How to check if a propane tank is empty and remove the brass valve.

  • A couple notes. There is no oxygen in a propane tank until the tank is breached by the valve being removed. As such there is no chance of propane inside the tank combusting until it is opened.
    If the tank has gas in it still when you press the brass ring it will come hissing out! At that point give it to your neighbour for a few weeks for his BBQ until it is completely empty.

    Always a good idea to check, they might feel like they are empty but can have more that you think in them.

    I have a couple of gas bottles in my scrap cave that I was planning to scrap out but I’m hoping to get a devil furnace soon so can hopefully refill and use for that instead.

      Half full propane tanks seem to be a plague everywhere. Just need more people who want to use them.
