    Great vid! I think 2025 will see a need of “realness” from artists because of some much AI and deep fakes over the last couple years.
    It’s time for artists personalities to shine I think.

    We're a Canadian blue collar BluesRock band. Our fan building model so far is playing live shows and building our fan base one person at a time. Unfortunately, today your lucky to get 50 people out on a Saturday night and most go home before midnight. So, our approach is to talk to EVERYONE during band breaks and thank them for coming to the show. We give away tshirts in exchange for their email to build out list. Yeah, it's expensive, but people are now showing up to our shows wearing them which is inspiring other people to actually buy them. Plus, taking time to talk to the people that show up makes them feel like their part of something special, and we're starting to notice them coming back. #BluesRockRules

      nice. THAT is how you invest in your brand. A band IS a business, as much as most of us wouldn't like to think that way. And you must invest in that business if you ever expect a degree of success, anything else is just relying on charity. look at every huge rockstar you know. You know about them, because their record label (back in these days) spent literally hundreds of thousands of dollars and music production and distribution, with crazy amounts of paid promotion. But people seem to think that all they need to do is be good and everyone will care and buy their stuff. it's relying on charity. You need to know your product and your value, and go sell it and show people. good job dude

    WHat's the worst thing that can happen to an indie on Spotify with a great song? Are you kidding? It gets stolen by a pirate, shoved through AI, changed enough to cover it legally, uploaded on multiple platforms and then a copyright claim is made against the original artist on TH-cam, and TH-cam says they can't stop it. I don't understand why you aren't addressing this reality. PLUS spotify is openly saying they don't pay indies. PLUS Spotify is majority owned by the major lables. Naaa, Spotify is a place you go once you get word of mouth ELSEWHERE!

    A bit of a rough topic, but I believe there would also be a significant opening in political art. With AI saturation becoming more of a problem, class consciousness in healthcare increasing, legislations competing with common interests, and especially the reintroduction of a certain president, there is a lot of anger and passion within certain demographics that can be utilised to grow a strong fanbase.
    Obviously, this isn't to mean you should start exploiting real fears and struggles for monetary gain, but I do believe being open about these issues in a way that is relatable AND true to yourself could give artists a massive advantage in this climate.

    "the shocker" 😂😂😂
    Great video, anticipating the 25 plan. AI music/artists will be like NFT, blow up and when people realize its just not substantial hopefully fade away. Labels and Spotify will rip us off more and more with their fake artists in fake trending playlists. Ad-spend will be more and more expensive because of the oversaturation and labels pushing in so much money which makes it not lucrative for the diy artists.

  • @natcartier
    @natcartier 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

    Emotional Connection & Storytelling
    That's what I believe is most valuable long-term and best for building that true fanbase and brand. Use AI to help you do this. Tell the best and most original stories that relate deeply to emotions. Don't be the same old thing be the "they've never seen that before" but add emotional connection to that - then you're no doubt winning in 2025.

    My struggle is finding venues for shows in my area. I am busy working and woodshedding. I feel for smaller artists it is important to have physical merch/cds/whatever media you have to sell. There is no viable streaming. They pay way too little. Download services take too much of the profits. There needs to be a better system for musicians.

      Streaming uses someone(s) intellectual property for nearly free which wrong. Artists should be compensated more fairly. Simple as that. Artists got more money from radio from royalties. • @c-flat
    @c-flat 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

    With regards to releases, i tried the single release structure, but found plugging the one song for 6 weeks straight had people a bit bored. So i switched to 2 ep's a year release structure. That way i have 5 new songs to alternate promote, in addition to continue to promote previously released songs. I've now released 5 EPs, so now going to get my current small fanbase to pick their 10 fav songs, then re-record, remix, remaster then re-release. Then target this beyond the current fan base.
    With regards to competing with the big boys expensive content.... i know i cant so i don't try. Instead i am trying to really lean into a deliberate and over the top obvious b-grade style. Having a laugh at myself while doing so.
    If ever i get money, i can pivot from this current style of content.
    I am not sure if this approach will work, as I've not seen anyone try it. Everyone starts out treating the industry like a sprint race, whereas i am starting out treating it like a marathon.
    But i am a eccentric wizard, and people have come to know me as always doing things a little different. 🤘🧙🏻‍♂️🤘😊

    Solid predictions

  • @mauricioariasg
    @mauricioariasg 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +8

    My predictions:
    1) (this is the most optimistic one) because of AI getting better and easier to use, musicians will stop trying to "conquer the algorythm" and all that shit, and will start producing art that they really find inside. Kind of "fuck off, im not gonna win, so i'll enjoy the ride fully". This Way we'll see a bunch of New and revolutionary music all over the World.
    2) touring is difficult and expensive, and streaming is not even close to be considered as a valuable income. So, artists will begin to have a direct option for fans to support them: a way to buy their music directly. In time musicians alike will begin to associate, thus the fan will be able to find several niche-websites where they can buy and even stream music from various artists alike (not many, since the artists themselves are the ones who Will reach each other to associate with).
    3) "guerilla music" will become very relevant, as a Way to stand against massification (that is becoming more and more evident by AI), so we (musicians) will care more and more for the individuals who listen to what is behind music, what really moves our hearts, and let the masses go on without feeling sad or depressed. Let the "masses team" go for the masses, and let us take care and grow the people who look after something more meaningful. As Damo says, it is a race we cant (and really dont want to) win. So lets focus on our thing, we have nothing to lose!

    Watched the whole thing. Great, great, predictions. There's a sea change coming. The old "fat man with a cigar" signing a band or artist paradigm (Boston's "Rock and Roll Band"), that appeared in the 60's has not really gone away, it just flows to another model in one fashion or another. There will always be greedy pyschopaths who bleed artists dry and throw them away. Having grown up in Hollywood (I don't live in CA anymore), I've witnessed the wreckage of those who are thrown away like garbage when they're no longer useful. American Idol does the same thing, when you're out, you're literally shown the curb. The sea change is this, the younger generation will flock to a new model that helps develop them, but also educates them on how to be self-sufficient. The old paradign is also like a prison. You are put in your "cell" and separated from all other artists, no talking, no sharing, no teaming up and working together. This newer generation wants to work together, and you touched on it in your segment about touring with shared resources.
    Today, live music is a STAR way, way out in front of the backing band and their musicianship has as much value as the popcorn vendors in the arena where they're performing. The industry powers don't care to change what they think works, but this sense of unity among growing artists will open up all kinds of possibilities. And the businesspeople that helps faciliitate this very "human" way of doing things will be who thrives. Some artists will really become experts in AI music production and I love that because there are tools now that, (for instance) can analyze a recording and EQ it way faster. Others may love the merch side of it and contribute great ideas. This would be great since some artists may realize their calling is in a support role or publising or whatever. The point is, eliminating the ignorance that big business record labels will open up all kinds of possibilities as musicians and artists unite. Some of what I'm sharing is purposely nebulous for a reason, but again, I enjoyed your take on 2025. Sorry, I got a bit longwinded there.

    Good curation from human experts still matters. Often, I want to hear new music. I generally don't like anything on the pop charts, so just searching for 'new music' is out because every search is gamed into the ground by the major labels. Yes i'm aware Dupa Loopa exists, thanks. I don't want to faff around for 15 minutes before I go for a run looking for something to listen to that's not going to annoy me. I just want to go 'oh, what's so and so got on his/her/their list this week? I don't accept the public as A.R at large, because rather than looking through hundreds of songs, now I've got to look through hundreds of curators. I just want someone who listens to everything as their job to clue me in and to have their objective choices and broad understanding of music,rather than just their personal taste being the deciding factor on what finds its way to my ears out of the millions of new songs out there.

    I think a music video is an artistic expression, just like a song is. It expands the identity of an artist. I've already seen some amazing video clips from artists made with A.I. enhancement that look like a 15 million production. One year ago this wasn't possible, and now it will only become better. It will still cost money and time to make, but it will look epic and expensive. BTW, A.I. video platforms can already expand a "landscape" video from a portrait video.

    Disagree heavily with your point about disposable releases. From personal experience, my music is a product of a lifetime of study, and the true roots of the music that have been preserved for hundreds of years. Respectfully, that is entirely different to bedroom producers/singers/etc. who don't gig their own music, ever.
    Art is a process that doesn't happen overnight, and I would like to think that my music, along with current/future artists, reflects that. Does that sound disposable to you? If we follow this model, the further away we stray from artistic integrity and authenticity, and how original music is viewed by society.

    • @DamianKeyes
      @DamianKeyes  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@TheBDXOfficial I appreciate this, but I would say this is your take on how important your music is to you and not to the world. I’m not discrediting your music or love for your creations however the world is consuming faster so depending on what an artist or label is trying to achieve as an outcome will play a part.
      Music isn’t consumed the same was as it was 20,30 or 40 years ago when people had to work and pay for Individual artists music.
      I would suggest every artist on here will say there art is as important as yours no matter how it’s been produced. It’s both the beauty and pain of creating music.
      I appreciate your take though and always appreciate someone who takes so much pride in their music. Keep smashing it!

    After watching this video it made me want to quit music altogether. Im not one to be too negative usually but with the AI making music at the end which is totally true thats basically a wrap. I can't imagine what its like for artists starting out. Iv been doing this for years and would be considered moderately successful by most. It's just not worth it anymore. I got into this to make music and connect with people, make something unique, and I feel like social media with the new streaming platforms has destroyed it all. Anyway I doubt you read the comments so this was a pointless rant anyway.

    Prediction no 11 - Artist use AI to take over their own distribution relegating big tech into nothingness. Creativity will reign supreme and AI will allow creators to delegate to take back what has been stolen from them.

    • @needviola

      Also, Creators will use AI to police the internet to prevent other AI's from using their music to produce music without compensation. They will use it to create and enforce contracts to protect their content. It is un reasonable to allow a tech company to use a creators work to train an AI to create work without compensation. This is self evident. It's only a matter of time.

    Man, people are all doing it wrong. Since the Internet was a thing, people are doing it wrong in a overcrowded music market. If you want to upload your music on a overcrowded universe then your music will go nowhere. It is lost.
    Do the shortcut, knock on the record label's door. (Old school) You got more chances to know from first hand if you are mean to be or not.
    Unfortunatelly more than 80% of music producers dont have any idea about music, music theory, or anything related. It just happen that they got the tools, totally delusional. They just making beats with a computer smoking maria.
    On top of that, that 20% left of real music makers, only 1% make original stuff, and 0.1% of that 1% are discovered.
    0.05% of that 0.1% get on the top 10 of real charts.
    Desist now, do something productive or just listen to the music made by real music makers. Stop producing crap that goes nowhere, or just make it for yourself for fun and hobby.

    “Put demos up and let people decide what they like” dead. The fashion designer doesn’t ask the public what they want to wear. They make it and the ones with taste consume it. The consumers with taste will tell the general public what is good and bad. It’s the artist choosing what is worthy of consumption. Not the consumer picking what might be art. Hard to hear so called artists have a capitalist approach and mindset for companies who view you as a number. Master your craft, find your niche, find a community and maybe you’ll find that you’re more successful as a producer, session player, whatever. I need to get off the web. I sound crusty lol
