It is interesting to see all the pallets being destroyed in your area. In other area, scrappers travel around picking up used pallets and taking them to places that refurbish and sell them to manufacturers producing new products.

I use to manage the landscape department of a 1500 acre resort in Missouri in the late 90's that was owned by Bass Pro Shops. I would purchase those semi truck loads of mulch. It was really great to see how it all starts! We use to compost and recycle everything from the gardens and the restaurants too. I use to go out in the woods and turn it. For me that was so fun to get away from everything, hop on the machine and get in the zone! It was my quiet time!😂 Thanks for sharing this and allowing me to remember a great memory! You are doing a great job, keep it going!!

Otherwise sooner than later we will run out of places to bury it. This is one area that I think should be well supported by the city state and federal government instead of making it difficult. This is what I was hoping you would do, especially for all us newbies, show us all your different divisions and what all you make. For me, i would love to see a video of each product ( potting soil for example) from start to finish, the more detailed the better but, might not be interesting to some so I know you gotta do what the masses want.
Considering all the equipment you have, have you looked into making shredded tire mulch which some call it permanent mulch but no idea how long it actually lasts.
Would think a handheld wand type metal detector might help locate pieces if metal faster than kicking it around with your feet, but maybe it would pick up the conveyor parts and surrounding metal parts too much than locate the culprit metal, am sure you tried them and didnt work for some reasons.
I actually watch big wood grinder videos on YT just to see them destroy trees to mulch ,,,,,, and big metal shredders grinding up cars, etc.,,,,,, yep, I'm that wierd.

With the video I just watched, when the camera is turned away from you the audio quality decreases dramatically. With the external audio pickup the audio comes thru in a consistent level. Just an idea if you haven't already incorporated it into your videos. Thanks for your informative and fun videos!

Looking at the mulch side, especially the initial breakdown of the product. Reminds me of the "mulch" that my local school system would put out on playgrounds and parks. it wasn't mulch as much as it was stuff that probably was mixed with stuff that had been run through a tub grinder that had some really worn hammers and anvils. Like some chunks would be about four to six inches diameter and maybe like ten to fourteen inches long. All mixed with micro chips, actual 2" to 4" chips of mixed wood, leaves, pine straw, pine cones. Basically all the stuff that the city and county would pick up as green waste would be crunched up mixed and spread out.
Stuff was horrible. Landfill wouldn't take it because it was a burn hazard, it was too bulky for hog fuel on top of no plants nearby that could burn it. It was finally dumped on a field where the field owner had to pay for a good grand under to come out and turn it all into reasonable stuff which they then sold by the tandem axle load as organic booster for clay fields.
Dump out thirty or so loads, turn plow and disc it in. Add more and repeat, mix in sand and then fifteen or so loads of compost. Suddenly a cheap clay field in a year is highly productive grow field. Many thought it was basically magic that last bit.

100% Proper operation Mr Big Dig , I like your cousins cut offs seems like that’d be the least problematic and a pleasure to break down .
I’ve seen those big tub grinders on const sites launch chunks of wood out 60’ or so and like you say it’s a violent operation beside one of those machines !
Also glad you showed the winrows we had 30 head of horses and I’d clean up and put everything in rows that stuff looked like is was on fire out there smoking on a cool morning breaking down , my lady said she wanted to bag it and sell it for black dirt potting soil , I guess it’d be one way to recover money spent on these dang horses hahah .
Anyways sure glad LD18 and DP got to check out your most impressive operation and I found your channel , I kinda live vicariously watching these vids cause I love all that equipment and hard ass work but on disability from a bad ticker , they put a pace maker / defrribulator in my chest so there’s no way to go around those big ass magnets on those machines plus no welding so I’m reduced to just pushing around dirt on the Takeuchi taking aggressions and stress out hahaha I love it .
    KEEP ROLLIN MR DIG

I use to love doing mulch making as a side job from my regular construction job; until the mulching company I worked for decided to get the bandit mulchers then it became a tedious process with more downtime than production time because the belt or grinder always had something wrong with it.
I don't know about now days how the bandits hold up to other mulchers but I can imagine they're still a pain in everyone's ass as I see more and more companies moving away from bandits.

what an absolutely brilliant setup, the video was so interesting it captured 100% attention. It`s unthinkable what time, effort and different processes it takes to make something that we take for granted, when we go to the garden center buy a bag of compost or whatever, stick it in a pot with a plant and watch the plant grow. .. I was going to make a flippant remark and say how `mulch` I enjoyed watching, but I don`t think I`d better.

Check around with the poultry companies in the area and see if they produce waste water sludge. It's also a great source of nitrogen. Works great as a fertilizer and may be something you could incorporate into your compost.

Do you get to charge a tipping fee when people dump there wood waste? Concrete waste?

Not sure how many employees you have across all of your businesses but I’m impressed you know every name. Also I don’t see micro managing. It’s nice for managers to let workers do their job. Mistakes will be made but it adds to the experience and knowledge.
