This report of yours is FARRRRR FROM REALITY-GO FACT CHECK:
You guys who sit in AC rooms are far from reality, policies are made based on realities and field, not on the basis surmises and conjectures, as done in this video and FARM BILLS
Can u compare apple and oranges?
How can u compare farming and Industry and deregulation? This is foolishness!
When u compare, please compare the comparables.[aap to Article 14 ki violation kar rhe ho start krte hi]
Free competion is good in factories and Industries; in farming u need to save him from explotation, along with free trade, regulation should be priority in India, 🙏🏻
Read section 6, section 11 of PRICE ASSURANCE ACT!
THere is no regulation on the buyers(corpoaates, who are given freedom) and Farmers(who in Punjab had freedom to sell in any APMC MANDI within State ) will be exploited!
Aa jaate hain bina bills ko parhe JHOOTH KA GYAAN dene. MSP hone se nhi DENE ki baat hai, MADI CHAALU HAI, aao mandi mein? We are asking for our Rights! Give us Right to get benchmark Prices! This is our demand.
These bills don’t seem to be drafted by experienced IAS officers, but by CORPORATE LAWYERS. The wording of the bills favour the exploters! Moreover name and objectives are ironical and misleading with respect to the provisions of the act. JUST LIKE ‘SABKA SATH SABKA VIKAS SABKA WISHWAS’, where they forgot the meaning of SABKA; have u taken us Farmers in confidence before passing ordinance, NHI LIYA, so stop using above slogan coz it is fake slogan like Indra Gandhi’s Gareebi hatao! Eh jalam sarkaaran kad tak sada naash kardiya rehngia, kad tak asin ashi jawange?
Coming to misleading bills and this video-
Quality check ke nam pe soshan kon dekhega?? Farmers have to cross such hurdles there, not the journalists like u. So talk of our rights, dont repeat false rhetoric that gov is repeating!
The farm produce price can be changed as per the contractor company at time of sale as it is subject to fluctuations. And u say it will help farmers. We already have bitter experiences of Lays factory and potatoes in sangrur and wine factory and jeon farmers. Please donot teach us.
We are not old-age’s farmers, we are graduates now, if we are not graduates, our daughters and sons are graduates. Even if they are less literate, we have hard experienced in Punjab. Donot teach us. If u come to Punjab to teach us, we will WELCOME YOU and you will be taught about reality in fields and mandis🙏🏻 Thank you for misleading in the video
Now MSP, arey bhai woh toh abhi bhi hai, kya humari sari faslein uthhate ho MSP pe? We should be given RIGHT TO SELL AT BENCHMARK PRICE, MSP here.
Kisaan ko rulaoge aur anaj bhi khaoge
      Jai Kisan Jai jawan
      Kisani EKTA ZINDABAD!💪🏼

A millionaire journalist talks about reforms for poor farmers itself is a joke. Someone whose entire journalism rarely we see him speak for the farmers. SG is the opportunistic journalist. This government is only interested in Big Corporates which will buy dirt cheap from the farmers and sell profitable when they control the markets. In name of freedom for farmers APMC will be dismantled and poor farmers will not get even MSP. What did the government promise when the destroyed PSUs. Today Telecom has become virtually duopoly, Aviation is devastated. When farmers committed suicide in Lakhs the government put everything under the carpet. Now when big industrial houses and MNC want to enter big food retail businesses they are out to fool farmers. These Corporate media managers can even get few journalists to write articles for them and also do videos shows favouring their positions. We dont need left parties or Congress to understand this but only genuine concern for the poor farmer.

The minimum support price is what the least the farmer gets now, they will we forced to sell for dirt cheap prices to Big pocket MNC and Indian MNCs in future and the option of selling anywhere makes no sense and you don't understand its practical difficulties just like this stooge corporate journo because you are not in the field.

If a farmer is to load the entire produce into a truck and bring it to the city then he has to take it straight to the mandi /apmc market. As a son of a farmer, you should try to educate yourself. Also, Start asking questions to the govt and not to other parties who have been out of power for years now. The media is anyway asking questions to them.
Now the answer to your question, Farmer suicide rates aren't high in areas of Punjab, Haryana. They are high in states like Maharashtra, tamil nadu, Bihar etc. If you look at stats, 96 percent farmers outside punjab and haryana are dealing with private buyers and hence, Aren't getting the desired pay for their produce. Also, there are certain issues with the APMC's but eradicating it in favor of a complete monopoly threatened bill isnt the solution. As the son of a farmer, you must know it better than me. Farmers have been disempowered at the hands of lowly middlemen, urea manufactureres etc. It's high time we care about farmer's business model, and not flood him with (nonsensical) subsidies.

Issue here is how contractors or corporates judge the quality of produce crop Farmer will left of the witch hunt of big corporate. Plz have in mind that farming crop is perishable item it ha certain time frame to cut sell and store . Here all bill are silent to safe guard farmer. No subsidy is given actual in punjab haryana government tax as market fee was around 14 percent when vat of msp which same as corporate tax such a shame there is also no tax slab evasion for very small farmer and with gst it is around 8.5percent. @K 2 In developed countries farmers are not subsidized because the companies are taking advabtage of them. Subsidies are there to protect the domestic farming sector. Something like import substitution industrialisation in which you protect certain industries that are core to you.

Absolutely. All these protests seem politically instigated - a result of misconceptions and resistance to change (even if it maybe for the better). Half the farmers seem to just go with whatever some leader or the other is saying instead of understanding the bills and repercussions themselves. Reminds me of the time when private companies and privatisation was first introduced and public companies made such a hue and cry about it - just because they would face stiff competition now. Their life would no longer be laid back.
Vested interests are fuelling the protests.

The assumption behind freeing the farmer from the clutches of nexus, is that freedom to trade, allowing hoarding and contract farming will enable better price discovery, which is doubtful or flawed. But what SG forgets is that the new middleman will be the big corporations which will setup new clutches for the farmer. So its not a watershed moment of reform, rather a watershed moment of transfer of colonization from nexus of buyers, traders and consumers to nexus of big corporations. Farmers will never be able to free themselves. But if this will not save the agriculture sector, nothing else will. This will only push more people out of agriculture in long run and help formalize our economic structure like the rest of the world. Ugly but true way to detox the agri sector. The intent of the government is right.

I personally own a farm in south India. Knowing the specifics of what it entails, there is really no reason to push the burden of MSP on the rest of the citizenry beyond what has been done since 1966. Yes. I know how painful it is to see a farmer committing suicide when the crop fails. This is precisely the reason why we should stir the pot. Just because someone had the courage to stir a pot, doesn't mean they are against you. They are just showing you the mirror to change. I am not an entrepreneur in software tech. I get shown that mirror from my customer's, investor's and team - every day.

    Thank you so much wholeheartedly!!!
    1) The Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce Ordinance just says that all types of agri trade will be allowed (even outside state regulated) APMC mandis. So, now anyone can trade within the State or across the state all over India and it can be physical trade or online trade. And the most important thing is if Vivek opens a mandi/market for trade of agri commodities (ether i am procuring from farmers and selling it to retailers in my physical mandi or I opened an online portal just like amazon) anywhere in India then NO STATE CAN PUT ANY KIND OF TAX/CHARGES ON AGRI TRANSACTIONS.
    2. But if trade happens through State APMC mandis then there are various charges. For example commission agents (arhatiyas) get 2.5%, State Govt imposes mandi charges and cess which gives them Revenue BUT all these charges get built in the price and ultimately the 135 crore consumers suffer in terms of higher prices. So, if the trade move out of these APMC Mandis (till 5th June no one was allowed to trade outside APMC), then who is at LOSS???.
Answer: The commission agents (intermediaries) and the State Govt and its corrupt officials. And who will gain..........135 crore consumers of India. And there is no direct impact on farmers but in future they will gain because of several mandis and buyers. And direct procurement from farmers may end up giving more money to farmers for their produce. BUT THEY WHY FARMERS ARE PROTESTING???? Answer is they are being lured into protest.
Big farmers of Punjab and Haryana who sell at MSP to FCI in these mandis are thinking (and are forced to think by politicians) that in future Govt. may stop procuring at MSP (but the ordinance does not say this at all) of wheat and Rice and if prices fluctuates on lower side then they may loose because then they have to sell to private traders. BUT why not the other farmers of India are protesting. The Answer is....................MSP is announced for all over India for 25 crops but SINCE 1965........(when FCI got established).............FCI HAS PROCURED ONLY WHEAT AND RICE AND MAINLY FROM THESE TWO STATES PUNJAB AND HARYANA (and to a certain level from MP, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh also). BUT mostly Punjab and Haryana farmers, traders, commission agents, govt has benefitted till now. And who has lost...........135 crore Indians, All other state's farmers.
    3) Actually in the last 50 years of this REGULATED agri trade has benefitted the corrupt intermediaries and officials/politicians and they dont want this system to be reformed. Govt should stop procuring at MSP and it should stop giving PDS foodgrains. And just transfer the same benefit in to their account. Everyone will benefit except these agents/corrupt FCI officials/politicians.

the farmers protested as the govt now refused to buy the non basmati paddy which is purchased by only the govt and when it is sold directly to traders they give a very low price as compared to the price which govt pays for the non basmati paddy. The farmers would have occured a heavy loss due to the law and only after the protest did the govt agree to purchase that paddy

Which is actually good. Not for the farmers, but for the govt. the government has triple buffer stock in wheat and other commodities. It is rotten away by years to come. The government don’t want to buy rice when they have too much of it. This will also force the farmers to make basmati rice only as private will only buy the better quality rice.

    Dear Shekhar Gupta,
Allow me to brief you on some important factors. First of all, your knowledge is inadequate regarding the farm bills so I would request you to stop commenting on something you have absolutely zero knowledge. You sound like an intellectual but your homework was far from truth on the Bills.
I am a lawyer by profession. Did my bachelors from Panjan university. Post grad from England. Worked for apparently the best law firm of india (Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas) and now I am licensed lawyer in canada. (Law Society of British Columbia).
Let me tell you why your knowledge is adequate and far from truth. I come from farmers family. Fortunately, the well off ones who have other sources of income apart from farming.
Let's talks about the Bills in layman's language for everyone here to understand.
    1) first bill that talks about removing restrictions from hoarding.
Truth is farmer neither had the infrastructure to hoard nor did their pocket allow that. It wss the middleman who was hoarding and selling at high prices when the demand was high. The middleman did it discreetly as they were scared of the criminal charges and from being penalized. With removing the restrictions, the farmer is going to be in worse situation. Middleman could hoard to a small level but with corporate houses, the hoarding would be on the highest level. The farmers will be exploited to a level they would not be able to endure. They already do not have much negotiating power. The first bill will give a freehand to the big players to exploit the poor farmer without any repercussions.
    2) second bill that talks about removing mobility restrictions. Let me give you an eg. Punjab Punjab Haryana have MSP. Bihar and UP dont. When these Bills were passed. The middleman from these states, picked up the grains from the poor farmers there and sold them in our Mandis. The middleman made the profits. It hurt the UP bihar farmers as they had to sell their produce in literally 1/3rd or less of the MSP in our states as usual as they cant hoard for having no infrastructure or money. The farmers of our States punjab and Haryana faced the wrath too because the middleman from other states came and sold their produce here to take advantage of MSP and thereby exhausted our CASH CREDIT LIMIT (CCL). All states get CCL. If the other states wnat to sell their produce here, their CCL should be allotted to us but taht doesn't happen. So in short, Punjab and Haryana exhausted their CCL before their crops were even ready for harvest thereby not being able to get MSP for their produce. The UP Bihar farmers get exploited because they have no MSP and were taken advantage of by the middleman.
    3) the third bill that talks about the contract farming is nothing but a way the farmer would be exploited to no recourse. A practical example here, farmers here in Haryana sold their sugarcane to a mill 3 years ago and they haven't been paid as yet. This happens when you pit a strong player against an unsophisticated poor player. If this bill is passed, the company I contract with will tell me what I should be producing. Let's say potatoes. I invest everything I have and grow potatoes for 6 months. Then after 6 months the company will check the produce. If it's as per their specifications, they will accepts else reject. So let's say, when they inspect it they found only 60% potatoes of correct size and correct moisture level. They reject the 40%. You are forgetting that first under contract the farmer would not be allowed to sell his produce to any other player except the one he contracted with (exploitation chances). Secondly The farmer faces the risk of his produce being refused in the end (losses). The farmer might have to bribe the inspector for passing the checks ( exploitation). The produce that has been rejected by the company, let's say 40%, would not fetch even basic prices (because the potatoes are really small size or sweet in taste or more moist, things taht a farmer has no control over). If this bill wasnt in places he could have sold this in the market as a bulk all correct and incorrect as one, to anyone who gave him good price, but with this Bill, he would become nothing but a labourer of the company in his own farms.
The situation is dire. It is utterly ridiculous for you to comment the Bills are good. Farmers know what they need. Situation was bad before with the middleman in the scene. But now the situation is worse. The bills have completely taken away the bargaining power of a farmer and have pit him against big shots. What is happening with the farmers today is terrible and you pseudo intellectuals are making it even worse. The farmers know what's the best for them. The govt needs to talk and find a middle ground. You are trying to control them without even listening to their sides
Let me give you an example that we urban people would understand better. The west we say is way ahead of us in almost eveyth. Even today some countries try to pass the abortion Bills, banning abortions. The women of that country (Poland 2016) brought the entire country to standstill and won. They asked how and why the men found it okay to decide about their bodies. It's their body and they should be allowed to make a call if they want to abort or not. No one has a right to rule their body.
In my opinion, as a feminist, as a farmer, as a lawyer, as a person who is well travelled and knowledgeable about the ground reality. The Bills are shit served on a platter.
I request you to do your research better, forget the past and talk about the present and the future.
Also MSP is for 22 crops on paper, but is implemented for only 2 crops in reality. They Bills don't ensure MSP coverage for even a single crop. Even if they do, the chances are negligible it would be followed.
Also, their is no recourse to judiciary under those Bills. Executive courts would be established. You are taking away the basic human rights of moving to the court if the farmers have an issue.
I could care to give your more knowledge on the same, if you care to dialogue.
I just request you to stop imparting half knowledge. Its doing more harm than good
    Thank you

Indian farming industry will be in deep trouble soon, if we are not waking up now. I am sharing my observations, but political parties and scientist should come together to find solutions with possible reforms.
I am from a small village, by taking my village as an example I will try to explain.
    1. When I was child, farmers used to be from all the age groups but now 90% of the farmers are above 40 years. Next generation is not interested in farming industry due to losses and instability in prices. What next? From where do we get Food?
    2. When I was child, our village used to export milk. But now we are buying milk from nearby cities. Now less than 100 dairy animals in our village (Due to age, farmers are unable to maintain these animals). What next? From where do we get milk?
    3. Tomato, onion and other vegetable prices are less than INR 5 /kg in our village, on the same day it will be more than INR 50 in Delhi. Sometimes farmers are not even harvesting their products to avoid losses (labor cost to harvest is higher than the selling cost).
    4. We have farm labor shortage; this is so expensive that we sometimes invest more than 60% on this.
These are only few examples. Due to heavy losses, there are many farmer suicides in southern and central states.
Farmer needs reforms and support from governments especially,
    1. Easy and inexpensive transport of farm products from any place to any place has to be provided, without state restrictions.
    2. Proper storage facilities are required.
    3. So many like this.
If farming is not made profitable, nobody will take it as a profession results in the scarcity in food.
Hope all parties will come together to find a solution soon.

When it comes to increase in income farmers are last ones in the line. Whenever they try to earn some profit everyone has their own story whether it's consumer or politicians.

Only the big farmers end up earning profits.
Being from a family of small farmers with nuclearisation of land farming hardly gives the returns for an Indian farmer.
Without a job it will be really hard to survive.

    okay sir,
you talked about MSP let me tell you a scenario of sale of maize this season. The MSP of Maize is 1850rs per quintal so farmers should be able to sell their produce at 1850rs but no they weren't able to do so and sold at around 800-1000rs per quintal because no one buys at MSP.
same happens with moong, urad, cotton and other crops. the only we as farmers want is to be able to sell our crops atleast on MSP. Modi govt's bill only need to add this one clause that if anyone buys from farmers below MSP there will be severe consequences, so that it can ensured that a farmers' life isn't left at the plight of corporations.
Another thing you talked about is that a farmer can't sell beyond his area's mandi, well he can a lot of farmers of punjab sell the basmati rice crop at mandis in haryana. so mandi freedom is already there.
Another one is about contract farming issues suppose a company refuses to pay a farmer the price as per the contract then why the powers are being taken away from farmers to file a case against the company & let a judge make a decision? why a farmers shouldn't be able to fight for hi rights in the court? why is it that only SDM or DC can hear the appeal of farmers and farmers can't go in the court?
if anyone be it a trader or corporation want to buy from us our produce they should definitely be able to do it. but we want an assurance that they won't buy below MSP.
(regarding that rs5000 crore that state govt spend to provide free electricity to farmers that is a blessing for farmers because otherwise electricity bills alone would be so much more than the profit that a farmer can possibly earn.)

    Shekhar ji,
I am a Rubber plantation owner from a family in this business for more than hundred years. In our experience, whatever economists, scientists, bureaucrats, politicians or journalists say or write about, they always get away, if their prescriptions are wrong, because unfortunately there is no accountability for all the above classes of people. All they have to do is shoot from the hip, mouth and pen, and whether people suffer or benefit, is of no consequence to them. There is a trust deficit between farmers and all the other classes I have mentioned above. And this issue can be solved by talking with the people affected. Farmers are not some idiots living in Rural India, in fact, many of us are more educated, intelligent and hardworking than our urban counterparts. But unfortunately all the classes of people I mentioned address Urban India because that's were the moolah is, and many urbanites think that farmers can be easily twisted by some third rate politicians. Do some real research. I wonder when was the last time Ila Patnaik took her head out of her numbers and interacted with Farmers to find out their real problems. Because such interactions will also give birth to some lasting solutions. Jai Hind. Bharat Mata Ki Jai!

But when it comes to first hand information like relying on his team for details on Delhi riots it was absolute shit show. Simply because their bias came out and they almost literally said Bad Hindus there where worse than Bad muslims there.

Sorry but this does not answer some glaring questions and glosses over certain key points, I'm not sure if this was trying to meet a certain narrative
Point 1 - You claim MSP is not being done away with, why couldn't such an important point find a place in this act. this act now makes the earlier act redundant which means MSP is now not mandatory
Point 2 - If the APMC process is broken its because of lack of control on the middleman, this new act is not taking away the middleman. You'll just have middlemen now working for a corporate
Point 3 - There is no lock in price, read the act it's use of language does not make it binding on the corporate to follow a fixed price based on a legal agreement i.e. if the corporate agrees to a certain price at the beginning of the sowing season, it can change the price at harvest without repercussions
Point 5 - There is nothing stopping a farmer from selling directly to the consumer even today, please do see farmer arrangements with the new grocery ecommerce ventures who have already undertaken such initiatives. The issue is that most farmers don't have access to transport that will reach these hubs which is still going to be an issue.
Point 6- The ECA was setup to prevent hoarding , yes it turns out it again was poor implementation,. But now what will prevent hoarding
