    Excellent procedure for replacing those cam sensors...I really enjoyed the attention to detail as far as cleaning, and applying dyelectric grease to connections...I'm getting an intermittent P1078 which I believe is due to connection corrosion...The sensor is basically a dumb coil pickup, it either works or not...I believe that the failure has to due with the internal solder joint cracking/failing due vibration/heat cycles...Also the o-rings in those connectors are not 100% weather tight so corrosion can occur on the contracts and give you problems...

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ya I put a thin layer on dielectric on every plug I find. I've worked on so many cars that are older and see corrosion in the plugs as the seals either do a poor job from the beginning or degrade. I think that's why our vehicles don't really ever have sensor issues unless a sensor actually fails. That and upgrading grounds.

    Hi Anthony. Glad to see you're still replying to comments on this video after quite some time - a lot of YT videos get stranded and ignored by the content creator and to see you still replying is very nice of you!
    I just fixed a nasty misfire on my 350Z (2004 DE), my MAF needed cleaning & I put in a new ignition coil in cylinder 2 (as well as changing all of the spark plugs). Think I'm going to change all of the ignition coils in due course, just for the sake of preventative maintenance, as I'm on 120K miles now.
    I think once I have changed all of these coils, I'm going to attempt the CPS's, makes sense to invest a little chunk of cash - it's worth it just for the peace of mind I think. This video has been an invaluable resource & my profuse thanks to you for making it easy to understand and follow for morons like me 😊

      Thanks for watching! I would do crank and cam positions sensors first from Hitachi. They all seem to be going now due to age and are much cheaper.
      Swapping all of your ignition coils is going to be expensive. Have you upgraded the grounds of the charging system yet?

    Good afternoon. I recently replaced all 3 sensors in my 2004 350z DUE TO A LATE IGNITION START, AND MY OBD codes 0340 and 0335. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of buying very inexpensive SENSORS. Well, in less than 80 miles, the codes came back on the DASH and the symptoms as well. I ordered NEW NISSAN OEM sensors, and I am planning on replacing them again, however... I am curious to know your opinion. Do youy think that my problem is the CHEAP REPLKACEMENT SENSORS, or do I have something else going on? My Z only has 68000 miles on it. Thank you for your response. DIEGO

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the problem went away with the new sensors for a bit, it's most likely due to being cheaper quality. I only buy OEM grade with sensors, nothing else is more consistent.

    Would a bad camshaft sensor cause a misfire??! I replaced my plugs and it caused my Z to misfire(revup). I swapped plugs, worked then started misfiring, swapped coils and still misfires. • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Highly likely. Also a timing chain tensioner not working properly could also be the cause. At this age of the vehicle it's a good idea to change the camshaft and crank position sensors.

    Normally this issue starts creeping up about every year or two the sensors ( at least in my case die) and I end up replacing em.
    I have currently gone though 4 pairs of these sensors and thanks to the discount auto warranty I just have to bring em in and I get a fresh pair. Every other sensor I have bought before this has like 90 days warranty.
    I even got to the point where I bought a spare set of sensors and I keep them in the car just in case they die when Im driving. : / I havent found any other sensor that lasts longer that 2 years and comes with such a warranty.

      Definitely a preventive maintenance can be a long video on it's own.
