I like this one a lot because it kinda makes you reflect on how shitty Sam's situation and life is, especially if you've played all the games before DA. Chaos Theory is still the best game soundtrack ever though.
***** Blacklist doesn't have the same feel and gameplay as the first 4 Splinter Cell games did. Conviction and Blacklist are both good games but do not retain the original feel of the first 4.
My biggest thing is movement of Sam. He's between 30 and 40. He shouldn't be able to traverse a ledge like an 18 year old ninja. Old Splinter Cell games were all about slow progression instead of slaughtering everyone.
***** Yep he said what I was thinking. It used to be slow paced and confronting an enemy was hard and would often end up with you having to load a save from death. If you played Conviction and Blacklist you will see that its more focused on fast paced action combat rather than stealth as its primary. Sure you are able to do full stealth runs etc, but the original games required you to be stealthy for the most part and only use guns as a last resort.
renovatio1011 i think I'm gonna plug in the old phat ps3 and play it again aswell. even tho this game runs like absolute garbage on the ps3 but still... double agent has this incredible atmosphere that almost no other game has. a game that comes to mind with a similar timeless 'vibe' Is half life 2. two completely different games but both always warms my heart when I think about them. it's pretty cool that videogames can bring such emotions to a human being haha. anyway I'm just rambling on at this point. good night :)

Started listening to Michael McCann again recently for some inspiration into my music productions and to go back to my roots, as Michael was the reason he got me into music production thanks to this game, and the Deus Ex series. I hadn't heard this soundtrack for many years though, and wow, the bittersweet memories. These quarantine times are great for going back and reliving your youth a bit when it comes to gaming.
It may not be the best game ever made but i had really unique ideas and that's why i'll always remember it. This was one of these games where I thought next gen was going to take a step in a new direction and have more depth than the PS2 era. It's 2015 now and I feel like games are worse than ever, everyone is playing it safe with sparse plots, flat characters and linear gameplay.
***** well its different from most games but i found it really fun. its turn based combat but it creates a lot of tention in the scenarios because if someone in your squad dies you can't get them back again.
***** it's a lot different, there are no rpg elements to the game and it isn't an adventure game. it's like invisible inc or massive chalice, you just start a mission and have to clear the area of aliens or perform some other objective.
***** it isn't a shooter. you always have a chance at missing your target when you choose to attack them. it would be better if you watched a video of it because i'm not great at explaining it.
The game was the one where you could sense that the whole SC series started to get slightly off track but it was still true to the first and second title. Like an upgrade but still the same yet you knew that it won't be the same after this one anymore. And there is probably no turning back.
I have actually liked all of the Splinter Cell games. However, if I were to rank them I would have to say: DA(PS2) > BL > C > CT > SC > PT Since I played Double Agent first I'm a little biased towards it. The rest of my ranking is based on what had the best story and co-op.
Coming back to this in 2021, after years of forgetting about it (and being extremely disappointed in Ubi for shoving Fisher into all sorts of stupid DLC instead of making a new game). Of course this is Michael McCann... I don't know how I didn't realize he did this soundtrack after hearing the music from the new Deus Ex. Great work.
Hands down probably the best soundtrack for any game ever. The only one it compares to is Hitman Blood Money, they were both executed perfectly, but I think this has definitely one, this composer is talented as hell.

Actually my favorite in the franchaise
deus ex - human revolution ,diablo 2 and this one omg
@AntonioPerez, imo, it is the best splinter cell game. Comes second in my list with the first one first.
You can hear a lot of the themes used in making the Deus Ex tracks even just from the iceland extraction theme.
I didn't play the game, but the soundtrack is awesome!
My fav SC game

i will always admire scda & ct for their amazing soundtracks. i love them just as much as i loved the themes of multiple megaman games and those of the metroid prime trilogy, and i guess other m had a some good themes too (don't come here and flame me die hard metroid fans, other m wasn't great but it was good enough to be liked somewhat. i too am a die hard fan, fyi)
Hmm this sounds so familar5:26 yep its sound 14 years after e day gears of war
Really reminds me of Deus Ex: HR which makes sense if it was mostly or all by McCann.
