Great story! My dad was in the US Navy and he said he hated the submarines. It was extra pay and better food but, it wasn't worth it. Too cramped, too stressful and too dangerous. Watching this story helped put it into perspective for me.

What "mercy" would that be? Without a shadow of doubt, many millions of people would have prayed for their own lives, or for the lives of those that they deeply loved during the two World Wars. However, it seems that no-one was listening, given the terrible injury toll and countless, agonising, lingering deaths that the people of all nations suffered, including innocent children and mere babies. That being the case, I'd hazard a guess that the crew of UB-65 received not an ounce of preferential treatment. If they had, then I'd want to know WHY.
I have a relative who, during his Royal Navy career, served on submarines. He told me that noone was allowed to serve more than two tours (peacetime) because of the nervous stress and other problems caused by the confined conditions. I take his word for that - and he was talking about modern boats, much bigger and better than the first generation of subs. Regarding 'sea monsters', many years ago I found an account of a small RN ship whose crew saw a strange, giant creature blown out of the water by, I think a depth charge they'd dropped on a suspected U-boat. So they used it for target practice....
You have some of the best content of such channels on TH-cam, and I pretty much follow them all. You always seem to find new stories that aren't widely reported on, which I personally greatly appreciate. It gets tiring hearing so many channels repeat the same stories over and over. Really enjoyed this one today too, I find paranormal sea/submarine stories to be terrifyingly fascinating, as the majority of our planet consists of the oceans, and we know so little of them, they may as well be another planet altogether. I could easily see several of these instances being some form of giant unknown sea creature attacking a u-boat. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to learn if that was what truly happened. Keep up the great work!
Imagine: Guy: *calls HQ* HQ: hello? Guy:hey ummm.. we are about to lay internet cables aaaaaand.... we found a submarine HQ:What? are you joking? Guy: no im not joking HQ: stop messing with me Guy: wai.. HQ: *hangs up*
There's something special about nautical lore. For every sailor there's ten different stories about high strangeness and curious happenings on the high seas. I'm a skeptic, but I find the stories themselves to be fascinating.
Fascinating account of UB65 and the short one of UB85. It appears almost too obvious that UB65 was cursed from inception - way too many freak accidents and related deaths. I wonder if any similar events to UB85 happened during WW2 regarding the "sea monster". Excellent presentation, as always.
No other accidents happened that took any lives between the appearance of the 2nd officer and the final sinking of the ship. Maybe he was standing watch, protecting the crew from the ship's curse.
Or at least trying to, whatever was attacking the Uboat was probably being weakened by the ghost of the second officer, but it only sank after the ship was exorcised, weakening his power.
Just when you're about to go to bed.."bedtime stories uploaded a new video". The bedtime stories from my childhood have changed a bit but still am as excited as ever lol!

Nicely researched and well told. One minor point. The Royal Navy was a highly modern force, but during the arms race with Germany, it did not scrap its pre-dreadnought tonnage but kept all its older ships in commission to bolster the fleet, thus having in effect two fleets. One very modern and another hopelessly old.
@@markmark6408 I feel the same way. And the good thing about the guys here, is that they never confirm anything as real, and they go through a lot of different things it could be.
During WWII, at least two German U-boat crews reported pulling alongside rotting sailing ships that were somehow still afloat despite being mostly rotted away, and with billowed sails even though there wasn't any wind. An Australian warship sent a distress call that just said "Flying Dutchman" before disappearing from radar. Fishermen in South Africa today insist that they've seen a similar ship off the southern coast.
That is strange but true as it’s a strange ghostly submarine UB-65 history in World War-11 and World War-2 . When I was young at my age, I used to watch the wartime movies in World War II stories in the TV set in the family living room. My late father who was in US Army in Europe during World War II, used to tell me about his wartime stories in his real experiences.
I think I read somewhere that a member of the British Royal family, I don’t remember who but I think he was a prince at the time, was on a ship in the middle of a storm. He recalled in his diary that he spotted what appeared to be a tattered sailing ship. Moments later a crewman fell from the rigging of the ship he was on and died on the deck. He and the crew believed that the prince saw the Flying Dutchman, and that it was an omen of death to man that just fell from the rigging.

From what I have read, submarine crews were prone to frequent hallucinations due to low oxygen levels, toxic fumes, poor diet, high anxiety states and lack of sleep. Therefore, a story like this doesn’t surprise me in the least.
I heard that UB 85 was captured because of an idiotic mistake, the crew conjured up a crazy story rather than admit the truth. Great video as always, except for one thing: No usual ending credits music. I'm a sucker for paranormal stories and I love how you bring my attention to ones I've never heard of before, so thank you. :) Keep up the good work!
There are logical explanations for why the crew might see Richter around the ship. Crew members tend to get very close to each other, so when one of them dies, particularly in such a sudden and violent manner as Richter did, it has quite an impact on the rest of the crew. That, plus the isolation that comes with being on a ship, could cause temporary hallucinations of Richter. There is no logical explanation that I can think of, however, for why Captain Grant would see Richter on the bow. Most likely, he'd never even heard of the man. It certainly wasn't Schelle standing there. Any captain worth his salt does everything in his power to save his ship if she starts to go down, as Krech did. He doesn't just give up
just stumbled across this channel, lovely content. Exactly what i was looking for, a balance between outright horrifying scare box and sum mystery take kinda crap. :D
did they get rid of the other guy? Its not that I didn't like him..its that BTS has a certain narrator and to change that is like taking the front man out of a band and replacing him with someone else
Can you please make an episode featuring Ursula and Sabina Eriksson, and perhaps just folie à deux in general? I’m not sure if it’s a compelling enough story for your channel, but if so I’d like to see your take on the phenomenon!
After watching the past 3 episodes, I don't mind at all if you keep alternating narrators. I like the way the guy sounds. But keep Richard narrating if possible too, please. He's the voice of the channel. And idk, there's something unique about how he narrates that just draws you in and fits the topics. I'll make a comment about the new narrator once I've heard him more. Mirokuofnite but that ghost loved the red red wine. 😂
And it couldn't help falling in love with you
There was a rat in it's kitchen
How did you comment a week before the video went up?
@@trevorrapp7197 that's the subject of the next episode
Great video as always, except for one thing: No usual ending credits music.
I'm a sucker for paranormal stories and I love how you bring my attention to ones I've never heard of before, so thank you. :)
Keep up the good work!
He doesn't just give up
Yay my favorite narrator IS BACK!!!
Thanks guys for the Easter surprise and getting the old narrator back!
just stumbled across this channel, lovely content. Exactly what i was looking for, a balance between outright horrifying scare box and sum mystery take kinda crap. :D
Haunting and thought provoking, very good. I like the moving pictures and the seagulls too.
Welcome back brother!
Great Channel!
Great stories, well told and with surprisingly expert illustrations.
i love the drawings.
This is the aesthetic I never knew I wanted.
I love the other narrator, I really do, he does an amazing job, but it's always nice to hear our OG narrator back, excellent stuff as always guys
did they get rid of the other guy? Its not that I didn't like him..its that BTS has a certain narrator and to change that is like taking the front man out of a band and replacing him with someone else
Another great quality episode thank you so much
Can you please make an episode featuring Ursula and Sabina Eriksson, and perhaps just folie à deux in general? I’m not sure if it’s a compelling enough story for your channel, but if so I’d like to see your take on the phenomenon!
After watching the past 3 episodes, I don't mind at all if you keep alternating narrators. I like the way the guy sounds. But keep Richard narrating if possible too, please. He's the voice of the channel. And idk, there's something unique about how he narrates that just draws you in and fits the topics. I'll make a comment about the new narrator once I've heard him more. Keep up the amazing work, guys. What you're doing is amazing. :)
UB65 is the Marine version of Christine💀
I had same thoughts. But its a lil different.
I get far too excited when you post. Thank you for easing many sleepless nights
I’m a simple man. I see anew Bedtime Stories, I click.
