It was fun watching Mudvayne get an MTV award for their single Dig. They were made-up like dead people who had all got shot in the head.
The look on the people's faces were priceless.

The masks originally were a huge fuck you to the music industry but slowly turned into how they felt during each record cycle

Like the opening of the song is chaotic, melodic and beautiful, but then you hit the first lyrics of "Undo these Chains My Friend", and it's also beautiful in a completely opposite way, peaceful and melodic as well. You are absolutely correct - if people actually would give it a listen and not have prejudice and fear, they would most likely appreciate the epicness. Most people dont actually listen and therefore all they hear is "Noise and screaming" . Metal is some of the most complex music there is but requires a musical soul to really appreciate.
