    Wife and I have the more road-oriented GT Explorer, and took a 2500 mile trip on it to the Black Hills in September, that included long highway miles, lots of curves, and some dirt roads. The big Tiger is very versatile.
    The electronic suspension can be adjusted on the fly, and each mode can have this set individually, for however you want it. I had it set fully soft for most of the trip, but firmed it up quite a bit for the curvy bits. No stopping necessary to do this. Dirt mode adds maybe an inch of lift, and you can feel it make this change while sitting still.
    Because we were two-up, I had to be more careful about balance at a stop than I would otherwise. The bike has hill-hold that’s available while the kickstand is up. I was “meh” on this feature until we got stopped in traffic in a herd of Buffalo, and I wanted to take photos. It quickly became a favorite feature.
    Overall, we love the bike.

    Glad you enjoyed the Tiger 1200 :) That's what I have in the garage, but I have the Rally Pro version (the Explorer you rode has an almost 8 gallon tank, whereas the Rally Pro has a 5.3 gallon tank). I love mine, and consider it to be the best bike I've owned.

    This is equivalent to the BMW GSA…The road going version (GT Pro) of the Triumph has a 19” front wheel and is the true alternative to your own bike. If you get a chance, have a go on that too to get a fairer comparison 👍

    • @PokyPops
      @PokyPops ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was going to say the same thing. Sounds like the GT line is more up MotoJitsu's alley. Either the Pro or Explorer version if you want the bigger tank and range, plus the blind spot monitoring.

  • @larrylund1138
    @larrylund1138 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Good review looks like a fun bike. The GT Explorer looks like the better bike for you with the 19" in front. More street oriented but you can still put on dirt oriented tires if you wanted to do some dirt. My opinion for more dirt might be the 900. Still good on the road but lighter weight which is better for dirt. There's always a compromise isn't there.

    • @ernestoluzan
      @ernestoluzan ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree man. I was literally going to the dealer to make a decision on which color GSA to buy. They asked me if I ever test rode the new tiger. I took the tiger out, and will admit I was smiling the entire time. These are all subjective but here goes. First it feel like a motorcycle. The GSA is so refined that along with the sweet ride, you lose the feel of a motorcycle. Both bikes I tested had the quick shifter, tigers was so much smoother. I did test a GSA vs Tiger Rally Explorer, so the cornering leaning more towards the GSA in ability, but it wasn’t enough for me to disqualify the Tiger. The brakes were no comparison, the Tiger stops like it’s avoiding a hole in the earth! Lol. Lastly and probably most impressive… the sound. Holy hell! When you twist the throttle on the New Tiger, it’s extremely obvious that Triumph has a win in the roar department. The torque is there in all gears. I ride in 3rd or 4th at most in city. On the freeway, 5th is plenty high, 6th for maximum fuel economy. When I’m going 65-70mph, and need to over take a vehicle, I love to drop to 4th, twist the throttle and feel this bike fly! It takes no time at all to look down and see 90-100 mph. This is a badass machine .

    I like your review!! Although you kinda insinuated that its got the same power of the GS. Quite frankly, its got almost 20 horses over the BMW and you can definitely feel it. This makes it arguably better than the GS on the road.

    You keep comparing the Rally Pro to the GS. The more appropriate comparison (apples to apples) would be the GSA (which also has the 21" front tire and larger tank). Your GS would be comparable to Triumph's TIGER 1200 GT (smaller tank and front tire, cast wheels), or the GT Pro (confusing damn model names aren't they? I imagine you know all that by now. Enjoyed the ride with you! Had the 1200 Rally been "in-stock" when I was ready to buy, I might have gone for it. Instead, I'm riding a '22 GSA (40 Years configuration). I'm not sorry with my choice, at all.

    I STRONGLY DISAGREE . The bike is a dissapointment . I have taken it to transalpina and transfagarasan( 5000km-17 days) because my tiger 1200 2020 has so many serious problems regarding major oil leaks and after replacing engine it also has leaks dealer gave me a replacemet not to lose my trip . I have never ridden such a bike with that soulless engine character and bad gear shifting . The bike also whenever i pulled the cluch cut off power , engine died in the middle of the trip and i had to reignite it to contineu . that happened 2-3 times every week , Start ups after cold was a nightmare and i had to help with throttle , BUT MAN the vibrations , i didnt notice much till the last days because my shoulders were aching . It is a complete failute and triumph the last 5-6 years is making so bad motorcycles , really cheap components and no quality over them

      Come on dude. The 2020 Tiger 1200 is the LAST GEN version of the Tiger. That model hadn't been changed in years. They changed everything for the 2021-up Tigers
      This new Tiger 1200 is a completely different machine. New engine, new chassis, completely new bike. Much more reliable than the last Gen Tiger 1200.
      I know you had a bad experience with your last gen Tiger 1200, but do your homework before lumping this new Gen Tiger with yours. Not to mention, you're calling all of their bikes bad just because of your 1 experience. The rest of their motorcycles are fantastic and reliable.
      They ditched the 2012-2020 Tiger design for a reason

      @@NicePantsLance Choosing the tiger 1200 gen 3 was a matter of 2 factors, first that i liked it and it checked all the boxes for me and second was to buy a new machine being in the market for long so i can avoid these kind of malfunctions new models - facelift have .
      As i mentioned above i rode the gen 4 2022 model rally explorer for about 5000 km 2 up full luggage , that's why i can state my opinion . For me , i really like the gen 3 tiger it feels more stable and more engine characteristic than the current, but the major problems it has makes me not to pick either of them . Reliability is a huge factor and triumph constantly fails on that. Either you like it or not if you go through forums you will find out youself . Not only you risk of being stranded but it is really dangerous for you if your bike stalls with 3 luggage and a pillion in the middle of the road when you pull the clutch full in .
      For the record , i am not a bmw fan or any other brand , i am still currently searching for another bike but i am struggling a lot cause i really liked the bright side of gen 3 .

      @@aldvex8541 just to make a correction, in your initial comment, you said you had the bad experience with 2020 Tiger 1200 and NOT the 2022 Tiger 1200. Then in your reply to Lance you said it was model year 2022.
      So, which model year was your Tiger 1200: 2020 or 2022?

    Way to tall, way to much break dive, way too top heavy, cumbersome menu and designed to be a GSA! At $25K, GSA all day long. If you must have a Triumph, the 900 is all day long at a $7K saving.

    • @NicePantsLance

      There's brake dive, but yet it still brakes just as hard if not harder. The GS might have telelever, but the front end also feels disconnected with the road and slightly vague. The Tiger might be more top heavy, but it also tips into corners better and feels sportier in the twisties compared to the GS. The Tiger also has a better mid and high range, and makes gobs more power than the GS. Id argue that the quick shifter feels better on the Triumph compared to the BMW. The sound of the Tiger is arguably better than the GS as well.
      It basically boils down to what you're looking for in a motorcycle. The Tiger is the better performing machine if that's what your goal is. If performance isnt a deal breaker, and one is looking for a practical machine, then the GS might be better for that person.
