Hello to you from South Africa….its bucketing down here as well….so great to see Gary back again and to hear he has a job now, well done Gary….. Take care and be safe.
"Just be careful" he says and drops it. Do you mind, I'm laying in hospital with a catheter in me. PMSL!! Mind you, I haven't got much choice but peeing myself with that in. Terrific video chaps as always. Good to see you Gary.
Watched your video on your spray booth, you still using it, looked great when you finished it. Great video, typical English weather lol. Fork rebuild and refitted, well done!
Hey team how are you all doing? My dad owned a FZ 750 (Exup Valve one) And a 1000cc Thunderace (had the Exup valve too, same engine in the early R1 😉) He always liked the riding position of the Fazer but had a close call on the Ace, was sheer skill and thinking that saved him and the bike from damage! Right enough rambling from me, always remember to hang the calipers from a bungee to stop the flexi pipes from stretching 😉 simply a small bit of constructive feedback.... I wish you all the best in the sale of the bike. Keep up the brilliant content and keep safe! Calum
Great video , never tried this before , doesn't look that hard to replace fork seals with the right tools. Good to see the project man back at it. Thanks Phil
Hi Martin, I bought extra long 3/8" Allen keys for this job so I could set the correct torque when I reassembled the fork rather than "FT" with a standard Allen key. Rob
Want to get it sold asap as the summer is just about over. I've never tried doing fork seals. Your forks look mint, not like the rusty/pitted yokes we used to have in the old days.
Really nice looking bike. I’ll be looking for one of these probably next year with a view to doing my proper bike test. Nice to see bike content on the channel again too.
Love this colour on early fazers.Just as shame I could,nt bid on it last time it was on ebay as I need to shift my 600 diversion....1992...with less than 12k on it.Hope you,re all doing well.Love to Gary and family, sadly,we know how your feeling right now,so wishing you all the best.Time is a healer mate.Take Care.
Great video love a fazer why is it everyone seems to panic when buying a bike about the fork seals i recently sold a 600 bandit there was nothing wrong with the seals but people say they go all the time so like you i done them took pics and kept receipt the bike sold easy as all the best take care love the poly tunnel proper home mechanics
@retrorestore: Thanks for sharing this video with us, your subscribers in other parts of the globe. It is certainly very informative. Where is your moto repair shop located in the United Kingdom of Great Britain, in London, or where at?
Hi man! Got a question, I just wanna do a quick oil change on my fzs 600 forks to see if it improves since I don't wanna spend a lot in this bike yet. Do you think that I could change the oil without disassembling forks? My thought was that I could just undo the top and bottom bolt, let the oil dip from the bottom and then refill from the top and call it a day. Is this possible? My fork is not leaking ATM so I thought this could be a good fix for now since it's really soft
Bit of a late reply, as only just found this, but ideally you should really take them off and get some brake cleaner inside them as they can collect sludge at the bottom over time. The main inexpensive trick that makes a very noticeable difference, in my personal opinion, is upgrading the standard 10w grade fork oil to 15w oil. The difference in handling is like night and day. Make sure you get the correct oil levels though, as 98/99 forks don't have load adjusters at the top so need more oil, whereas the 00/03 bikes require less oil due to the added adjusters, so check the manual for levels for your bike. I've had a 2000 plate Fazer for 15 years now, and it's still going strong, and i just had a Cat. Converter fitted to make it ULEZ compliant in London. Fantastic bikes as long as you make a little effort to look after them properly, but i s'pose that applies to anything.
@@dsilvester thanks for the answer. I ended up removing them since it was way easier than I thought, and fitted 15w oil. Forks improvement was noticeable, still soft compared to modern forks but it's what it is. Feels even softer now on summer with the higher temperatures as well, but good enough for a commuter! I'm really pleased with the bike considering the price
The fork springs on the Fazer are progressive , the spring rate changes as they compress, that's why the coils are more tightly wound at one end, the ones you showed on camera came out the right way with the tightest wound part at the top. If you put the tightest wound part in first, you've fitted them incorrectly.
Fork springs can go either way around - makes no difference. I just make sure both sides are the same but it doesn't really matter - the springs don't care which way up they are, they will work just the same. th-cam.com/video/9-2xt7PV_hA/w-d-xo.html

Well done lads. Bought back the memories of midnight oil being burnt getting bikes prepped to go racing next day.
"Just be careful" he says and drops it. Do you mind, I'm laying in hospital with a catheter in me. PMSL!! Mind you, I haven't got much choice but peeing myself with that in. Terrific video chaps as always. Good to see you Gary.
Yes, I thought i'd leave that in lol
I've still got my Fazer it's wicked. Done a tasteful street fighter mod. Still turns heads and it's so old the kids don't want to steal it ftw

Where is your moto repair shop located in the United Kingdom of Great Britain, in London, or where at?
We don't have a shop.
Coolest bike ever. You need a bigger MaH battery for your 3/8 driver. 8 mah works good. 12 mah works better.
Brilliant video lads 👌🏻
Thanks Dan👍
Another Job Well Done!
I always bleed the air out, also use a bag good practice.
Just got to be careful moment made me laugh 😆
what is the oil capacity for this fork? I have read some forums but everybody mentions an air gap? what is it?
