Tall Structure analysis for Lateral Load and Construction Stage using RAM Structural: An Overview

  • Tall structure design is a specific field which requires extensive calculation and advanced analysis. Several advanced structural elements like shear core, belt truss or outrigger elements are used in tall building along with advanced analysis like dynamic analysis with p-delta analysis or construction stage analysis.
    In this video, I have provided an overview how we can easily model and analyze any tall building using RAM Structural System. Effect of lateral load on tall building and consideration of construction stage and drift control is covered.

    how the seismic analysis for 3 under ground basement please speak something about yhis

      For the portion of the structure which is below ground level, seismic force distribution is different (VBu is calculated separately). You can go through IS1893 (part 1):2016 code where you can find how the seismic forces are calculated and distributed for underground structure. Same is implemented in STAAD (you need to define additional parameter to inform program about the underground structure) and RAM structural. If you have multiple basements, you only need to define few additional parameters to consider the seismic force distribution properly. I will try to cover this aspect in detail in seismic analysis series which I plan to release later this year.

      This is a very interesting topic indeed. And RAM Concept has a very powerful design engine which not only can design post-tension slab, but also can optimize the tendon layout for a more economic design. I will cover both RCC and post tension slab design using RAM Concept in 2022.
