I can’t get over that people think it’s something special about a pastor listening to music. It’s 2021, and fear of music and artists are still alive. Very sad.
Fun fact the director of the video: clown- asked each member what they’re afraid of dying from. Chris Fehn (long nose) was afraid of crows. He must have been so freaked out
And when it came to clowns death he said that he would want it to be a mess for other people to clean up after himself. That's why he set himself on fire before hanging himself.
Also them killing themselves is a representation of them getting over the death of a band member and killing there old selves and becoming who they are now
A lot of people don’t take the time to dig into the lyrics to really understand the message or how it came about. If they did, it wouldn’t make them afraid, it would make them compassionate.
That’s sad that he didn’t give it a chance and to learn more about it. My pastor didn’t find God until he was 26 so I know he would love to learn more about this.
Of all the deaths shown, Mick's is the most poignant for me. He's well known for being the band member that takes his role in Slipknot the most seriously. His position in the band (#7) is important enough to him that he has it tattooed on his arm, and inlaid into his guitar fretboard. It's a part of who he is. The director of the video asked each band member which death scared them, and that's how each member was killed in the video. When Mick removes his mask, it tears his face off as well, because it's become part of his being. I think it's symbolic of his biggest fear: not being part of that brotherhood anymore. He'd rather die than lose his band.
As I get older and tired of elders and everyone in the church being so close minded to secular music, I LOVE this channel because they're open to it and respectful about it.

I agree. I love all of it for different reasons, but self titled and Iowa hit different. We Are Not Your Kind was is a great album as well, reminds me of their older stuff a bit.
I think the reason that most people like Iowa and self-titled more than the others is because they are more raw and pure. All of their music is very emotionally powerful and intense, but those two albums in particular express those emotions much more powerfully than the others. Just putting this out there, this is when they changed all their masks. So in this video, it show them killing their old selves/mask and wearingg the new mask while they were playing and singing the song.

From what I've read as well as what i percieve from it as well as the entire Grey Chapter album is moving on in life. You've grieved and mourned the loss but you have to let it go at some point or else it can consume you. I've lost alot of loved ones but none crippled me like the loss of my mom did. I had an unstable relationship with her and near the end it was almost non existent. She had alchohol and substance abbuse issues that i just couldn't deal with anymore. Before she died, my last words to her were not kind. Up until a couple of years ago, there were years of anger, guilt, pain, and confusion that i had refused to confront. If you don't bring those emotions out and confront them and lay them to rest, they can begin to alter your personality and your very being. Life is too short to be carrying such a burden.
Rob I can't tell you how much you've helped to overcome the trauma and blame I put on the church as a whole, still don't think I could walk back into one just yet but your a good man.

Nero Forte, it's got a great beat, lyrics, rhythm, it's great all around. And I absolutely love the meaning behind the actual song. I'd like to see/hear your interpretation of it.
The ones that died are wearing the previous mask (at the time) with white jumpsuits. The ones performing are wearing the, at the time, current mask and blue jumpsuits. Linking to the Phycosocial video where they burned the heads from a previous video.
Ive been a fan since high school. This song is the only one I still listen to now that Im older. It helped me through some difficult times after an abusive relationship. I really had to look into myself to get past it. Devil in I will stay in my rotation always. The video is a bit much but the lyrics and message are what I focus on.
I hate how no one shows love to slipknot because of their music genre they are seriously so talented. Don’t get me wrong,I love god I believe in Him,but I am and will always be one of the biggest metal heads.
In the video, they were killing off the old versions of themselves from the previous album. (Corey is sitting at the table wearing the "All Hope is Gone" mask) The two members brought in with wheelchairs and stabbed were the new band members. Welcoming them to the family I guess lol
I actually found out about this song with my older sister Meghan. She's no longer here, but we were driving around listening to our favorite hometown radio station. This song came on, we pulled over and were like us that Corey Taylors voice. And that's how I learned about the new album at the time. It will always be special to me because of that.
Always love watching your reactions particularly when it's from my favourite band! Take care (ps the 3rd reaction was unsainted Rob, you were right) This is from Corey Taylor: Corey Taylor explained the song's meaning to The Pulse of Radio: "'The Devil In I' is really about the war inside yourself," he said. "Trying not to give into defeatism, trying not to give into negativity, trying not to give up basically. It's a struggle. It's one of the hardest things you can do, is to give into that side of yourself." And that you can have fun. Crahan also explained that the song was about "finding past devils, past things, becoming one with it, and doing away with it.".. I also read it was about shedding their former selves and the birth of a new beginning hence why their older masks and costumes were being killed off in wake of the birth of their new selves. So you were pretty spot on with you analysis Rob! Great stuff. I'm not a religious man but I really enjoy hearing your analysis on songs afterwards, you have a great understanding about psychology, all the teirs of human emotion and thanks to your channel I've been able to see the correlation between verses from the bible and almost every emotion people can go through and I can completely see how reading the bible would help people find themselves and heal. I never thought I would find such an interest in this but you're so well grounded between your relation with your beliefs and understanding of people it's hard not to appreciate and enjoy your work. Thanks again.
You guys deserve a lot more viewers. I really appreciate the structure with thoughts and analysis put into every song, it makes for very entertaining content. Best reaction channel I've come across. Hoping to see more metal down the line from you two boys. And since you are big on the biblical themes, I have a suggestion for you that I believe you will enjoy. I will not write too much here, but this song has A LOT of meat on its bones for you to pick at and analyze both in terms of its lyrics and musical composition. Please consider: Ne Obliviscaris - The Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope. (Some prior research about the song is highly recomended). Greetings from a norwegian heathen. Keep it up.
To truly understand what is going on you must listen to the entirety of this album start to finish. The album was dedicated to the former bassist Paul Gray who overdosed. This album got me through the hardest time of my life. It is all about the grieving process and it helped me get passed the death of my grandfather who was more like a father to me than my own father. This album is a 10/10 recommendation for someone who has lost someone.
Backstory to the music video. The deaths are how each one actually fears to die.. so the crows the guy actually is terrified of birds, the guitar guy (skull scene) fears being buried alive. The guy eating himself fears mentally breaking down.. etc. The guys they stab to death were new to the band so they chose murder.
My favorites personally are sulfur, psychosocial, duality, and the devil in I besides some of their old ones that were really good such as snuff and those are personally my favorite ones
This song was also the first single to go out after loosing their former bassist and friend, all the deads in tbe video are there masks from the previous album. So it marks the passage from hard past to new future while fighting with your inner demons.
This one is from a time where the band was mourning for their bassist who had died and that is exactly what the song is about. Glad you took the time to really speak on it rather than just freaking out at the imagery, tho I expect that from you guys at this point. The video is an expression of anger against the injustice of losing a friend, combined with depression and feelings of self harm......cranked up to 11 for effect of course. It's supposed to be repulsive. Each band member is confronting a personal fear they have, birds, fire, dogs......ect. The entire package is a pure expression of grief and injustice, it really resonates with me because of it. The Freudian bit is part of it, but so is his survivior's guilt, IMO, his inability to help his friend, who was by all accounts the glue that held the band together. I should point out, Paul, the bassist, died of a drug overdose, if that helps contextualize the "turned your backs on everyone" line. Here he had his best friend, the glue of the band, going down the path of addiction and causing the band to all go into turmoil.
Great reaction video! Strong song..had no idea how graphic it would be. I get the reference to facing phobias and the dark side. Appreciate the Biblical lens. I dare you to dive into Behemoth. It is the antithesis to the Biblical view.
I'm not your devil anymore. Letting go. Catching on, gents. great music. Great react. Im not a religious person but I respect your faith. Peace to you both.
As someone who suffers from repressed childhood trauma, PTSD, depression, and anxiety it all VERY much impacts you and the point of unpacking it all is to identify why you feel certain ways in reaction to other seemingly normal things (like someone wanting to help you but you lash out instead of accepting help due to learned behavior to be self sufficient), or why you have toxic behavior or have intrusive thoughts or can't control certain impulses. Once you have a clear picture of where it comes from you can learn healthy coping mechanisms and rebuild how your brain thinks. If these things go on for a long time, especially during adolescence, it impacts the development of your brain. Obviously we're all unique and react and handle these things differently due to our genetic makeup and specific experiences etc.
I appreciate this. I love anyone who is willing to make an effort to bridge a divide, of any kind, between people. Bless y'all 🙏 I'm a big fan of Slipknot and other (deep dark heavy) metal, by the way. Aiming to embrace all facets of humanity.
Having been a big Slipknot fan (my picture is from them actully) and I was pretty surirpsed by the content in this music video when I saw it for the first time and now I love it, one thing I really liked about it was that they introduced the new drummer and bassist.
I've used this scripture so many times. I'm so glad it can be brought up in a slipknot video. I'm not by any means as close as I need to be to the Lord, and I try to be as knowledgeable as I can of the Bible. I've been back and forth with my relationship with God, and I do believe, bit I don't wanna feel like a hypocrite because I don't live every day like I should. And you so perfectly brought this up towards the end of the video. THANK YOU.
Slipknot is absolutely my favorite band of all time no questions asked.. one of my favorite songs by them is called the blister exists. Has good drumming in it also
there are more songs corey has written about his relationships, some for stone sour (his other band), others for slipknot. i recommend stone sour, its more a heavier rock style than metal style, the older stone sour songs are the better ones, like "bother", "hesitate" and "through glass"

This has to be one of the greatest Metal songs of all time! This song has incredible meaning!
9:20 I’m a huge slipknot fan. Even if it’s not that heavy, it’s still probably my 3rd favorite song from them. Def top 5
Rob I can't tell you how much you've helped to overcome the trauma and blame I put on the church as a whole, still don't think I could walk back into one just yet but your a good man.
I think he’s right on in his assessment. I like this song. So much talent.
I can't believe it has been 2 years I think it was just a week or two after yall uploaded the all out life video that I discovered yall and I've been here ever since, I love the content I love yall and I know that even if I never meet yall on this earth, that I will know yall in Heaven with the Father. Love yah, my Brothers! Keep up the great work!
(Corey is sitting at the table wearing the "All Hope is Gone" mask)
The two members brought in with wheelchairs and stabbed were the new band members.
This song helped me alot when I was facing my own demons! Grateful!
I feel like I just got the greatest therapy session for free. When pastor started to unpack his thoughts on this song, that was truth.
Always love watching your reactions particularly when it's from my favourite band! Take care (ps the 3rd reaction was unsainted Rob, you were right)
This is from Corey Taylor: Corey Taylor explained the song's meaning to The Pulse of Radio: "'The Devil In I' is really about the war inside yourself," he said.
If your wondering when this was made this was a 2016 album I think is when the single came out but it was in the gray chapter and that was in 3014
You guys deserve a lot more viewers.
Keep it up.
That is for the kind words and the suggestions. ❤️🙏
Alot of the members faced their worst fears in this video. The birds, the dog attack, the fire at the end. There's a video on it
Heeeey guys, you should consider doing a song of as i lay dying (my own grave)! One of the best metal core bands ever
SHAWN CLOWN- "If you are not shocked or disturbed in anyway Slipknot has not done their job."
you pretty much hit it spot on, that was the meaning according to the band
To truly understand what is going on you must listen to the entirety of this album start to finish. The album was dedicated to the former bassist Paul Gray who overdosed. This album got me through the hardest time of my life. It is all about the grieving process and it helped me get passed the death of my grandfather who was more like a father to me than my own father. This album is a 10/10 recommendation for someone who has lost someone.
Allegaeon “Gray Matter Mechanics “
Allegaeon “Proponent for Sentience III “
Backstory to the music video. The deaths are how each one actually fears to die.. so the crows the guy actually is terrified of birds, the guitar guy (skull scene) fears being buried alive. The guy eating himself fears mentally breaking down.. etc.
The guys they stab to death were new to the band so they chose murder.
My favorites personally are sulfur, psychosocial, duality, and the devil in I besides some of their old ones that were really good such as snuff and those are personally my favorite ones
Cool. For me, my favorites by them are “Before I Forget,” “Duality,” “Sic,” “Psychological,” “The Devil In I,” “My Plague,” and “Wait and Bleed.”
This song was also the first single to go out after loosing their former bassist and friend, all the deads in tbe video are there masks from the previous album. So it marks the passage from hard past to new future while fighting with your inner demons.
What I really want to know is, if and when Guage is dropping that single?
You guys r just amazing. Happy belated birthday gauge! Peace from Canada!
Do ‘agony’ or ‘demolished’ by slaughter to prevail!! I need to see y’all react to Alex Terrible 😂
It is the antithesis to the Biblical view.
a band member did mention the way they were dying indeed was a phobia of each member
Heyyy hope y'all are doing great! Now I'm going to listen and then comment again. Oh yeah it's my birthday so great "gift!"
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
@@roberthoughton7127 thank you sir! It's the 15th anniversary of my 21st birthday. 😅
It was my brothers birthday two days ago and my birthday yesterday! His 36th and my 32nd! Happy birthday!
Happy birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 🎈 🎁 🎊
@@weaver909 happy birthday to y'all!
I'm not your devil anymore. Letting go. Catching on, gents. great music. Great react. Im not a religious person but I respect your faith. Peace to you both.
Also check out "Demolisher" by Slaughter to Prevail
That song is banana’s. I love it
I was just about to comment about that song, glad someone agrees
@@alexanderbrewer4201 yeah, I like the Kardavox reaction to it. He just walks away lol
Alex has one of a kind voice that's forsure
@@jayzisa he's the god of sounding like the devil lol
Rob's expression in this one is priceless , haha
YES!!! Another song I loved that I genuinely want to hear yous guy's input on.
Did not expect to be watching a pastor react to slipknot while I take a massive coffee dump
Christ is my King my Saviour ❤. Lots of love to good metal music😊
React to Say you'll haunt me by Stone Sour
Thats such a good song..
Guys, you did unsainted! Ok this video I’ve waited for as I think this song has a good message behind it, thanks!
I would love to see you guys react to his therapy session!
I appreciate this. I love anyone who is willing to make an effort to bridge a divide, of any kind, between people. Bless y'all 🙏 I'm a big fan of Slipknot and other (deep dark heavy) metal, by the way. Aiming to embrace all facets of humanity.
Check out Behemoth “Ora Pro Nobus Lucifer” or “Bartzabel”.
That moment when he said "Gee Whiz" 😂😂😂 Love these guys!
Honestly as a non Christian I actually kinda like this video, found it quite interesting
Having been a big Slipknot fan (my picture is from them actully) and I was pretty surirpsed by the content in this music video when I saw it for the first time and now I love it, one thing I really liked about it was that they introduced the new drummer and bassist.
I think it’d be really interesting to see you guys react to some Behemoth.
THANK YOU.
Dogs tail was up, so it's play fighting or the dog's a psychopath.
Slipknot is absolutely my favorite band of all time no questions asked.. one of my favorite songs by them is called the blister exists. Has good drumming in it also
"are they in drop B or something?" Close; drop A tuning.
there are more songs corey has written about his relationships, some for stone sour (his other band), others for slipknot. i recommend stone sour, its more a heavier rock style than metal style, the older stone sour songs are the better ones, like "bother", "hesitate" and "through glass"
Y'all should react to "A conversation with God" by the band King810. It'll be interesting to see you break down the words by David Gunn
Oh yeah that would be awesome to watch
That's a local band surprised to see that recommended here.
@@thepassionateginger6236 I saw them when they toured with Slipknot and Korn back in 2015. Instantly dug their sound. I think they're one of the most interesting bands out there
Y'all are gems. Kudos to you on taking on pieces of culture that many would not be willing to do.
I recommend viewing “Heresy” by Nine Inch Nails
Goodbye would a nice song to react to. It's very calm in comparison, but very emotional as well. It's essentially a parting song to Paul Gray, their original bassist that had passed away long ago. It's beautiful song in its own way.
Can you do a react to "Popular Monster by Falling in Reverse"
I was raised in the standard Christian Faith. I became an Athirst when I was 16.
I love metal because the lyrics and emotion.
It's fun watching you react to these types of videos with little context.
This video was about the emotions dealt with because of a death in the band....
I would like to commend you for getting out of your comfort zone and trying to experience different things.
I would love to have a conversation with you sometime.
I have a feeling it would be fun, even though we won't agree theologically.
