Looks like a fun track though i do always enjoy watching footage of the other areas you guys ride. Men after my own heart. Going out in the woods with your friends knowing full well that at some point you will wonder why you do this to yourself. Keep making vids Barry and, ill keep watching my friend.
Yeah I think if you ride regularly forcing yourself to stand as much as possible can help you build stamina but if you don't ride regularly and just want to last as long as possible when you finally do get out there or are in a competition setting then sitting when you can is more efficient.
Even for adventure rides I stand a lot when I don't really need to as it's part of my regular exercise workout. But if I was only a multi-day ride I'd be sitting as much as possible just to last the distance lol. Ditto for a gruelling enduro ride...
Ah, bad timing on the log video Barry. Last week I was crossing one that I've gone over a hundred times. This time the back wheel slid out (not unlike what Jeff did) and I headed straight into a tree. Broke my hand and bruised some ribs. Of course the silver lining is that I have some time to catch up on some video watching!!
Ouch! A bit of whiskey throttle as well then? I've had that happen occasionally with logs where it didn't quite go to plan... often enough that I'm now doing bigger logs the slow methodical way (just using the skidplate) to avoid surprises.
It was the abrupt change of direction that got me. The log was only about 8 inches in diameter and I usually just let the suspension deal with it. I had just clicked into 3rd and gassed it a bit too soon! Back to Cross Training Enduro school for me!
I have more of a GNCC woods style. But I stand for real obstacles and when it’s better to do so. But then it’s more of an open leg trials kind of stance I guess. Some of our guys stand always, some stand never. Everyone muddles along one way or another. 😂 I’ve noticed when weaving through the saplings that standing involves leaning the bike more from side to side to get through, and sitting involves more actual turning of the bars/wheel.
Good point on the riding between trees... some riders get really fundamentalist about when you should stand but as you say we all get by with whatever strategy we use!
@@crosstrainingenduro Yessir. Some people take it all way too serious. They are out there determined to be the next 48.5 year old hard enduro phenomenon and have no time for mere mortal “hobby” riders. I try to be supportive and say things like “It’s Ok. Just keep practicing, you’ll get better.” or “No matter how it goes out here, we like you for you, not how you ride.” I’m a real 5h1t sometimes. 😂
"unscheduled exploration away from the track"
hahaha. the best kind of exploration!
😁
Barry, as to the question of when to sit/stand, I just remember to stand for #1 and sit for #2! 😜 But then my riding is CRAPPY anyway.😂
😊
Great riding, editing and commentary as usual!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Will do, Ben 😁
Nice track! I'm sure the damp weather just adds to the excitement.
Especially angled logs 😗
That intro was awesome
Shaken not stirred 😁
I sit all the time and only stand when necessary. I'm not fit enough to do that the other way around. Lol!
im a lazyenduro rider too. i sit unless its impossible. not ideal, but meh id rather sit than not ride at all
Chris Birch agreed with me, stand when you need to
It ok to save energy
