Nice - I'm still liking my fix; one important thing.. When you see update pop-ups in the future, don't automatically do them. Goto the website and check for issues with you hardware years and software version. Only upgrade if you've checked for issues.
I am getting this machine today, and for my purposes, Ventura works just fine, but I wanted to ask: does Sonoma work on this machine with Opencore Legacy Patcher if it has the RX 580 8GB video card? I am moving from a 2012 Mac Pro 5,1 that I previously ran an RX 580 in, and I could not go past Monterey in it with Opencore. That card was only compatible with Monterey and below, while users were able to update the machine to Sonoma with the RX 570 and RX 590. Obviously, this machine supports Ventura first party from Apple even with this card in it, and I believe the drivers for this variant are different as the card is made specially for Apple computers, and not by Sapphire for Windows computers, but I haven't seen any screenshots of anybody accomplishing this on an iMac 18,3 (2017 Retina 5K 27 inch) with the RX 580 in it. Based on what you know, will this work? Thanks for the help!
So, TBH... it will work, but sometimes issues arrive. One time there was an opencore update and I did it, and it broke my boot process - I recovered, but point being... if you don't NEED the newer OS I'd just stick with the Apple-supported version. However, if tinkering is your thing, it will work and you can recover from any issues - or, bypass issues by not just blindly updating Opencore Legacy...
hi, can you help me? , in the first reboot, when te white bar is charging, the install fail, the message is ''an error occurred preparing the update'' i use open core in a SSD 480gb with a usb adapter imac a1312
New video coming about how it runs, but it boots a TAD slower than before - my microphone app complains at boot, BUT after it settles down performance is basically on par with the old OS. I'll show all these issues in the next video; I THINK I'm going to stay on Sonoma... I'd suggest that if you have other Apple devices, go for it - if not, meh...
hi it shows my installer is broken, macos sonoma, or ventura every installer is showing broken, macbook pro mid 2012, which date should i choose? i saw the dates fixing the issue of the installer, can anyone tell me me the dates? thank you
I'll have to preface that I'm ONLY testing on a 2017 iMac - so I don't have information on machines below that, however - have you checked the website FAQ? they have detailed information about every Mac and issues that might be present with their software..... also, I'm doing another video that is ONLY the steps to use legacy patcher and how to complete the OS upgrade - make sure you watch for it.... I'd love to help, but don't want to give you wrong information!!!
@@techheart6090 yes thank you, my mac is compatible and have seen others doing it, everything proceeds well except when i go to the efi boot installer, and then try to install could it be the memory stick causing the issue, i had a very old flash drive 32 gb, could it be the the installer is causing the issue?
Thank you TechHeart! Clear and great video. The upgrade is worked beautifully on my 2017 27" iMac.

@@techheart6090 Will do. Thanks again.
Thank you!
You're welcome! I've been using Sonoma on a 2017 iMac for a couple months now and mostly is perfect!

Came for the video, stayed for the attitude. Great video!
Awesome, thanks so much for giving me a chance!!!
Can this method be applied onthe Trashcan Mac-Pro?
Yes; on the open core website you'll find a complete list of supported devices.

sometimes the white bar does not advance
Sometimes waiting for a period of time you think is excessive might allow for advancement - if not, check back!!
I keep getting error message when I try to create installer onto usb drive.
I use Linux to burn the USB, but you should be able to use Mac no problem; I'll try to remember to post the terminal command in a reply tonight.
@@techheart6090 any update?
How long does it take for your 2017 27-inch iMac to boot Mac OS Sonoma?
