this is amazing info man, cannot thank you enough for giving this stuff out for free 🙏 big realization i was doing nowhere near enough, very insightful
Thank you for a clear "HERE'S WHAT TO MAKE" section. that's what we struggle most with. Also, we have had reels blow up on facebook and it's brought in some interesting results. so I wouldn't ignore it completely!
I’ve binged watched this channel for nearly a week and some change now. It’s got me PUMPED for next year as I transition from my band that I’ve been in for the past 6 years to a solo project, when I was feeling completely hopeless about the music biz before. Ive never really had a good gut reaction from music marketing channels, and I’ve even fell for some of the gimmicks from companies that push fb ads and other bs, but I truly feel like if I follow your plan I can finally get a grip on my music career and it fires me up. One more thing to those reading my comment: because I’ve deep dived nearly every video and playlist Jesse mentions in his captions and cards, I have a much easier understanding of everything in this video. If this all feels overwhelming, do yourself a favor and really go deep on this channel. Thanks man!
As someone who used to think “let the music speak for itself” and complain about all the work using every possible outlet to promote music is, can confirm I’ve been following this to a tee (with nuance that fits what my band has going on) and so far our new song has been out just over 2 weeks and currently has the same amount of Spotify/Apple/TH-cam streams and plays that the rest of our discography got after either several months or a year/years. Jesse thanks again for sharing all your knowledge it’s paid dividends for us in 2025 so far and we have NEW fans that have just found us and are looking forward to hearing our new EP!
Wow, such an overload of information from just one video! If I had been drinking at work while watching this, I'd be WASTED right now! looking forward to joining your subscription program :)
Hi Jesse, a massive thank you for such a clear and thought provoking video. You articulate clear formats that come up over and over. I do have something we might disagree about, perhaps. In my experience, when I find an artist on Instagram whose sound is interesting, but their profile shows me ten reels back to back of the same section of the same song with some lazy visuals over it, my first thought is that this person has only this to offer. I would have to say that the music would have to be exceptional to make me follow that right away. However, if I find a musician playing something not as complete, but with different bits of music for every reel, I can tell that I will familiarize myself with this person's sound over weeks or months if I follow them. After some time, I might check out their full project. What about the idea of releasing audio snippets of an entire album through different visual formats? An album could create 20 to 30 different audio snippets and if the visuals match across reels, they could feel cohesive. That way, there would be more variety across reels and a subtle message that it's worth following to see the progression.
1 you can curate what shows up in your profile 2. Data shows that while you feel this way one of the worst things we do as artists or marketers is assume our own behavior is commonplace. 3. This is what the most viral artists do so proof it works. Tons of example on my member feed or newsletter.
You can even take a video of an open mic, you would be surprise how many short clips you can get from a 20min open mic slot of your own songs, or even covers. Also don't forget to submit performance logs with a PRO for a few $ for your originals.
Can you make a video on what the minimum posts we should be doing to promote our song? As somebody with a full-time job and two kids this would be super helpful! Love to write and record music not make short form Videos lol
Another bomb of great music marketing, thanks Jesse! I failed at my last release because I didn't had the content done before hand and life got in the way, so would you say this plan or an adaptation of it would work to promote an existing song, or maybe better to re-release it? Thanks!
@currentcontentco well first I learned how to do it myself and developed it then she just got it and improved upon it and then I stole more from her and vice versa
I have a dumb question. On day 15, we release the lyric video. Then there is a note to single out some lyrics and expand upon them. Is that a note on SFV to post that day? If so, would we still use the hook as the sound even if we are sharing a different part of the song? Or are those just some notes on a technique for developing the look of the lyric video vizualizer?
I think there’s some confusion I’m talking about different routes you can take a mvv can everything from a tiny bit of motion to a lofi vid you act out and make on the cheap. I suggest making from lowest entertainment to highest as the rollout goes. Look at Tommy rich man million dollar baby as a good example of theee levels of mvv
So should we have all this content already DONE before even submitting the song to distro and getting a release date? l know you said to have content ready but do you mean this 60 day plan content before the song is actually out on all platforms?
I think people spend waaaay too much time promoting one track, than working at their craft. I just can't see how anyone is interesting enough to make me want to want 60 videos of them, promoting ONE track. I mean, yeah, there may be quite a few people using methods like this, and do well with it, but, for every 1000 artists that it works for, there's literally tens of thousands releasing 60 videos to crickets. Seriously, we have to put a cork in this constant craving for interactions. I ain't looking for an argument here, as if it works for you, have at it, and I hope it brings what you need. For me, it's a depressing look at what the role social media plays in music, and more importantly, what an artist thinks people want to see.
beyond irony listening to this from someone wearing an aphex tshirt. Can you confirm sir that most of this advice does not apply to electronic genre artists and is really aimed at bands / indie artist?
Dude no way ur for real. Aphex twin is massive on tik Tok and plenty of electronic and indie bands come up during this times with these same methods. Where most people fail in those genres is sticking to the same sounds from people before you instead of innovating and adding a modern touch.
@ i wasnt having a go just pointing aphex is as anti personal promotion as it gets. hes mass on tikytoky coz hes just mass anyway not because of marketing tactics on it. my question is genuine as i feel/think this info applies to bands mostly.

Thank you Sir
It’s so helpful and I’ve really learnt a lot
Thanks Jesse! Had an issue with opening the spreadsheet but figured it out since then
So look at the bottom where there’s multiple sheets and select the second cheet. It’s bottom left.
@@Musformation thanks, got it. I was using an app that wasn't showing that but got it on google sheets.
Jesse, thank you for helping me!
ty for spreadsheet
😎
Perfect timing haha
You make some good points . Thanks CAMCURSE
Wow this really felt like a Jordan shoe release. I’m so excited
Lol
Thank you Jessee Who else is using this for the next release! I'm going to do a before and after.. for reference.. I only have 28 listeners rn wah wah
Thank you for this!!!!!
Good news boys, if you do this you'll make it because your competition, me, won't.
Lmao
Can you make a video on what the minimum posts we should be doing to promote our song? As somebody with a full-time job and two kids this would be super helpful! Love to write and record music not make short form Videos lol
oml this is intense ill just retain the info + actionable tasks and go with the flow lol
This is easily the most incredible practical and viable strategy that anyone can use with an almost 0$ budget.
Appreciate that very much
Nice video ❤ Thank you
extremely valid
Ok, so promote ✅
First! ❤
this is my sh*t thanks Jesse

would be dope if you could make a video on how to actually use your analytics after a certain amount of time has gone by?
😎
So how would many of these examples work with instrumental/classical music? 🤔
We’ve done a couple artists who do instrumental tracks on the member feed. There’s plenty to do
O meme da Nazaré em 00:45 hahahaha 🇧🇷
What site would you recommend to collect emails, both paid and free❔
Trilby
He’s right tho I got 3 new singles made, and i only promote 2 new tracks that’s ready to go
How do you think the TikTok ban is going to affect this strategy
Yo jesse do u edit these yourself or do u hire an editor?
Both some are me some are editors
@@Musformation Dude your editing style is so dope and engaging, how did you approach finding your editor after you knew what you wanted?
@currentcontentco well first I learned how to do it myself and developed it then she just got it and improved upon it and then I stole more from her and vice versa
Where’s the audience finding video link?

What say you Jesse, is it dumb to drop an alt-rock single in December, should one wait to January?
At what size/monthly listeners does it not matter?
It’s just hard to get any attention till mid january
What is MVV?
Don’t forget about “beer pong with myself”
An IG banger
how do i create an email list for my fans?
What is the best program to use to create video clips/videos?
CapCut or DaVinci resolve both have their strengths
You mentioned 2 minimum viable videos then a visualiser but in your video about MVVs you said they're the same thing. So which is it?
I think there’s some confusion I’m talking about different routes you can take a mvv can everything from a tiny bit of motion to a lofi vid you act out and make on the cheap. How often would you say the ear worm of a song is not the chorus? Is it a crime to test other sections?
Hell no dude
lol i blew up on facebook 😅
whats MVV?
Hit the description Minimum Viable Video
**POV** You just watched Jesse Cannon's new video and now you have liver failure.
Lmao
Did he take a breath?
Nah
Anybody here do EDM? Especially songs without lyrics? I’m wondering how to translate some of this stuff
so drunk halfway through
Lol
Can I pay you to make my music promo?
:/
