Love these videos. Gets me anxious for the NC grouse season to start. Going out west with my Brittany is on my bucket list.
Having hunted behind Labs and a GSP, it’s funny. The Labs were always pretty aggravated when I missed. Being retrievers, I think they felt like I cheated them out of their fun. The GSP was always happy if he got to point birds and never seemed to care if I actually killed one. He retrieved well, but it wasn’t the important part for him.
The dogs I’ve had range from slightly annoyed to down right pissed! 😁

Outstanding Performance as always. By the end of your 3 months of hunting you and your pups are an automatic hunting team. No obnoxious yelling/whistling is a pleasure for the viewer. I’ve got another 2 weeks left to the falconry season. Same deal here, at this point in the season, everyone understands their expectations and rules. Carry on my friend! Safe hunting and traveling.

How often do you do training in the off season?
I run field trials so I mostly train for them. 1-4 times a week depending on what’s going on.
I notice you have a ShotKam, but you don’t post those videos. Why?
I have posted some but it doesn’t always capture the shots. It can be cumbersome with all my other gear.

Why are you nervous about having 2 dogs on point?
On young dogs, sometimes they'll get competitive and "steal" each other's points. If they start to crowd the birds trying to outdo each other they'll flush them while you're still well out of range. What you're looking for is what happens the second time, the second dog honors the point and backs, no pressure.
@@siegehammer63 I’ve never seen that with my young dogs but that makes a lot of sense
@@BowsandBirddogs especially young dogs that have never worked together before, it's one of those things guys are really hoping don't happen and the young ones don't make a habit of. That said it looks like they got it out of their system pretty quick, most well bred dogs have pretty good instincts.
