I have a niece with sickle cell and she has battled with pain that one can not even imagine. My niece just graduated as a Dr. against all odds!! It is such a privilege to watch Dame Elizabeth and the many lives she has helped.

We'd known each other since we were in our late teens, early twenties. I was by her bedside when she took her last breath. Her parents were told she would not live to be 10. She lived to be 57!*
