  • Our 2009 Child of Courage winner Jake Peach was diagnosed with leukaemia on Mother's Day in 2008. After a month in a coma and having to learn to walk again, he was determined to help other young cancer patients.
While still bedridden, Jake made a video diary of his treatment, which is now used by Great Ormond Street Hospital to guide other young cancer patients. Jake, who is now in remission, has already raised £130,000 and helped GOSH win a £500,000 sponsorship with Arsenal FC.
At our awards he became a star overnight when he told millions of TV viewers how he was determined to pay back the nurses and doctors who had saved his life. And just 10 months later he made good on his promise by raising close to £1million to purchase vital equipment for the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London.
Watch the amazing moment that Take That's Gary Barlow surprised him with the news that he had won a Pride of Britain Award. You'll need tissues!
Then join him on stage where he receives a standing ovation and is given his award by Vernon Kay and Tess Daly alongside a signed England shirt!
Jake is certainly one in a million!
