  • We walk you through and demonstrate what you can expect when bending square tubing. Wall deformation, bend angle, radius and bending equipment are a few of the topics covered in this video.

    Very impressive,anybody who has tried to bend box section will testify to just how tricky it is to do without making a mess of it! This is so much easier than slaving away with home made formers,clamps,lots of heat and swearing!

    Thanks for a very well done video. It makes sense that you would have the concave bends as that metal has to go somewhere but I've never really understood until today. Thanks!

    Thank you for a very clear explanation of how this is done. Would you have a similar operation for low volume manual bends?

    Great information....I'm in the design process for fabricating a wrought iron security gate for my front porch; it has a brick archway and I want to make the gate curved to match the archway. Looks like I"ll probably end up taking my metal to a machine shop for the bends. I appreciate your video...especially the point you make about the thicker walled tubing. Can't believe people would dislike your information! Thanks again.

    This man in the video is a natural actor. I hope he gets involved in community theater. There are a lot of roles he could do well.

    Thanks I kinda already knew that the bends stretched metal has to go somewhere I've done a lot of torch heating and bending, never with a hydraulic press. I've been wanting to make a press with diffrent attachments electric or air, hand 2-4 ton jack I could make all kinds of neat stuff instead of cutting bending and welding that's a lot of steps especially if you have to make several the same thing and they all have to match.
    Thanks for sharing the video that explains why I see the dimples on curved square tubing.

    I use to build ski lifts and I bent bales which are the horse shoe shaped tubing hanging off the cable that holds the chair. usually 1"1/2 The bender we used was capable of bending 3" square tube and ours left the tube concave on each side.. very informative

    Great video...i have a pet project that will require a trough ie a 180 degree bent sheet metal. How best can i achieve this on the cheap? Do i need to roll a sheet metal?

    Did you bend the piece you were holding at 4:38 with one of your machines? That's a good bend for that size rhs

    Awsome, nice demonstration, informatively clear, and fairly simple,
    But you know?????
    I really think you could have put more emphasis on the several types of dies and what they will make ultimately, and even shown how the benders are set up and why.
    But, I like your video,👍

    Thanks for letting me know. I am trying to bend square rod like a H and hoped this could help, but, guess I will have to make my own failed or successful bend on that. ;) Thanks
    I have an idea on how to make it happen thanks to this vid though. ;)

    Mon I always wanted to learn to bend tubing I could make some killer stuff. Instead of cutting then bending and weld closed to make it look like it was bent but a lot of steps to get that bend. A bender would be much easier.

    Can this bend rectangle tubing?

  • @NativeEarthlingAI
    @NativeEarthlingAI 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Skip to 5:30 to actually see the bending. Up to that point: "square tube needs a deformation indent on inside and outside radius."

    Thanks for this video its helpful to explain to clients why I cant give them a perfectly square rolled tube despite having a good ring roller. I'm curious what type of roller or process would produce a rolled tube without the inner and outer deformation? Obviously more than a fabricator can afford- still curious. Something with a mandrel I guess?

    • @TrickTools
      @TrickTools  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep Mandrel bending is the only way

    Do the dimples compromise strength or steels integrity?

    • @TrickTools
      @TrickTools  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      its obviously not as strong as if the material were true to its original shape but its still very strong and doesn't compromise the integrity of the part enough to make it unusable

    • @gordbaker896

      Some are hydroformed. The closed tube is placed inside a strong steel mold and pressureized with water . The tube takes the shape of the mold. Very High Pressure!

      they would likely be stamped out on the plate sections then welded to the tube sections which are usually just bent

    • @TrickTools
      @TrickTools  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While there may be ways to do it without these tools, we recommend having the correct type of bender so that way the material strength is not compromised.
