    Dr Martin: you have the most balanced and generous critique of Vatican II that I have ever heard. The seminarians whom you teach are very, very fortunate.

    I keep faith. Even as I continue to struggle to support my children and myself I trust in you Jesus. Being a single mom things can be hard raising them alone. My husband passed years ago. Both of my children are autistic. I started homeschooling them last year and they are now thriving but unfortunately my hours to work are limited. I suffered a heart attack two years ago and Im battling lupus Lord I’m overwhelmed please heal me and give me strength. As I struggle to pay my rent each month and as I struggle to buy groceries. Honestly I want to give up. But I know God will make a way. Where there seems to be no way. I have faith! God has not forgotten me. Faith First! ❤

    If all are welcome into our church, it is by way of the door. The narrow door into the confessional.

    Thank you so much for keeping us on track with understanding through the chaos and your guidance now as we try to keep to the teachings of Christ and His Holy Catholic Church. Renewal Ministries is one of the few sources I rely on for leadership in these difficult times. Please keep guiding our world wide Church family as you all have been. 🙏🕊️

    Vatican II was a dose of fresh air and gave us a glance of what the church for all 2,000 years looked like. The biggest blessing was it saved our marriage.

    This talk proved to me (once again!) That Ralph Martin is the absolute best Catholic speaker/apologist today. Thank you so very much, Ralph, for consistently and bravely sharing these truths with us. I suspect that this one in particular for you was especially challenging as it dealt with the cause and effect of the "neglects" of the Second Vatican Council and even moreso the approach in its wake. The Council teachings are still shunned/ignored as are many of St. John Paul II's directives from over the years. God, make haste to help me!!!!

    I seem to recall a few years ago, a priest in Kerry Ireland, preached repentance from sin, and one of his parishoners was offended, reported him to his Bishop, and he was removed. The homily was on the internet, nothing untrue or unloving.

  • @JimCvit
    @JimCvit ปีที่แล้ว +8

    This is how a rebuke should sound. My own personal opinion is this is why we, the Church, are the state we are in. Until we are called to repentance and conversion the dark smoke will remain. The Holy Father seemed to do this with his consecration to the Immaculate Heart last year, but if seemed to be words only. I cry for us and the Church and God's people.

  • @RobHarmsOrg

    May I suggest that we all need the Lord to cleanse us from all traditions of men and doctrines of demons which affect our lives in any way so that we can do Father's will without the impediments of the world, the flesh and the devil?

    Your point that an all positive presentation is well made. The reality of sin and the need of a Savior are key parts of the Kerygma.

  • @matthewschmidt5069
    @matthewschmidt5069 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    The problem is not Vatican II, its recognizing the other councils as well. If you read Vatican II and Vatican I and Trent and so on youre fine. We cannot treat Vatican II as the only Council. The positivistic approach is balanced with Vatican I and Trent.

    Thank you, Dr Martin, for exhorting us to walk the narrow way of holiness to gain our salvation, which also means praying and making sacrifice for the salvation of all, united with the sacrifice of Jesus.
    Would that the Vatican follow your example...🙏🙏🙏

    Thank you for sharing these thoughts. I fully agree with the need to review how cathechism is taught, both to young children and to adults. I have to say I am a catholic who is also climate scientist, who was and is engaged in discussing environmental issues within the Church, together with Creation theologians. As I understand these issues, there are some important aspects that must be taken into account, which usually aren't. In first place what destroys Creation and destroys human life are the same sins, pride, greed, etc., i.e., these issues are two sides of the same coin. In such a context, prior to finding solutions to the socio-environmental crisis, which is the duty of us lay people, there is an urgent need for a strong and definate conversion to God of all of us. Without that, which, as you say is the main duty of the Church, any action, in these or any issues pertaining to the Social Doctrine of the Church, will just be cosmetic or patches, at best. Romans 8, 22-29 is very clear about this.

    Hi Ralph,
    I have the teachings on the "Doctors" of the Church from Renewal Ministries over the years. I remember what St Bernard of Clairveau said, to the effect that: Yes, to look at our sin (admitting our sins and confessing them) and at the Mercy of God. One can't be without the other. Also, I.believe the Church teaches that there are two extremes that are sinful "Presumption and Despair."
    God bless 🙌 🙏

    Thanks, Dr Ralph Martin for Renewal Ministries. My initial feeling though is that Vatican II cannot be responsible for our refusal to preach and teach the Gospel with intensity and urgency.
    And in respect of what you say about preaching repentance and salvation to the world, what's become of those of us who claim to be saved and living in Christ ? Look at the cooked lifestlyes and bad examples from our pastors and most of us ? How does that make the faith any attractive ?
    Vatican II underscored the need to respond to the love of God and live in holiness - the Call to Holiness. If thats not the Gospel, what else is ?

    I cannot respect anyone who throws the buzzword Pastoral around as an excuse to sin. Modernists need to stop doing it becuase it allow evil to thrive unopposed. Example:The pastor at my church said that no one can tell another that they are committing a mortal sin! How absurd!

    By pastoral strategy do you mean pastoral outlook or pastoral attitude of the Church? As an educator myself I agree with your last point about Catechesis, but i also believe that we need to repent for giving people a second hand account of things, under-estimating the human power to understand what has been said before. Also, to repent for not drawing people to the sources of Life and Truth found in both Supernatural sources and natural sources.

    Preach it, Ralph!💃🏻
    It seems there are those who subvert the positives of both Vatican I and Vatican II. Could you speak at some point about the trend among some to insist that everything Pope Francis says and does must be respected and followed, because he is the pope? I’ve seen the expression “hyperuberultramontanism.”

    Vatican II was so successful. The church has grown from a church of millions to a church of more than a billion souls, many in the Global South. Locally, it got my mom, a preVatican II style Catholic who chases relics and apparitions (not saying that's bad, this was my childhood, following paintings with bleeding tears and such) to one so did a Bible in a year program last year and has now read the Bible. As something like 90% of the child abuse cases were done by priests trained in the Trinidine mass, Vatican II has also been a success in that front, making us a church able to stop this attack by Satan.
