Yea teddy doesnt ever talk about holyfield using his skull as a battering ram in which he intentionally landed almost as many headbutts as punches on mike. Mike bit him because he was getting butted and nobody was doing shit about it. Holyfield deserved it.

All is opinions are based off him. at 15 at most. When I was 15 I wasn’t as mentally strong or confident. How you can label someone anything when you last knew them at 15 is pretty lame.

Camcolito is right. Here in western civilization we have created a society whereby entertainers are considered the creme de la creme of the social hierarchy. Not just the entertainers themselves but the periphery players as well. There was a time even not long ago a guy like the lead singer of Blues Traveler could bank on his talent. Today the odds are so insanely against a person of that look it is almost always guaranteed to end in misery. Today entertainers are "company assets" before they are human beings. You gotta be in your 20s. Gorgeous and devoid of opinions and personality. Jim Grey and his idol, Howard Cosell, would both have tough going especially Howard with his look and thick North Eastern US accent. In America they raise the kids on fantasies of "you can be anything you want" but that's very dangerous stuff. They say that and fail to mention the millions who dont make it and the enormous financial sacrifices and heartbreak these millions suffer. Now Jim is saying basically the opposite, that whenever Mike's back was against the wall "he always answered the questions." While it just goes to show the complexity of human beings and the different opinions and perspectives of/on the same one man by two different people (Teddy and Jim) it is nevertheless interesting because they are conflicting viewpoints. I guess neither one could be fully correct but it would have been interesting if Teddy would have argued his point of view

I feel like young Mike wasn't given the proper tools to handle adversity, or rather his mentor, whom he relied on for everything, wasn't around to help Mike through the challenges that one faces when they reach a certain level of fame. Who could Mike trust once Cus was gone? Once the grifters like Don King moved in Mike had no chance. I think Tyson should be given a lot of credit for being humble and working through his issues to be the person he has become. I feel like writing him off because he didn't have the proper tools to be able to fight all the adversity when he was younger is a bit unfair.

What is really unfortunate in my opinion and I'm basing this on Mike Tysons own words from interviews and also a book I read called Iron Mike I believe and it involved his former bodyguard or chauffer as one of the main storytellers but the unfortunate thing I'm talking about is that Don King got ahold of Mike at that time that you both are speaking of when Cus had just passed away. Cus was not the only person involved in looking after Mike. I dont mean to insult either of you by presuming you dont know these things I'm about to say, I'm just stating them for anyone reading this who may not know is all, but Mike's handling was also tended to by Cus' close confidants and long time boxing men Bill Cayton and Jim Jacobs. In particular Jacob's is known for his massive collection of boxing videos perhaps the most prestigious and one of the largest boxing libraries in the world. Unfortunately we don't know the facts but it is certain that in the immediate aftermath of Cus' death these two men were the primary caretakers of Mike Tyson. They failed miserably. Whose fault is what and what who did to whom we cant say for sure but Mike alleges that Jacob's abused him financially and made him sign really poor contracts specifically one whereby the devices were in place that enabled Robin Givens, Mike's first wife, to take more than half of Mike Tysons assets in their divorce. Many allegations have been made about the conduct of Bill Cayton and Jim Jacobs. What we can say for sure is they weren't in charge of Mike for too long and Don King stepped in swiftly. What part of the story is true or what part was Don King manipulating the INSANELY HIGHLY VULNERABLE young Mike who knows? What we do know is, for what it's worth, Cus did trust those men. But people betray the wishes of the dead in far closer relationships than friendship, so who knows? It's a shame because I personally believe that Don King destroyed Mike Tyson. That being said Mike was also legally an adult and a man, the world heavyweight champion in fact. But had a person who really had Mike's best interest at heart at that vital time right after Cus died, someone who could have "out politicked" Don King when King made his move and someone who would have really saw after Mike I think the story of his career but more importantly his life, would have played out far differently. In boxing old school trainers teach fighters "if a guy hits you low, hit him back low. If he pushes, push him back". Its the art of war, and its the psychological part of fighting where you cant allow a guy to feel like they can do something dirty and you wont retaliate in kind. My trainer drilled it into my head so as to not give away an edge mentally to your opponent. You get butted, butt back or hit low etc but never look to the ref to save you and never complain. Just make sure you take it into your own hands cause at the end of the day the only one you can count on to save you in a 1 on 1 fight is yourself period.

Yea keep avoiding the holyfield battering ram headbutts vs tyson and many others.
