Hi, I'm a brand new viewer. I've been looking at greening-the-desert videos, now youtube wants me to see your dam! Love seeing how happy you are with how your water management is going.
Welcome to the channel! Glad youtube recommended the Chanel to you and yes, I’m pretty happy with the progress of that dam. We had some major issues with it when we first bought the place and if you get a chance, check out “.we almost lost the dam” video (th-cam.com/video/N7BrEIUh5hg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=x4qIOP6IfzTBwgnn) to see the significant contrast of not managing water
Good to see all that water and that the work that has been done is doing its job. Hopefully it will translate in a productive year. Here in the Netherlands we had the first mild night frost of the year, which was pretty early in the year compared to the historical data. But now the temperatures are slightly going up again. Thanks for the update 👍
The mid north coastal areas of NSW seemed to have never ending rain from May 2020 to earlier this year. Thankfully it is drier now than it has been for almost five years. Rain after a dry spell is a blessing as it was in 2020. The rain became a curse in 2021.
@@kdegraa yes, NSW and QLD really got a lot of rain for a long time. My friend used to say, “you can make money from mud but not from dust”. I completely agree with them.
Good to see your comments again Rob. Yes, I was really pleased with the outcome. It can always be tricky working on slopes but it seems it’s worked out ok. I haven’t had a lot of seed germinate in that area yet but I’m hopeful that will occur over time.
Sorry if youve mentioned it before, how are you guys handling the lantana? With the increase in wet season a bit north of you, weve got creeping lantana too now ☹️
I leave lantana in high erosion risk areas however when I want to get rid of it, I typically manually remove when the ground dries up a bit. I have tried cutting and running through the chipper but it cuts your skin pretty bad. If they are too big to remove by pulling by hand, I use the ATV. Would you like to see a demo on a video?
Thanks for the feedback, It was a hard day of filming to be honest. Lots of wind and rain and I didn’t realise how bad the audio was until I was composing the video given I didn’t want my mike to get soaked like I was. I tried to hide some of the wind noise with music and it worked in places. Would you prefer I turn on sub titles in the future if that situation happens again?
Gotta love the sound of your boots sloshing around in the water. Great job. Nature knows best!
You got that right!
I didnt realise how loud it was until I was putting the video together. I dont get sick of rain like that ;-)
Gotta love the rain mate. Another great video. Thanks for sharing. 🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it.
Rain is a bit hit and miss at times :-)

@@queenslandfarmer Will check it out! Thank you!
The sound of flowing water is so satisfying. A few more rock dam projects and you will have mini ponds capturing more water. Thanks for the upload.
@@brianvittachi6869 thanks Brian. I agree with you, many more projects to do and share with you all.
You have had a nice bit of rain there. We are hoping for a nice fall of rain over the next few days. Fingers crossed.
@@honeybacres good luck with the 🌧️
@@queenslandfarmer thanks
Beautiful rain
So nice to see. Like I said in the video, it can always be drier (especially in Australia).

I am in the Wide Bay Area. Are you referring to the big rain in early August? Have not had anything since.
@@menoname3594 I am indeed. Have been so flat out on the farm and elsewhere I’m catching up on videos. Thanks for watching.
Lots of water in a short period of time. Am pleased the track adjustments both held up and performed as planned. Good stuff. Rob

@@queenslandfarmer fingers crossed. You had a lot of water moving over your land. Look forward to the next up date. Rob.

@queenslandfarmer The shrubs aren't an issue, it's the new purple vining one. Pull one bit out and still have hundreds of nodes that will sprout :(
we only got 12 ml at Tabulam
Hope you get more rain soon Bernie.
I can’t hear you when you have that music loud.
