Neural should just pay Pete to make presets and put them on this thing. Partnering with artists to capture sounds, favorite pedals etc. Since they aren't touring, I'm sure we could support some awesome musicians, and create more options for the users.
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anyone know a method to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow lost the password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me
Any of your favorite artist that released an IR of their setup or Amp etc is exactly that! It's pretty cool. You can even share the stuff you setup w other people and then they can tweak it and send it back etc. It's an amazing time to be into music!
I'm impressed - Pete's solo, not least - just fantastic - I really think the QC does a terrific job - this is the future, NeuralDSP is showing the way. And they are just beginning - after a year with updates and fine tuning, there will be no looking back.
One thing I love about Pete's intro/outro music is that you can see him enjoying playing and getting the most of his guitar and gear that fits perfectly in the musical moment. It doesn't always have to be shredding to 11 to be fun. Guitar (or any instrument) can be enjoyable when you know you're in "the pocket" and using your gear to the highest level that moment calls for. Coming from a classically trained wind instrument background and specializing in a non-melodic (i.e., not a lead) instrument, the joy of knowing you're playing the snot out of the part you're assigned is just can be just as much fun as playing the part people walk away from and remember.
18:59 I remember listening to cds at stores before buying them, and there was always THAT moment when you heard something and you thought ok I’ll buy this record.
You really should put all these demo pieces into a playlist with "sleeve notes" saying what we're listening to. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd buy it and spend many many happy hours simultaneously geeking and rocking out.
What a time to be a guitar player, I can remember when plugging straight into the amp was the option for most. I thought I was cool when I got a EHX Electric Mistress Flanger to go with my MXR Distortion+. As always Pete, great tones and great playing, thanks for what you do!
Hey Pete, I have a QC on pre-order (mostly thanks to your initial video), would it be possible for you to share some of your captures as soon as the QC is more publicly available? I'd very much appreciate it :) Cheers
Nice work there Pete - showing us all how cool this new exciting piece of gear is what it can do with not to much difficulty - user friendly so it seems -
Did you upload you captures to share on the Quad Cortex App? Edit: Looks like someone created a PeteThorn profile there and posted a “High Gain José “ preset.. I doubt that is you.
Have not watching gear demos of you lately - still you are so shockingly spot on with tone, musicality and expertise with value, that I'm again hit by it. Thx, man! Be well and have great times!
Damn! what a great video (as usual), Pete! I really appreciate how you go the extra length to show us not only how this technology works but how we can apply it. However, I gotta say, those first few chords where you were demonstrating the mics/mic placement on the speaker cab. Man what a sound - had me grinning. Total badass tuneage at the end too - needs to be on your next album :)
Wow, way to go Pete!!! You’re truly showing some of the great features & tones in the QC device. Thanks for doing these videos while we wait for it’s release date. Peace! X-Mann 👊🏼❌🤟🏼
On the first comparison the captured tone sounds fuller than the original tone (i mean... here on YT). OMG... you are an hell of tone artist and you know where you wanto go at the end... so... the final tone with all your magic... is killer!
Everytime i see your vids(keep them coming 😆) on this unit i get more and more happy and excited i ordered it. One of the hardest waits for new gear ive ever experienced. And its another two or three months waiting. Seems very worth it though.
I like that your earlier video had you giddy about "the feel". Surely most of us have played through many amps and some modeling stuff, enough to know the difference in feel/tones. But they have come a long way since back in 2000. The airy feel of an amp pushing, as opposed to a component/digital based unit might be noticeable, but they are infinitely tweakable, and I have A/B'd an old Line6 PodPRO [red 2001 one] to my Marshall/Egnater/Bogner amps and made modeled presets by ear. The snobbiest of tube snobs, no one can tell the difference. They comment on how great the amps sound, I say nothing to them.
I wish there were five or ten like buttons for this video! This is really great! Much better than many likes I pressed before! Amazing entertainment, knowledge and learning
Nice work...again...Pete! Killin' it man. I wish I could write as quickly (yet still being creative with quality) as you do. But, out here, we all do! Carry on!
The Quad Cortex is incredible. Thank you for sharing this stellar video, unique excellent tonality from combining the 57 & 421 recording mikes. Btw, EBTECH Hum Eliminator. Very cool device. As always...great guitar playing, Pete. Cheers.
Great video and playing! I don't watch a lot of Pete's videos but I pretty much know his playing and I must say that in the last part of this video I have the impression he really worked more and improved on his solo chops!
Hey Pete, what a awesome job demoing this. But the best part by far was the incredible track!! I had a decent set of cans on and just sat and enjoyed this a number of times. Incredible playing and and tones! Thanks for taking the time to make and post this. Have a great day sir!
Nice job with the comparison Pete. That should be the blueprint for all comparisons. Even the riffs except maybe add some single note strumming through a chord so you can hear the string definition that digital stuff has a hard time with. Anyway great video. Thanks
Is there a difference between using the mix control in the reverb vs A/B splitting the dry and verb (mix @ 100%) and blending in the reverb? Seems like that’s the same thing to me. 🤷🏻♂️
Interesting how you don’t use the rotary knobs on the footswitches when adjusting parameters on your effects etc. Just an observation. Also...not heard of the “ground loop” issue before with the QC. Is this a real thing inherent to the QC only? And what happens if you don’t isolate the buzz and just go ahead and capture the sound anyway? Is the hum then present in the capture? Thx! Great video btw.👍🏼👍🏼
Great vid Pete. As always. Re the need for a hum-buster: when capturing, have you tried using a cable with TRS connected to the QC capture output, and TS to the amp? This is the same fiddle as used for removing ground loops from the QC send.
The capture sounds different, no doubt about it... It sounds like its more mix ready, less fizz and kinda compressed. Like someone put a high cut and a compressor of some kind in lack of a better explanation. Is it the same like amp? No. Is it a great sound and perfectly useable in every situation? Absolutely. So, buying this instead of Kemper, Axe FX or Helix? It has both modeling and profiling/capturing, its super convenient form factor, its super easy to navigate and edit and it has 8 footswitches... Probably yes. Should u sell the unit that u have thats reliable, that u filled with IRs, profiles and made patches that YOU like that works for YOU? Probably not. Great work as usual Pete, you are a gold standard for demos today. Cheers
Awesome vid as always! I really appreciate how you finesse such great tones...btw I fixed my 4 wire hum issue by cutting the shield connection on one of the send/return cables, just on one end of the return cable. no more hum!

The QC is cool and powerful, and all that. But I'm in love with the 72 50W JMP!! :) Killer amp, plexi tone and feel, that's what I like! Awesome video as always, super Pete - kudos!
Seeing a lot of great videos on this. I have seen you can run multiple instrument on one unit. I would be interested in hearing what would happen if you had an electric guitar with a Piezo pickup, Like the John Pettrucci Majesty or the Prs Se piezo guitar or something similar/. Run the electric and Piezo to different inputs with different effect chains. I'd also like to hear what the effects that can be controlled by the expression pedals sound like.
I'm about as old school as they come, but once in a great while I check out some new gear tech. But damn bro, that piece you put together at the end was total killer rad badassery at it's finest! Rite on & rock on! \m/
Tremendously informative and fun Pete!!! As always. I'm sold on the Quad Cortex...can I borrow all of your amps to capture them :) I'd also love to hear a comparison between the tones you captured vs stock amps in the unit (do the stock sounds sound great/usable without having to capture great sounding amps that not all of us have)! Thanks
in a blind test I wouldn't be able to tell which is which...but still there is a hearable difference between the two in terms of tone... this means that the tone on the QC is convincing enough and does its job like many other modelers nowadays.. .I don't care so much if QC has a little less highs in the EQ...I may add them in post if I need to IMO the real questions here are: how is your playing feel with the QC compared to the real amp expecially in mid-gain tones and melodic bluesy playing ? how do QC captures react to EQ tweaks and severe gain adjustements?

When Pete says “I like that”... most cower in humility
No, there’s not enough space inside. It needs to be at least... 10 times as big to fit a JMP 50 inside.
What is this, a JMP 50 for ANTS?!
Exactly lol my closet wont even fit my super lead idk how hes gonna fit it in that little metal box
