      👌 sorry it took so long, my computer was (/is) on the blink and footage was stuck in the camera with no way to edit and upload. Hope you’re well!

      Thanks Ian, yes I'm a big fan of Wales generally but particularly those middle bits. It's wonderful country!

      Funny thing is, those long rides totally DO take it out of me. Nutrition + rest are crucial but it’s amazing what you can get away with in the very short term (72 hrs??) as long as you keep your heart rate/power output down. Thanks for watching!

    As someone who upped sticks from London to the edge of the world it is great to see you on my home roads, brutal as they are. The best of luck all the way to the end of PBP. Stay strong and positive.

      Thanks Nick, 'brutal' is about right! If you can ride in Wales you can ride anywhere.

    I'm a bit late catching this, already delayed, post so I'm delighted to still be in time to wish you every success on the PBB this year! I've just started Audax so these posts are meat and drink to me. Selfishly, I'd love to see more of the logistical side (specific kit and gizmos, checkpoints etc.) although i appreciate that you're principally there to ride. Looking forward to your reflections on PBB😊👍.

      Hey thanks for watching Rob. Yes, next vid up should be the PBP (assuming all goes according to plan) and I'll try to remember to do a kit list thing but basically it will be 'as little as possible': arm warmers, leg warmers, waterproof, thermal top and the various odd'n'sods needed to recharge lights/ Garmin/phone/camera etc. Thanks for the comment, happy riding!

      Hey thank you! Both for watching and commenting. It was computer problems that stopped me making videos but I was still riding so have a few in the pipeline, including Venice-London via Innsbruck, the Bodensee, Strasbourg etc. It was fabulous! Hope you’re well and riding happily!

      @@londoncenturies Hello, I hope the Computer is no longer keeping us away from great journeys and especially your route crossing the Alsace and the Alps is one thing I am really waiting for, including where you turned the corners to eventually get some new input for future. The year was a pleasure so far, the cool conditions outside are reallly mine and I appreciate it more than summer rides (excluding the pauses under some beautyful trees and the stops to enjoy the view without getting cold). I do not know how covid infection(s) influenced your last years effords but I was infected twice last year and everytime it was slowing me down and throwing be back for 6 weeks or two month... this year I seem to be immune and >150k are only a question of nutrition. Have a nice start into the spring time and thanks for sharing your wonderful rides.

      @@kaffeemitcola6506 Hey thanks. Yes, covid got in the way early last year but (fingers crossed!) not since then for me, fortunately. But 2 x 6 weeks or so sounds very unlucky, hope you manage to dodge it from now on. Turning the corners: in retrospect I could have picked a better route (but that's always the way, right?), particularly finding my way from Innsbruck towards Garmisch. It was a rainy day and the Austrian traffic was quite bad although conditions improved and there was some lovely forest near Oberammergau. A friendly bike shop somewhere near there, too!

      @@londoncenturies Hello! The time with covid was an appreciation booster for easy pedaling with full lungs and we are lucky to get away from it riding our bikes. / Its OK not to take the best route because its a reason to come back and find a better one and there are sometimes things to find beside a bad route that will always be part of a nice memory. I do not know yet where you went around the corners from Innsbruck to Garmisch but I guess you fought your way over the Fernpass and if you took the road its quiet nasty. The first time I went along this area (20years ago or so) I did it without GPS and electronic stuff and I will never forget it. One thing I learned the last years is that the way up from Nassereith to the Fernpass is possible besides the road on the Via Claudia Augusta with narrower tires. Downhill to Ehrwald the forrest road is too bad for a roadbike. 2 years ago I was "inspecting" that segment the last time and it has not changed a lot compared to the years before. The uphill on the quiet side, not on the major road leading up the Ferpass ist really enjoyable. Liebe Grüße 🙋‍♀

      Thanks Rob, appreciate the comment. Yes, I'm working my way through the qualifiers and ticked off my 400 recently (but didn't make a video because I've had computer problems). Next one will be a 600 back in Wales again and fully intend to make a vid for that one, I'm hoping it's going to be a great ride, it's the Bryan Chapman Memorial end-to-end. Happy riding!

    Thanks for the inspiring video's LC ... Always enjoy your rides. You have amazing stamina .... I'm a fit 65, but I usually reach my limit around 70-80km ... 100km at a real push.

    • @londoncenturies
      @londoncenturies  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and leaving the comment. I could bore you stupid with thoughts on stamina etc but it mostly boils down to a few key things: a little knowledge about physiology goes a long way (hence, if the current’limit’ appears to be 80km, does that coincide with glycogen depletion and if so, how about trying to train fat-burning intensity?) and it’s usually the mind holding back the body not the other way round! At least, that’s what I’m going with for the moment! 😀 Thanks for the comment, happy riding!
