Thank you for the excellent video! I just completed my first front brake job using this video as a guide. Everything was spot on except I needed a 9mm hex bit (not 7mm) to remove the calipers on 2009 GL320 (X164). Fellow DIYers, make sure you have a 9mm hex bit before you start. I did this with a friend and our collective tool sets did not include a 9mm hex. It went from 8mm to 10mm in every set. So, with the wheel already off, my friend drove me to local area automotive stores. None had 7mm or 9mm hex bits in stock. Found a "professional long ball hex bit" at local Harbor Freight in a hex set for $39.99. The bits are 6" long. I mention this because even if our sets had the 9mm bit, they would have been too short to work. The hex fitting inside the bolt is recessed. Our bits were too short as the bit head was too wide to fit into the recess. You need a bit head that is narrow or a bit that's around 3" in length. In hindsight, I see a 3.95" 9mm hex bit on Amazon for $7.19. Make sure you have the proper 9mm hex bit before you start and everything will go smoothly! Good luck.

Hey Autodoc, I must say that I now associate your vids with my vehicle whenever I need to do any tune up. Even with your host/tech not uttering a word he points to every object that he is going to remove/unscrew/or tighten in letting viewers know his next step. Also, there aren't word enough to emphasize the fantastic work of the camera person. Each shot is clear, IN-FOCUS, and also at a point where you're able to see the surroundings for better visual. You have a wonderful crew, *PLEASE NEVER STOP MAKING THESE TYPES OF VIDEOS*

One more thing. A friend help me do the brake job. When we got to the point where we needed to compress the calipers, he loosened the brake reservoir cap. Is that required? Did not see that in the video. Is anyone doing that, too?

Itt doesn't matter if the lid is unscrewed or screwed on.
The essence of the work does not change.
