It was the right call to address that road. Hopefully next time around you will be able to source better gravel. But the road is already better as it used to be. And the water that is going to be directed to the pastures will sure help the aerobic micro organisms to improve the growth of the grass. 👍
I’m going to do a full cost breakdown of the road repair once it’s complete and that roadbase is much much cheaper than the alternatives so I will put up with it for now.
Despite the issues with the material I feel the investment will bring its rewards. Putting the contour orientated ‘culverts’ in should turn what could be an ongoing worsening issue into an asset. Have watched presentations where big landscape scale initiatives have incorporated roads into their water capture and retention plans. Once again thanks for a really enjoyable production!
Not much you can do about the wet rock. Mother Nature does her thing, and we have to finagle our ways around it. Still, it looks good and I'll bet the next rain will show good results.
At the end of the contour, run off,,, leading water away from the road, nice place for a dam, swale or something watery,,,, just dumping the water in the paddock is not the full job
Gday Adam, There is more to this solution which I will show via a drone on the next instalment. Beyond the end of the contour are a series of other contours that are largely at right angles. These inturn hold / slow / direct the water to the dam and across a large area of paddock.

Taking the high road. Well done
lol. Yes, that’s the plan.

Thanks Rob. The contours and road worked overnight. I’ve got some video I’ll make into a video that shows how it all went. Thanks for watching.
@@queenslandfarmer good stuff!

Yes it does. Less than 24 hours after the last video we got the rain. Will release a video that shows the results this week. 👍

Great stuff, look forward to seeing it
