yes! discover student it card is literally almost a guarantee- they give about $500 - $2000+ credit limits and no APY for like the first or something (when I had first gotten it)...it was my first credit card in high school and now that I'm finishing grad school and 6 credit cards later, I still have it! Definitely a good first one
It is by far the best starter credit card. It was my first card and I have zero regrets. It’s best if you can get a referral from someone as they will give you a $50 intro bonus for opening up an account and using it.
That payment history is sooo important. Keep the auto payment on at minimum. I do suggest paying it off every month if you can, bc other than that you are throwing away money on interest. I applied for a card as soon as I turned 18 and it was the best decision since it gave me a longer history. Just be educated. FICO score is what you really want to watch. Credit Karma uses a different rating system and it’s not usually what the lender pulls.

I’m so obsessed with paying every 2 weeks, and usually before the statement closing date that my utilization is at 1%
There are occasions where I pay twice every 30 days, keeps the utilization that is reported low.

You want a minimum of 740 to receive the best interest rates any score higher is just icing on the cake

You’ll probably have a lot of hard inquiries on report lowering your score temporarily but it’ll probably have no effect long term.

you need more installment accounts and one more credit card.. Go to credit strong and they have good credit builder installments
