    You should redemo this amp since your audio/video quality is so much better now

    I've had my eye on this amp for quite some time. When you mentioned this vid on your show last week, I was happy to check out your take on it. Thanks!

    Every review I've seen makes the amp sound a bit muddy (not necessarily bad). Does it brighten up well? I am looking for a pedal platform. I know that the regular Hot Rod can be altered with tubes and speakers etc., but if they are very close I'd like to know if the deciding will come down to esthetics and weight. Cheers! I am not experienced with playing around with bias and not likely to start any time soon!

    My local music Store has one of these and it is my favorite amp to plug into. I own the Michael Landau amp and I am seriously considering trading up.

    for a jazz amp, i would have preferred hearing more details on clear sounds and potentially a demo with an archtop.

    Interesting. The distortion channel can get that gainy. Hmm. Will have to be on my list of amps to get

    Could this amp be used as a Pedal Platform due to its high headroom?

    Great demo, tks for posting. I have a reg HRD iii, looking to get a rounder warmer sound.. so only 1 pre-amp tube a 12AT7 or all of them AT7 's? Can I just swap out these w.out changing the power tubes ?

    I bought the Blues Jr for $600.00, but took it back, because the clean volume was only at a (3) volume, and not totally clean based on pick attack, and not friendly to strumming cords. I liked the amp, per it was small and light. You mentioned changing out a $10.00 preamp 12AT7 tube. Will that work in the Blues Jr.?

    Blues Jr has: 3 x 12AX7 and 2 x EL84 George Benson: 2 x 12AXT and 1 x 12AT7 and 2 x 6L6In the Blues Jr., besides swapping one 12AX7 for a 12AT7 ... what about swapping the EL84 for 6L6Would this work for a Blues Jr: 2 x 12AX7 and 1 x 12AT7 and 2 x 6L6

    • @codybaggett9741
      @codybaggett9741 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mailvilla
      No, no, no, no. The power amp is different from the pre-amp. EL84's and 6L6's aren't interchangeable without modding the amplifier. If you did this it is possible that you would fry your amp.

  • @commodoor646

    Why would you use a Strat to demo? And why would distortion be relevant to a GB model.

    • @cypressdobro8759
      @cypressdobro8759 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      distortion is part of a valve amp.

      Because not everyone that buys a GB amp is GB and plays Jazz...

    • @SxDx1986

      Better question yet,why is george Benson's namesake on a hot rod series amp when he's a jazzman?I like the look of it though and it's acceptable for what it is(at the same time I'll stick to a trusty old classic 30 or 50)

    • @1Ma9iN8tive
      @1Ma9iN8tive 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      SxDx1986 George benson played through Fender amps in his early days AND he employed some (a touch) gain in some of his work (he once played a concert in Russia and the fender amp had the gain channel engaged through an entire song before he could turn it off -and he loved it - so when he came to design his amp he wanted Gain available because he understood its value.

    That black gretsch in the wall should suit the review way better. Benson plays semis with humbuckers.

    I like Phillip's old vids better. Back when he had less followers he could and prided himself on answering every superchat question. After hearing him laugh that he just couldn't now (so many questions/people watching live events) he kinda fell off the pedestal i had him on. Still good channel to learn from though

  • @edwinmcastro

    Can this amp be used on blues?

    • @KonradWadenhauer
      @KonradWadenhauer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you get the "breakup" without cranking it up? Drive channel might be too much.. a pedal? I am currently trying to decide between a HRDlx III and the GB Model..
