It's odd how games start copying one another and all become the same before a new one does something different and the cycle restarts. After Rainbow Six, a lot of FPS games copied it by trying to be more tactical and making movement throw off the players aim (not just other Tom Clancy games). After Halo, every game switched to only allowing two weapons (although Rainbow Six did this first, other didn't copy it until Halo). Then After Call of Duty 4, EVERY GAME added aiming down sights. Those are just the things that immediately come to mind.

Really? I know it can be challenging to complete the mission whilst keeping everyone on your squad alive (especially on elite) but I've done this many times. Sometimes the fact that you can create your own checkpoint helps. :)

I used to play this game on my first laptop during my TAFE years sometime around 2004, it was one of my first PC FPS games along with Quake 3 Arena, I was playing my GameCube before I got into PC gaming.
Sure Operation Flashpoint and Arma blew these games out of the water back then (And still do), but Ghost Recon had something special that made it so much fun.
Arma/Flashpoint's squad command system always frustrated me, especially in combat. In Ghost Recon, the command system is simple enough to use quickly, but has enough options to give the control needed. Ghost Recon has the tension and action to make it fun, but the strategy to give you the control and freedom to enhance that fun.
Casper DaGhost For the AI in Arma/Flashpoint, I agree fully. But Arma and Flashpoint are meant to be Multiplayer Strat games. And I agree on your point about the usefull command system in Ghost Recon. Man, every time on on this thread I just want to go and play GR again xD
TheVanezi I do either ;-) I dun really know why but maybe 1 of the reasons is the simplicity of these games. They dun really deliberately tell u what and how to do. Instead, they just only make the frame and leave all the details to the players. Arma 3 still can captivate me but as for ghost recon, i only prefer the original ghost recon :0)

nano keithovich, the ending cinematic was not about the 'americans' defeating the 'russians' in Moscow. It was about US forces and regular Russian forces fighting together against the radical alter-nationalists and defeating THEM in Moscow. :)
This music made you feel like you were literally the tip of the fucking spear, that you were about to lead a badass team of men and women in battle and you didn’t know how many of yahs were comin back if any at all. God I wish we could get another classic Ghost Recon game
Ah good ol' Ghost Recon! I loved the shit out of this game! I remember as a kid I would boot up the Igor application and build my own missions with their own storylines and objectives. Such a good time.
When I saw this level of perfection, the cool music, excellent gaming and an awsome plot, I totally understanded the double rainbow guy. That level of perfection that touch you so deep that makes you cry, tom Clancy and Ubisoft reached that level :)

when i was about 12 years old this was my first fps i have ever played that i liked. wolfenstein i played first of all but this one hooked onto me. i just loved the theme of it and the snow and cold weather maps instead of all this desert bullshit. It was just me and my friend and his older bro and we played this game all the time and did all the missions over and over again. the bigger maps offered different ways of victory. this was the true open world scenario that felt epic imo. later at around 2008 when this game took place in i invited my friend over to play it and we played it for about 5 hours strait. years later today i was cleaning and found an old Netflix disk cover holder back when you would order movie disks for a week and than return them. it had a small disk in it and i opened it and i found the old ghost recon disk. the one that i my friends had bought from gamestop years ago and shapied out the age rating so our parents cant see the rating and stop us. all the old memories of gaming with people and having fun with people instead of working for a killstreak. i loaded that disk into my Wii and played it. still good after all these years.

Yea its reason i was drawn 2 it splinter cell is a little like it but u gain health and also it would be like real war i remember those times when i had like one man and i was scared to lose him and i would try to run to the extraction point and sometimes id win sometimes id get shot down by a person i didnt even see overall one of the best FPS ever also the victory song that plays when you win a mission i would like to use that as my graduation theme for my school hopefully my principal excepts

playing this on the ps2 with no HD no cheat codes, just a straight up military shooter/strategy and a damn good one at that
Took me several months to beat. Loved every minute. Even my dad stayed up all night twice in a row to play it.

this game was my favorite game. my cousin owned it, so the only way i played it was i would go over there we would play it all the time
