Ha. I just traded my Silverado with the jump seat in for a 2500 Sierra with the center console. I also have 4 kids and my wife wasn't too happy about me losing that 6th seat so I told her I would just swap the console out for a jump seat. Stumbled upon this video and it's exactly what I plan on doing and for the same reasons. I have a 3d printer so I'll be able to come up with some sort of solution for the rear heated seat buttons.

Got it done, I lost all sound and was not sure why… it ended up being the wireless charging pad … I left it with console as I was not going to use it with jump seat due to no space for it, however, when it’s unplugged- all sound is gone and radio/CarPlay/usb/etc has zero sound. Interesting that everything works fine with unplugging and removing Bose subwoofer that’s under the console, but not the case with charging pad. Not sure if it is the case on pick-up trucks, but if anyone doing the swap and lose all sound, it is probably due to the unplugged/missing wireless charging pad.
@@elijahbejan5476 that's interesting that unplugging the charging pad disconnected your sound. That didn't happen to me with the pickup. I wonder what the difference is that would cause that.
@@shawnplatt2823 Yeah, I was kinda worried and didnt feel like putting it all back to how it was in order to see if sound will come back, and checked many fuses and first tried connecting the subwoofer, and nothing worked. Then i decided to connect the charging pad... glad i found it. So your wireless charger is not plugged in and hidden behind carpet/dash?
@@shawnplatt2823 also per GM website, I see that on Suburbans & Yukon XLs, higher trims with center console have 7 airbags, and SLE trim with front row bench seat comes with 6 airbags. So the driver seat on SLT/AT4 and Denali has two side airbags, left and right side. And on the SLE trim with front bench seat, the driver's set only has left side airbag. And the airbag that supposed to be between driver seat and center console is not present... I think it's not safe to have it active when you have someone sitting in the center seat, especially child... So I plan to disconnect it and install/connect a resistor to make the system work as it has all airbags. Not sure if it is same case on pickup trucks or not?

Thanks for this video! Looking into getting a 2500 at4 or Denali because of all the bells and whistles it offers compared to basic or SLE it should be same process correct? If so how is it holding up?
It should be the same for the HD's. I know the AT4X and Denali Ultimate seem to have different interior but other than those models, I think they are the same. Its been holding up great. I have no regrets with having done the swap. We use the jump-seat all the time when my whole family needs to fit in my truck.

I'm in the same boat with 4 kids-this is a great idea to be able to purchases a higher level trim + options as they limit what you can get before forcing bucket seats and center console. I pretty much decked out an SLT, but it's missing a lot of the tech I'd prefer to have. This just opened up that possibility-thanks for sharing. Were you able to get all the trim pieces to close underneath the dash? Do you mind posting a follow up video with the 3D switch holder for the rear seats? Thank you Austin. I was able to get the trim parts for under the dash. There are 2 pieces and I gave the part number for one of them in the video. The other part is www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-parts/gm-lower-extension-84449027

I was in same boat for Suburban/YukonXL, to get front bench to have 9 seats, it is only LS/SLE trim, no options at all, no leather, no heated seats, no power trunk lid, no sunroof, no 360camera, etc... very stripped/base model only. With 7 kids I was able to get higher trim model and make it work. I wish GM would offer the center front seat on higher trims, would make life easier for many buyers/people.
Great video, thank you for doing this. I have 4 kids and I'm shopping for a truck. It's a challenge to fit everyone, but what else can you do if you need a truck. How do you like the change? I test drove a front bench truck and I thought it was very uncomfortable with the tall center seat folded down, I've got long legs. But without it down, nowhere to put your elbow. As someone who has driven both in the same truck, do you still like it?
Yes. I have no regrets. I'm right at 6' and it makes for a comfortable spot to rest my arm. I didn't notice a difference in comfort for myself between the 2.
Shawn, do you still have the paneling piece below the air controls on the dash? I am taking my jump seat out and putting in the console and I need the trim piece that matches the console
What would it cost me for you to make me a prewired console with lower seat vault, se card and all, I have a 2020 Denali 2500, with rear heated seats, I think you could sell a few kits to guys like me with soon to be 4 kids, I bet you could buy that harness from gm so I wouldn’t have to send my harness from my center console, I know time is money and so I appreciate you making the informative video.
Nice job! I'm considering doing the same thing (4 kids too). One question: does this affect the transparent trailering in any way? The technology package is required for that capability, so I'm curious if you loose this feature with the swap.
No I am fairly certain the trailering technology does not run through the center console. I ran for about a week with the old harness in the jump seat before I changed it out for the one from the center console and all the cameras worked the same. I do have the trailering camera ability but I haven't used it yet. But I don't think it will be affected by the swap.
Hi, I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab Trail Boss and I want to do this but one I cannot locate the center console and two, I don't know anyone who can correctly install it. So I would appreciate the help with matter please.
I thought about doing that and it would probably work but it it would be more hassle to open the storage area and put the phone in it than it would be to plug the phone into the usb charger. I always have the seat down to have the center console if nobody is sitting in the seat, and if someone is in the seat then it is even more hassle to get into that storage if they are sitting on it.
When I have the front center seat up it locks the storage lid. After I put it back down I cant get the slorage lid to open. My truck is a 2022. Do you know if there something I have to do to get it to release?

I didn't. I went and talked to someone who would reupholster it and got a quote that wasn't too bad but I ended up just keeping it with the cloth. It doesn't match when the seat is up but when it's down the console matches.
I have the heating and cooling tube runs under the subwoofer, my seat won’t fit with it, what did you do with the subwoofer mount screws and my jump seat seems a little off on hole mounts
The ducting for the heating and cooling does run under the subwoofer but once I took the subwoofer out the seat fits over the ducting with no problems. It also fits over the screws from the subwoofer so I just left them. If your seat isn't fitting over the ducting and isn't lining up could it be that you got the wrong seat? Possibly from the previous models?
Yah turns out the guy labeled it as Chevy trucks but when I questioned him the seat came from a Tahoe. I’m like dude wtf, that’s not even the same thing. So annoyed
Thanks for uploading, even though I plan on doing opposite, it's good to see a reverse engineering. Could you have not used the lighter opening to put rear heated seats button?
The space between the vents is a bit small for the heated seat buttons and mounting it there would be tricky to make look nice but I put it lower with a 3d printed box and it turned out very nice and was pretty simple to do(if you have the ability to 3d print).

Yes. The vented seats still work. I had to make a custom mount to put the buttons for the heated seats in the back but this did not affect the heated/vented seats in the front at all.
It goes straight up under the center dash behind the piece of trim but I'm not sure if your truck will have it. I believe it is specifically for the SD card for the navigation maps and the jump seats don't have the SD port.
I took the lock out and there are some small pins that I reorganized so that the key matched them. Then I put it back in and my key from the truck works on the seat. I can't explain how I did it beyond that. It was over a year ago.
@@shawnplatt2823hey Shawn how did you remove the center key fob reader? There is no space to remove and on my 21 it’s screwed down. No access to get to the screws. Also the mounting bracket nuts are either not meant to come off or they are just really tight.

@@luissgz8066 I would want them. I'm not sure how the seat without vents will block the vent duct under the seat. The one with the vents lines right up with it. The seat you want has the storage under the seat, inside the back of the seat, and has the vents and USB cords. If I gave anything up it would be the USB cords because you could always cut your own holes to mount the ones from the center console into the jump seat.
I just left the cord for the charger under the weathertech and don't have it plugged into the wireless charger so I don't know if it would overheat if I used it.
Why would you purchase an expensive AT4, when you could have just purchased a lower trim level GM 1/2 ton truck that already have a jump seat in it? I would love to have a full center console in my truck. IJS, I think the center console should come with the lower trim GM trucks also.
I like the At4 trim and the factory lift. I also like the center console but I have 4 kids and I use my truck for family camping and outdoor traveling so having the ability to seat 6 is worth not having the center console. I did make sure to get the jump seat with storage so I didn't completely miss out on the console.
I'm not sure if you still need any help but you could try removing the trim piece that holds the wireless charger then unscrew the carrier for the charger, which will separate the connection from those screws and the center console.
I know this is an older video but if anyone has a console they want to sell or possibly work out some kind of trade with the jump seat I would be interested. I have a 2023 Chevy 2500hd custom

Yes. It works normally through the vents in the jump seat. They line right up with the vents that fed the console.

I bought it on ebay. I had to look for a few weeks until one came up with the vents and electronics in it.

It works great. No engine lights on. I haven't had any problems or regrets.

I have had that happen a few times with my seat too. I just pull hard and wiggle it and it eventually popped open.

How do you undo the the wire harness under the passenger seat?
So the jump seat is basically 4 bolts? What is under it to connect the two vents?
The vents in the seat line up with the vents in the floor and connect without any seperate bolting. They just match up against each other.

Yes the a/c vent still works. It lines right up with the vent hole under the console.

I’ve almost ripped out the same screws. There’s no room to take them out. What do you recommend?
Keep in mind I am only trying to remove the stereo and the console seems to be in the way of the trim piece.
