“Doesn’t matter if rivets get stuck in the panel….” Best advice of all. Twice I’ve worked on those f-ing rivets just to realize I’d wasted a bunch of time. My regulator panel was very hard to get out due to the vertical crash brace. You are the ONLY resource that discusses the issues I mentioned above. I should mention my car is 2009 Sonata. Nothing about the rear door regulator for my car that I could stomach watching. Nothing worse than someone who their self is lost trying to help me get un-lost.
FYI, I haven’t found a window or regulator that cannot be moved small distances by hand, replacing the need to reconnect power to line it up. Additionally, the crossed control cables must be a Santa Fe thing. That did not come up on a Sonata.
Again, big thanks for your clarity, staying on topic, and knowing the job. I appreciate your style.

Thanks for making this informative video. Just used it to replace the right rear regulator on my 2005 Santa Fe. Took me about 3 hours. Lots of brittle plastic parts to worry about. I might mention that the wiring harness is part of the door assembly and the regulator has to be unthreaded and re-threaded between the panels at the door. I also decided to leave the speaker out until after the new regulator was completely assembled and functional. It gave a large access hole to see how the window was fitting in the trolley.

We replace the speaker with self tapping screws

Thanks! My sister-in-law was quoted over $600 for this job! I don't know the details yet but 'm sure it's for both the regulator and motor. I'd do it for her in a heartbeat but she's in MA, I'm in VA. For now she has it taped up until I get up there. Rock auto wants $170+ for the regulator and motor, or $115 regulator/$50 motor. Not sure what to get until I look at it, but this video will sure help when I get up there to do the job.

1:00 Half way through doing this on LR door and am not sure why speaker needed to come off. I don't plan to replace the metal delphi plate. (The back side of this plate has the vertical track the window slides on.) So the plate is connected to the window. Also, *why* does door latch need to be removed? Thanks

If you change the entire regulator you need to swap out the speaker

We got the new panel but the regulator cable spool was hanging loose and unwound. Any advice on how to approach winding it back up again? I didn't see any info on that. Thanks for the video!

Question, is replacement of the full panel the only route to repair this, or can you find and swap just the motor and window track assembly? I have a 2012, and it looks pretty much identical to this. Great explanation of this repair, btw!

Need to do this with wife’s 09 Santa Fe. Window is all the way down. How can manually get my window to the position to loosen the regulator bolts. Thank you in advance. Your video is fantastic.

So I just heard a pop while I running the window down. Now the window can be pulled up but wont stay up it seems to have some friction just doesnt stay up the last inch. I can hear the motor in the down window position switch but I cant hear the motor on the up switch position. Is it possible the glass is still on the regulator but the motor is shot. I cant tell if its a motor or regulator issue. It looks to complicated for me to do the whole regulator I can handle a motor replace myself. Or maybe I can place glass back on that screw somehow if that
    fell off.

Your regulator broke. You could probably just lock thew window up but to fix it you'll need to follow the steps in the video

@@PowerUpAuto I just cut a small eraser into a wedge and squeezed it into window pane. Dont need to use that rear window anyway. This car is getting up there in age and have some other repairs coming like evap system that wont let gas into tank to deal with and low on cash.

Does the wires inside door and inside regulator cover piece you unbolt clip together or do wires have to be cut in order to get them thru the new regulator cover? Thanks Richard

    • @PowerUpAuto
      @PowerUpAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Video is pretty clear. You need to remove the latch and outer handle to unhook the wires and pull them through the panel. NO, DO NOT cut any power wires.

I would do a web search for power window repair and the city you are in. Not sure where you went wrong but you may need an expert to resolve it. OR drive it down to Florida and I'm sure I can help with this. Scott

Get a piece of wood and cut it to jam window all the way up. You’ll have to pull the motor to loosen the window.
