  • ❤ I originally learned the Bas-Relief technique from Maggie Austin, whose cakes are true pieces of edible art. I was especially intrigued by how she could achieve those beautiful organic textures and blend bas relief into fondant.
    This technique is so versatile, and from the production point of view, so very efficient (tip: you can hide all your mistakes on a cake using bas relief)!
    I've incorporated this technique to my repertoire of sugarcraft and per a lot of requests, now I share it with you!

    I love this design so much, but would it taste weird on a cake because of using dried out fondant? X

      Personally, I don't eat fondant. Especially if cake was on display for several hours. For me, fondant serves the same need as banana peel - to protect the inside. However, if you are concern about the taste, you can use mildly dry fondant - leave it our for an hour or so.
