yes, all you said is correct but, some of the symptoms you listed are also symptoms of overwatering e.g. yellowing of the lower leaves. I know this is just of the internet but for me, the hardest part is knowing which is which. Some symptoms of over-fertilising e.g. discolouration of leaves can be mistaken for under fertilising. it's a minefield as you can not ever truly know sometimes. the best course of action is to wait it out. the plant can fix itself given time. so patients are key.
Hi Ollie. You are correct. Sometimes plants can even show signs of over and under watering at the same time, but in different areas of the plant. Keep an eye on your plants, monitor their growth weekly, and seek out helpful online plant communities to share photos and ask questions for more support. Happy Growing!
Great question, you will see signs within the soil itself of over fertilization. If you see a crust buildup or other residue that should not be within the soil, that can be a sign of over fertilization. If that is the case, this is a good post to review: houseplantresourcecenter.com/2020/10/how-to-reverse-over-fertilization-in-houseplants/
Hi Ethan! Yes, any of our fertilizers are safe to be used in addition to our Root Supplement. Follow the directs on the bottle and add to your regular watering routine.
Gently flush the soil by watering thoroughly to wash out excess fertilizer salts. Allow the water to drain completely. Repeat this process several times over the next few days. Is slow release fertilizer used over a six month period safe to use with liquid plant food as well as root supplement which I use around every two weeks
I caution against using our Indoor Plant Food in conjunction with another fertilizer. Our plant food is best used on virgin soil that does not have any slow-release fertilizer incorporated. Our root supplement is safe to be used on soil that has fertilizer in it. Happy Growing!
Remove any visible signs of fertilizer on the soil and leach the fertilizer out of the soil with a nice, long watering. Let the water run out of the drainage holes and empty the trays immediately. You may need to do this 3-4 times to get the fertilizer out of the root system. Leave the plant be and don't reintroduce any fertilizer for at least a month or so. Hi. I have watered my olive tree bonsai with my homemade seaweed fertilizer i have made from molasses and seaweed. Growth came out but these new growth had brown leaves. Could this be fertilizer burn? Is there a way on how I could reverse it? Thanks a lot.
Keep an eye on the leaves and watch if more growth develops the brown leaves. If it is overall discoloration, it may be more than just the fertilizer. I suggest posting a picture within our Bonsai Community on Facebook for more support. Good luck! facebook.com/groups/bonsairesourcecenter
Hi, thank you very much for your advice. It was actually a bonsai Olive tree which roots I pruned as the pot was already full of roots. I root pruned it and repotted it again.
Thank you for your information. What if i over feed liquid fish fertilizer 😅 i may use too strong amount of it and water over the leaves and foliages on my Roses. Now their leaves turn half brown and some foliages look burn and dry. Please advice how to rescue them🙏🏻Thank you
@@houseplantresourcecenter thank you 🙏🏻 someone suggested to repot the roses but there are 4 pot 20gallons each to repot 🤪😅 so i just keep watering them down hehe and strip off the burning leaves 🍁
My tree has been over fertilized and it is planted in the ground. I'm nervous about over watering to weaken the fertilizer because there is no place for the water to go. Trees don't like sitting in water. The tree is a fica(Indian laurel). Please help
Hi AC, let's help you get your lemon tree back to health! Remove as much as the fertilizer as you can then leach the fertilizer out of the soil with a nice, long watering. Let the water run out of the drainage holes and empty the trays immediately. You might want to do this three or four times, because this will take the fertilizer out of the roots. After leaching, don’t fertilize the plant for at least a month. This post with video can help. houseplantresourcecenter.com/2019/04/7-signs-youre-over-fertilizing-your-houseplant-how-to-fix-it/
If you feel you are not able to properly remove the 8 cups of fertilizer then yes, I would replace the soil. Best to use a virgin soil then use a liquid fertilizer to ensure the plant is getting a steady does of nutrients vs. one big amount that slowly declines over time.
I'm sorry to hear that! Best to start with a virgin potting soil then add in the fertilizers, multivitamins, and supplements when you water. Good luck!

Most of the signs suggested here are just like the overwatering. Could you please give some tips on how to differentiate the two?
