    10 year warranty is misleading -- 10y for parts only and 5 years for labor, which is more expensive than parts.

      @GG-kc6ie 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep there is so much that's misleading such as the compressor being 45% more efficient 😂
      The difference between the smart vs linear compressor thar LG uses in their same fridge is 348kwh vs 246kwh. The linear compressor costs 20% more and it might be worth the upfront cost if you keep your fridge for 10 years but it's certainly not 45% more efficient

    I was about to buy one of these but decided to do some research after our Samsung dishwasher fiasco. The next video suggestion after this is about a class action lawsuit involving these comoressors. Three to four years seems to be the actual lifespan of these.

    Had they just put the inverter drive on a traditional style compressor so it could speed up and slow down I think LG would have gotten most of the efficiency improvement and noise reduction the linear compressor provides while also keeping the high reliability of the traditional compressor.

      @hansgruber2509 the video claims the linear compressor is more efficient because it's speed can be controlled up and down, I'm saying they should have just used a traditional style compressor and made that speed up and slow down...this way it would have been more efficient, but also wouldn't break as easily.

  • @johnames6430
    @johnames6430 3 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    Did they test these at all before putting them in friges? Seems they miscalculated how long it would last since it runs 100% of the time. Maybe there is something to letting it just shut off like the traditional compressors that have been more reliable for idk 100yrs now?

    I bought my LG fridge with this linear compressor in April of 2017. It's now not working and I called 3 local service technicians and they ALL said that these are GARBAGE and none of them service this model now because of how difficult they are to service. They recommended eitehr Whirlpool Maytag or Samsung models over these. I had to call LG customer support and they did say that the compressor is still under warranty, and that they will send out a tech. So let's see what happens...

      These compressors suck. The design doesn't take into consideration lateral movement so they wear out seals prematurally.The compressors are undersized and move less volume of freon so they are digitally controlled to run constantly unlike a correctly sized conventional compressor.The only benefit is their noise levels are low they save more energy on paper.

    Total misrepresentation. If you factor in the cost to LG to repair 1000's of bad linear compressors out there after only 1-3 years, the gas spend to get repair people out to homes, the time wasted on the phone listening to "we are experiencing high call volume....", the gas spent to deliver replacement compressors to service providers all around the globe, the risk of Covid from every serviceman going from house to house, the wasted food, the carbon footprint of the torches they use to replace the compressors, I'd say that the linear compressor is an ecological disaster all on it's own.

      Scrolls are way too overpowered and overengineered to common sized household fridge, thus just conventional fridge compressor is good enough and except a starting winding, current relay and bimetallic overload strip, there is nothing fancy needed to run it.

    What a POS Korean product! I saw a 40 years old GE refrigerator in perfect working condition in a Chinese hospital in 1984, it was part of world war II relief left by US in 1945. Back then it was the real GE refrigerator, not today's Mexican or Chinese stuff.
    Now talking about the LG "linear compressor", mine just quit yesterday, 10 years 5 months since it was manufactured, 10 years 3 months since I bought it, you can't get parts from LG because you are not an " authorized" tech to repair their thing, you can't hire any licensed tech either, you have to pay their tech to put it in for you, the labor is more than the parts and about half the cost of the fridge when I bought it ($2180). This is the first time I saw a refrigerator compressor failure in my lifetime!
