Dean, thank-you. I'm a real life nurse, and my bedside manner is actually a lot like Ms Pomfrey. Ravenclaw's make the bestest Healers. and I didn't know about Hanna Abbott becoming a healer after marrying Neville, good for your Hanna, Hogwarts is in good hands.
@@malenasander7906 Both actually, she applied to become a healer after replacing Tom at the Leaky Cauldron. She then applied to replace Ms Pomfrey, I think to be closer to Neville.
I like that analysis. Im sort of an unconditional Ravenclaw. But i do identify with healers. Im a reverand and hold altruism in the highest regard. I always try to listen and share wisdom. I just work with people on our souls instead of our physicality. In my own experience much of my physical ailings are my own doing. If we disciplined our minds and spirits to live healthier lifestyles we wouldnt put so much stress on the doctors and healthcare professionals. Im working on me too. Healing is one of the noblest professions i think. We take our healers for granted like they have the fix all for anything on deck and dont work themselves ragged. Thank you to all the medical practitioners out there
Dean, I feel like madam pomfrey was sorted into hufflepuff. First with her fighting fearlessly in the battle of hogwarts beside dumbledore and the rest of the teachers shows that she is very loyal. Second, with her being the school nurse for over 35 years, shows that she truly cares about her job and the students at hogwarts. Third (this doesn't go along with the answer) I want to thank you dean for making your videos. It brings me joy when you explain the life of some of my favorite characters in the wizarding world.
For her dedication to healing magic and her companionable bedside manner, I always felt Madame Pomfrey was a Hufflepuff. It's a surprise, and a joy, to hear she was a Ravenclaw, and that Hanna Abbott became a healer under her tutelage. All doctors and nurses, be they mundane or magical, are as close to real life superheroes as we have in real life, at least in my opinion. They bravely battle an enemy so small, it cannot be seen with the naked eye, yet it does devastating damage to a person's wellbeing from the inside-out. That's to say nothing of broken bones, kidney stones, or even just simple cuts and scrapes. It is wonderful to see Poppy Pomfrey being given her due as head nurse at Hogwarts.
I truly love Madam Pomfrey She truly cared for everyone and never discriminated against an individual. And it was obvious that that part of her had nothing to do with her profession. She had that kind but firm attitude that made you like her and you knew when you were in the infirmary she was in charge. I actually would’ve put her in Slytherin because of how she can make even the toughest person cower in her domain and she was always determined. Btw this was a really great life description :-)
The whole family is glad your channel is up and running. From grandma and grandpa ( who baught us the books). to mom and dad who read them to us (and themselves).and to our kids who are seeing and hearing it for the first time. Harry potter 4 ever!!!
I believe Madam Pomfrey would be a Ravenclaw too. You have to be able to retain knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the entire human body. Not an easy task by any means. Her knowledge and ability to question how accidents happened is very intelligent. And she was able to keep things confidential, which goes along with the medical profession. Loved this video. Keep them coming!
You know all I have to do is pop on one of your videos and I feel so relaxed and comforted. I watch them for the information but I’ve rewatched all your vids at least three to four times because I just feel so at peace with them on as background music or when I go to sleep ☺️💗💗
Just as usual! Great video Dean. Loved it. Madame Pomfrey is one of the most unsung heroes of the whole series and needed recognition which she got now that you have posted this video. Loved it a lot. Loads of Love
Maybe it was a fanfic, but I recall her being very close to Professor Sprout, which makes sense as they would work together to get ingredients needed for medicines. Her tireless work effort as well makes me think she was very much a Hufflepuff, even if her bedside manner seemed brusque to Harry. She had a lot of patients, so she wasn't going to hold the hand of a silly Gryffindor boy who was healing nicely. I'd rather a tireless hardworking 'Puff to a head in their books Ravenclaw who might want to experiment on me! I'm a Ravenclaw, and while I do have a proclivity toward medicine, I could never be a nurse!
I'd love to thank you 4 all the great quality vids but also thumbs up to all the fans for their interesting reactions. When I'm in need of a chill moment and I start to roam TH-cam, each and every time the positive interaction on this channel between the artist, which you definitely are, and his fans just makes me feel good.👍👍👍 Oh and yes I'd love to be a wizard too lol😀
Awesome video. Excellent choice for the character in the video. She deserves so much love. She's almost forgotten about. Yes, I could see her as a gryfindor or a ravenclaw or a Hufflepuff. You did such a fantastic job. I love your videos. They are so fascinating and so magical and your passion is clearly shown. 😍💖💜👑. Well done. You bring into the light the forgotten characters and I love it. 💜 I am so glad your channel was not removed. 😍
Yes, Madam Pomfrey was as important to the school as the teachers! Her dilligent care & devotion to the kids & staff reflects real life medical professionals, who we tend to take for granted until we need them. ❤👩⚕️

"You should have been brought straight to me. I can mend bones in a heartbeat but growing them back." Hermione: You will be able to won't you? "Oh I'll be able to certainly. But it'll be painful. You're in for a rough night Potter. Regrowing bones is a nasty business." Harry drinks the Skele Gro and spits it out. "Well what did you expect? Pumpkin juice?"
Skelegrow. Think about it. A potion that re-grows bones. Just how often does an injury completely remove a bone as opposed to breaking the bone? Broken bones I can fix in an instant, but re-growing them takes some time. A commercial potion (we see a bottle in one of the stores on Diagon Alley...) FOR RE-GROWING BONES. Do too many people try to repair breaks on their own and fail like Lockheart? I love this series! Thank you for this lovely lady's story.
There has been speculation going round as to whether any students tried to cast the Engorgio charm on certain anatomical parts and if so how they managed to explain it to her, but I suspect the chances are she'd just shrug it off as she'd have been used to students coming to her with all sorts of ailments!
Hi Dean! Love your videos, very interesting, awesome content, love hearing all the background stories, and all the theories. So I was wondering how would a person with Dissassociative Identity Disorder would be sorted into a house if their personalities fit multiple houses? That would be a pretty cool video! I was doing some painting, and listening to these videos, they are a nice way to make my job go faster! Thanks!
Poppy. The true unsung hero of Hogwarts. She is one of my favorite characters. Definitely my top 10. Maybe my top 5, but I haven't really figured that part out yet.
Same, yes she was obviously intelligent and highly qualified, but she had the compassion and understanding of all kinds of unfortunate illnesses, without being judgemental. I believe she was Hufflepuff, personally ♡
I'm sure they love the publicity in getting their info from the extended Wizarding World Universe put into the public so people that aren't into pottermore enough to use the website or dont know about it still get to see it in some form or another.
I think Pomfrey being in Ravenclaw makes the most sense. She's intelligent and skilled, very no-nonesense. It also makes sense breaking up know professors in different houses. (Minerva and Dumbledore in Griffindore, Slughorn and Snape in Slytherin, Sprout in Hufflepuff, and Flitwick in Ravenclaw) we don't know many Hufflepuff professors but they are woefully under represented in general. Other than Hufflepuff (and all the Griffindores, but let's ignore that) there's two main professors in all the Houses that aren't over/under represented.
Ravenclaw may be a good pick for her, since I assume medicine with magic requires a similar amount of academic dedication as medicine without it. However, to me a loyal and sensible caretaker like her belongs to hufflepuff.
You forgot that not only didnt she ask too many questions, she helped Hermione to avoid the shame of being seen as polyjuiced cat and hid her with a curtain from other patients
I would see her as a Hufflepuff as she stated during Umbridge’s tyrannical reign that she would resign if it hadn’t been out of safety concerns for the students. Also being a healer must have in-depth knowledge of herbology something that Hufflepuffs’ excel at.
Harry fell over fifty feet? Looked more like several hundred feet to me in the movies and how I remember it in the book. Heck, the tallest Quidditch goal is 50 feet above the pitch and Wood fell from that height in Harry's first game, when wood was knocked off his broom by a bludger. BTW I was wondering is there anything to prevent the snitch from flying off in one direction for hundreds or thousands of miles? Or flying straight up into space? Are snitches magically programmed to remain a certain distance from the pitch and go no farther?
I believe that Poppy was either a Ravenclaw or a Hufflepuff. Reason for Ravenclaw: Poppy was an intelligent witch who would have been required to have very excellent grades in Defense Against The Dark Arts, Herbology, Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, and possibly Ancient Runes and Care of Magical Creatures. This would speak highly of, not only her intelligence, but also her dedication to her many studies. Reason for Hufflepuff: Poppy was highly dedicated to Hogwarts and its student body. She refused to abandon the students during Umbridge's reign of terror because she knew that they needed her at this time more than ever despite knowing that Umbridge would soon be systematically removing any and all professors that she had deemed to be too close to Dumbledore from the grounds of Hogwarts. With this in mind, I could see Poppy being a solid fit for either Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. While Poppy was indeed brave enough to stay at Hogwarts during the battle, I feel that her loyalty and intelligence were more prominent than her courage and she also seemed to value those traits in a similar manner. If I had to pick one house, I'd say Ravenclaw as Poppy would need extreme dedication to learning in order to become a trained nurse.
Know what little we knew about her character, I felt she embodied the qualities of Hufflepuff, but yet had the sheer genius of Ravenclaw. So I can not for sure say she was with one while having the heart and loyalty of another. Either way, she was an asset to her house.
