing in the same space as Honda, Mazda, Subaru, etc. I'll stick with out-the-door pricing 8-10% below MSRP than $10k above MSRP any day!
Reason I love it is because it looks like a more affordable Range Rover. Just wish the whole name and brand of Kia wasn’t so lame lol anytime I hear the word Kia I think of cheap junk even though lately they’ve been crushing it
