    Another advantage for Jeremy's Razors is that the cartridges don't clog up as easily as my old Harry's razor used to do.

    • @BryantHayward67
      @BryantHayward67 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, the Harry's cartridges clog up easily. I always shave in the shower with hot water (never use other product), and have to use the stream on the shower head to clean out the blades on every pass.

    • @TehShadowDeath
      @TehShadowDeath ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BryantHayward67 Same, I have to use the "massage" stream to blast my beard hair out of it and that's shaving every other day. :/
      I've also noticed that in recent months Harry's doesn't seem to get as close as it used to. I'm probably going to go back to single blade or double edge soon.

      My story's very similar to yours. Though, we don't have Harry's products in Australia, so for a little while after being put off Gilette, I was using Shick cartridges I think. But about a year and half ago, bought my first DE razor (just a cheap, unbranded thing I stumbled across one day) and have been blown away at just how much of a nicer shave they give. Less irritation, and a closer shave, less waste, and far less spend on blades. It really makes me wonder, how we got to a point in society, that we thought that the cheap, disposable, expensive, and painful cartridge razors were better than the classic double edge?

    I’ve seen the Jeremy’s razor ad and thought it was great ad but sorry I much prefer a DE. I used to use a DSC cartridge and saw a review of a Dorco razor and it looked exactly the same as my DSC. I love how with a DE it just mows through a weeks work of thick stubble like nothing. The rivalry reminds me of the Ferrari Lamborghini rivalry. Lamborghini makes tractors and suggested an improvement for a part of Ferrari cars. Ferrari told him to pound sand and Lamborghini basically said I’ll show you and started producing cars.

    Yeah, neither of those products looked particularly enticing. Plus 50-60 bucks! You could get a great DE starter kit with that. A merkur razor (and many others), shaving brush and soap. Im just sorry it took the lockdown to turn me on to de shaving. Its gone from a chore that i would absentmindedly do in the shower to an activity I actually enjoy. It takes a while for your face to get used to it and to learn the technique and you will have the odd nick but its such a pleasant ritual. Im 50 this year, i must put some hints in for a Rex (as a present) with the missus.

      It took some good advertising from Supply Razor Co. for me to look into an alternate shaving method because cartridges were making my skin itch so bad with razorburn and in-grown hairs for years and years, and I didn't know there was an alternative. I hated shaving so much, but after switching to single-edge and then DE shaving...I have absolutely fallen in love with this hobby and have gotten so much over the past few months since I started earlier this year. Better yet, I feel so much better and my face doesn't nearly itch or irritate me as much.

    I switched to Harry's after the Gillette BS commercial. However, I noticed that the Harry's razors don't seem as sharp and don't last as long. I did try a Dorco's set before Harry's and the blades do seem sharper and last longer. Just wasn't fond of the bigger razor head on the Dorco. I prefer smaller cartridges because they are easier to sculp facial hair. I may try Jeremy's after this video because of Harry's going woke. Lol. Thanks for the video.

    I’d like to see a second test with these razors using the same pre-shave preparation on both sides. That way, you’re just comparing razors and not software. I did see the Jeremy’s video, funny to say the least. I’m DE all the way, but the vast majority of men use a cartridge. The cartridge requires almost no skill, it’s easy, fast, and difficult to nick oneself.

    I've never double-edge shaved, always been a cartride guy. So, I can't compare it to that. I have also never used Harry's (I was using Gillette, for crying out loud). But I went to Jeremy's after learning of Harry's woke stance. I've never had a better shave than that I get with Jeremy's. So, I'm sticking with it. I've got some pretty stiff wiskers, but I get a baby's bottom smooth, face and neck. Not in one downhill swipe. You have to go back uphill against the grain, rinsing the blades thoroughly as you go. Fortunately I don't have an ingrown hair probelm.

      I highly recommend getting a good double edge razor. I don't know anything about the Rex brand so I can't comment on that brand. I also use a barber style straight razor that uses double edge blades if I go a few days without shaving. I switched several years ago because of cost savings and not because of political BS. I also use a brush, cake of soap, and mug to lather up because I saw no reason to buy cans of shaving creme. I will never go back.

      I would say for the safety razor (double edge razor) to me is the best shave I ever gotten the cartage razor can be close but not entirely comfortable even shaving with a disposable one or two blade razor to be is better than the other carriage razor by comfort and with the safety razor I shave a lot of money buying the blades for it but 50 blades for the safety razor for 10 dollars and don’t have to buy more for a year than spending 30 to 20 dollars on refills of cartage razor so I go by safety razor I recommend to try it and try wet shaving to because a shaving cream in a can cause more razor burn than it does with a razor which is my opinion to try safety razor if not stay with cartage razor.

    To quote Henry Kissinger, "it's a shame they can't both lose". I'm soooo sick of companies insisting that using their products must necessarily become political. Harry's stance, particularly after Gillette going woke, is ridiculous. After all, Harry's got its start by advertising all over the place, right and left. But Jeremy's Razors are just playing the same stupid game now being the anti-woke. The whole reason I bought my first DE, and then moved to a straight razor, was to avoid the politics. That and to try to use less throwaway and disposable plastics and metals.

    I got the "founders" kit from Jeremy's when they announced, mainly because I wanted to support the Daily Wire. Up until then I used a Gillette Fusion on a handle from "Art of Shaving" along with the Art of Shaving cream with a AOS brush to apply. A few observations on the Jeremy's.
    1. After about 2 months the finish on the handle flaked of almost completely, It started to pull up around the rubber grip and I was able to just use my thumb to rub the rest off. Pretty sketchy.
    2. The plastic on that holds the blades is too thick, because of this it's more difficult to tell when you are getting close to any facial hair or sideburns, so it's harder to line yourself up. Apparently they added a single blade on the back of the cartridge to help this, but I don't have any of those blades yet.
    3. Jeremy's needs to add color to their lube strip, the white strip does a horrible job of letting you know when it's time to change blades.
    4. Jeremy's shave cream don't lather anywhere near enough. I emptied the tube into a tub so I could properly use my beard brush, and it still sucked.
    The cartridge and handle are serviceable enough, but nothing to write home about.

    I left Harry's... and I'm not going back. Over 4 decades ago I started with electric shavers and then cartridge blades... that's all I ever knew. The high cost of Gillette sent me to DSC and then to Harry's. The whole time, it was a mediocre shave and no fun. Harry's 'remarks' reminded me that I can choose who I do business with. I'm just so tired of politics being infused into every aspect of my life. So... after finishing my supply of Harry's cartridges I looked elsewhere. And DE shaving it was! Matt's videos and enthusiasm were instrumental in helping me decide to try DE shaving! Wow... how come it took me so long to get here! DE shaving has made a once mundane task fun and pleasurable! I'll never go back to cartridge shaving and Harry's again! Oh... and not only is DE shaving better, it's cheaper and more eco-friendly! Thanks Harry's for 'forcing' me towards DE shaving! And thanks Matt for all your great videos!

    I too switched from Harry's to Jeremy's due to all the woke crap. I've gone through 3 blades now so I think I can do a decent eval. My experience is the Jeremy's shaves closer with fewer strokes. I like the Jeremy's shave better. I don't have heavy whiskers, probably about average. I'm not the beard growing type as the density isn't good enough.. Plus I have a baby face... There is however a "but". The Jeremy's handle sucks. I'm a shower shaver, when the handle gets wet, it's is almost impossible to hold on to. Not sure who the designer was but they obviously didn't try to use the prototype or production model when their hands were wet. The Jeremy's blade is interesting, it is a 6 blade but they are grouped in pairs so it's three groups of two with a slightly wider spacing between the pairs. The Harry's are evenly spaced. That uneven spacing on the Jeremy's is probably what caused a bit more pulling for me than the Harry's. However as mentioned it did shave closer. If the handle wasn't so slippery on the Jerry's I'd choose it over the Harry's regardless of the woke BS.

    Great video! I was curious about the difference between Jeremy's and Harry's because I purchased Jeremy's. I purchased because I wanted to support their cause. It did shift me from my old reliable Norelco electric razor back to a blade shave, which I had been thinking about doing for a while anyway. Supporting Jeremy's Razor did remind me of how long it's been since I've had a decent shave, having used the electric for so many years. When I first shaved with Jeremy's I was disappointed that it wasn't more comfortable and didn't seem like a very "sharp" blade. I actually dusted off my old Mach 3 (yes, that's how long I have been using the Norelco) and compared it to Jeremy's and the Mach 3 was closer and more comfortable. Although I am willing to support a good cause and buy Jeremy's, I will likely not continue to, but for a different reason than you might think. In this video you mentioned Rex....so I checked it out, and now I've been introduced to the double edge razor. I should say re-introduced because I remember playing with my dad's when I was a kid. I've wateched a number of your videos and I'm completely sold on your product. I love quality, and I love Made in the USA. I will be buying the Ambassador, polished. I just need to decide if I want the XL or standard handle. I'm also commenting because I hope to get a shirt (so shameless, I know). Seriously, I completely appreciate your work to produce a quality product. I appreciate the engineering and cost of materials it takes to make something of quality that will last. I'm always willing to pay more for that.
