    I've really been digging the rhythm to use with modular for sketching out ideas. I totally agree with you about how fast the workflow is. Super fun little box.
    The two things I'm hoping for in a future firmware update would be:
    1) the ability to not have the knob controls manipulate all of the samples on an individual track. If they could only adjust one it would be pitch for me.
    2) the ability to export with separation (both midi & audio to use later and adjust in DAW).
    That would make this device top notch in my book.

    This was very awesome! I've fallen in love with the circuit's randomization and chance settings. Awesome seeing someone else jam with it, I think it's very cool. That modular is no slouch though, humongous sound coming from this pair!

    I promised myself that if I manage to learn Octatrack at least in 60% and complete the next #jamuary, I will start a mini rack you designed for me ‼️🤖💦

    Dude the workflow on the Circuits is insanely fast and easy. After I got the OG Circuit it quickly became one of my most used pieces of gear. To put it in context half of my tracks are composed on my Tracks and the other half are composed on my guitar. I've owned a Circuit for about three years and I've been playing guitar for 14 years.
    I also love that the Tracks has audio in so I can essentially have 4 synth tracks without using a mixer.

    • @JayHosking
      @JayHosking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the mixer-in-a-box feature of the Circuit Tracks is huge.

      @@JayHosking I just wish they added the distortion engine from the sample tracks to the effects menu. It would sound so good on basses.

    I have the Circuit Tracks, Yamaha CP, Roland S-1 and was thinking about the Circuit Tracks for samples/D&B breaks, but would you recommend the Digitakt overall instead? I love the Tracks workflow, but people around me keep recommending the Digitakt…

    • @JayHosking
      @JayHosking  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Digitakt will definitely give you more tracks to work with, and the Digitakt II gives you stereo samples. But depending on how you want to perform the drums, I would personally consider the Polyend Tracker+ or Tracker Mini or Octatrack for this job, since I like to add a lot of variety to static drum sequences. But I'd always recommend trying the gear you have first and seeing what you're missing, as that will give you an idea of what you need to complete the music in your head.

    So confused about how you get an expected result for the bassline on the Manis from a clocked/quantized square wave on pam's. Like it's giving you expected results (I think a I - IV - V?) at expected intervals. Maybe I just need to spend more time with the built in pam's quantizer?

    • @JayHosking
      @JayHosking  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In the "verse", there are basically only two or three notes. I have a square wave alternating between two values, and it's quantized to the minor scale. Manis is set to the key of the song. I have gate for the Manis coming from another output of Pam's, giving a quarter note. So I have Manis alternating between two notes in the scale of the song, with a slight turn of the Pam's knob to add in one more note for colour (as at 1:04, for example). Hope that helps!

    • @atomboyd
      @atomboyd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JayHosking This makes sense. I was completely forgetting about the "base"/root note and was still only ever accounting for 2 notes in the square's travel. It makes more sense knowing you hand rolled to get that third tone in there. Thanks as ever for the detailed and concise explanation! Class act!

    You may have just convinced me to buy a circuit Rhythm. I had the original Circuit for awhile, but sold it. I have a Circuit Mono Bass lat I love, but I usually use an Arturia BSP with my Eurorack stuff. Have you used the BSP? If I have that, do you think the Circuit Rhythm is worth the small price?

    • @JayHosking
      @JayHosking  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have used the BSP but it wasn't for me. The Circuit Rhythm is just a smart solution for making drums quickly, and in a way that can be easily synched to eurorack; however, the Circuit Rhythm can't be easily used to sequence eurorack stuff, if that's what you mean. Best of luck!

      @@JayHosking I wondered because it seems your studio gear is almost boundless. I don't know how you can do what you do with that much different gear. Since each one may share similarities but also differ in implementation and feel/technique.

      @JayHosking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StephanieSante A lot of things come and go, so there's not as much as it might seem. But yes, the different workflows and implementation are inspiring and cause me to write different sorts of music, which I appreciate. Hopefully it all still sounds like "my" music, though.

      @StephanieSante 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JayHosking Yes it definitely sounds like you. That's what I enjoy about your tracks. Different gear definitely sparks new ideas but when you can guide it rather that it guiding you is really where the artist shines.
