Hey guys, absolutely love the videos....and Warren, regardless of what some think or say I really enjoy the boat work videos. Although I may never get to experience the boat life I really love learning different skills and how too's from your videos. NOTE : Remember to show finished projects..... Ex: Starlink mounting project
We have had Gori props on our Astrea since new. After three years wouldn’t have anything else. But beware, they are not strong in reverse which isn’t a prob if you know. Enjoy. Tini & Peter - Smokyjim
Way to go, Tom! And crew! Interested to see how the copper coat pays off for you. So much work but hopefully worth the effort. Thank you for yet another fascinating and informative video. You guys rock!
We were lucky to have our Coppercoat done in a tent with no rain threat. It is so solid and hard. After sanding before launching the bottom shimmered like a shiny copper pan, reflecting the light on the water. We hauled after 2 1/2 years and there was noting that didn't blow off with a pressure washer. The haul was just a lift and look and a pitch change on the Maxprop, grease, new zincs, and inspect all before the passage to FP. A couple hours in thee slings and back in the water. We have friends in the marina here who have a Peterson 46 that has CC bottom that is 16 years old and still good. Had half its life in tropical waters. We saw this boat hauled and the bottom looked like new. And ours is so slick and smooth that i;'m sure it adds speed as well. And you won't be sanding that poison stuff anymore.
Wow… where to start. First of all Erica looks cute with her Maori face paint. I expected her to break out into a Haka. Thanks for showing the highs and the lows… every marriage has them and the fact that you guys can deal with the lows, and talk it out, is encouraging for us mere mortals. The boat looks stunning. I’ll definitely be checking out Tom’s channel(s)… he’s an absolute rock star.
Thank you Tom!! I feel like we are already friends cause you helped my friends. I was really surprised that y'all didn't jump straight into the water as soon as you anchored after splash!! I was wondering if you guys had a good swimming hole you could enjoy while being on the hard, but you clearly did not have time. I'm glad you indulged in a pool day though. You probably feel like dried up lizards, Two months in the states and a month on the hard......
i'm pretty sure I saw someone scip the last sanding part and complain it wasn't working and growing stuff. They talked to the company and found out they were screwed and had to take the boat out to fix it ! Read the Destructions,, i mean, instructions of course.
I have the same props on my boat. They're amazing. You will save fuel with the overdrive feature and reverse is fantastic. We picked up 1.5 to 2 knots of boat speed with the prop feathered under sail. Game changer.
Can’t believe you guys did the vinyl stripe to change the window look! I was just saying this to my husband about the oval windows how it somewhat dates the boat. We have looked at a few but didn’t like the older style windows. I said why don’t people put a black decal around the window to make it look like the new shape! It looks awesome guys! You boat is all stuffy now, that was a ton of work! Go and enjoy it now!
I'm building a 15' Cape Cod catboat in my backyard as a learning/experimental project and as a vessel for a singlehanded 2 year travel project (Great Loop). I'm homebrew hacking an epoxy-copper powder antifoul. The lower-leach and longer life prospect is also what I'm drawn to. As a modern wooden hull, I'm concerned about electrolysis with the copper, soI'm building with plastic-composite nails in the hull to hold things tight while epoxy cures.
Reason 1 - Because Copper looks awesome! Its a great deal as you are paying material and labor costs in today dollars - while it is expensive and a PITA now, it simplifies your future and even saves money across its lifetime. Very excited to see this
Love to see your cutting jig for the vinyl! And really interested to see how well the coppercoat works-- shit loads of work but if its every 10 years.... Phil
In Cali now acetone is 20$ a gallon. Our CC cost 110$ a kit four years ago. The price of paradise all happens on land. And remore islands have a big premium on everything. Every boat we worked with in our loft in lahaina was asked to carry stuff south. Many things in FP have a 100% duty. Better to have what you did done than have money though. Money won't make you as happy as the newfound boatspeed from that slick bottom and the low drag prop. Great job on all. And for getting past the divorce thingy.
Well done and looks great 👍 but I might have missed it, what about the strip of keel that the boat was resting on? I didn't see you doing any touch up for that bottom bit
In the swimming pool industry, we used to mix our own anti-algae stuff (mainly copper based) because it was a fraction of the price of the name brand version. I wonder if you could mix in some copper powder into a standard epoxy based anti foul and get good results?
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice 😊 👍🏻 That was fun 🎉🎉🎉. We are also going to do Copper Coat. I can only hope I will manage the stress as well when it is our turn.....soon. See you next time. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
I hope it works out for you. The paint looks too thick to roll which creates an un-smooth orange peel surface. Which in turn necessitates more sanding to the point where there is hardly any copper coat left on the hull.
This may be a question for the manufacturers. And i could be totally wrong here. But it seems like it would make more sense to spray it on for a more uniform coating with less texturing from the rollers. More like automotive painting. Which would mean less sanding to expose the copper.
Congratulations, a job VERY well done. VA looks great and I'm really happy that you didn't get a divorce, because the stress of a haulout and splash are stupidly horrible.
The man, the myth, the Tom. What an amazing human. Guys, it will be great to see you back under sail and Warren a little more relaxed. I was waiting for Erica to throat punch or duct tape Warren's butt cheeks together. Cheers and fair winds from Chicago
Well yes, sort of; we are charting a larger, more accommodating catamaran in Greece for a week and charging people for that charter, food, and drink.. so yes
No because it gets released (wears off) so slowly that even if everyone used coppercoat, it would still be less copper released yearly that is the case right now…
here we go again with the profanity at the very end....unsubscribe and dislike...had enough of this channel....subscribe for a while and you keep it clean and you do it again.
Randall, why do you believe that you can tell others what to do and they will obey? You must have a miserable life trying to control others. Bye Randall 😭
11:25 TOM!!!!! What up bruh?!?!?!?
Tom is the best.
He really is!
I can't believe Tom was working for room and board...wow...he's a crazy legend.
He is working REALLY hard for "free" but you've gotta love his life.

Should be more fun racing Colin now. At least it'll be an even race with your new prop😊

YES!! Thats what I wanted to hear!!!!
Tom has Legend status which is even better than good guy status.

Great job and a lot of work. Thank goodness for Tom. Warren, why did you not paint the sail drives with Coppercoat as well?
aluminium dissimilar metals
Bloody expensive three weeks 😮
Good on you Tom, very generous of you.

Also, why do yall not paint the propeller "shaft?" Copper?
Almost Heaven! Great job guys - now back to your sailing life.... woo hoo!

brutal work!

So happy to see VA back in the water!
Well done Tom not just a helping hand a legend

Yeah. Brown and sluggish green are colors attracting people… 🙄🤣
Great episode it was interesting to learn about the copper bottom. Tom what a great guy.
Love to see your cutting jig for the vinyl! And really interested to see how well the coppercoat works-- shit loads of work but if its every 10 years.... Phil
Tom is awesome!
Groovy episode. So much hard work. Well done, well done indeed.

Great job team! All of you!!!

Tom the man that looked like a lot of very hard shifts. Please take time to drink more beer then you should for a week or three.
WA looks good 🎉 👍
Well done and looks great 👍 but I might have missed it, what about the strip of keel that the boat was resting on? I didn't see you doing any touch up for that bottom bit
Best of luck
I hope the cooper paint meets your expectations

Very cool the boat looks awesome. What a Fantastic job!
Va looks amazing you guys. Well done.
Hi Guys your boat looks great after all your hard work. Am I right the last time I saw Tom Hudson was on Parley Revival?
I hope it works out for you. The paint looks too thick to roll which creates an un-smooth orange peel surface. Which in turn necessitates more sanding to the point where there is hardly any copper coat left on the hull.
You guys are great. Awesome channel, well done!
Awesome job guys.
Boat looks fast!
The boat looks damn good. The copper coat, the new vinyl stripes make it a very sexy looking cat
Wow! Looks like a hell of a job. Are you living on the boat while it’s out of the water? That must be unpleasant.
Damn that looks good , y'all did great awesome job🎉😅
This may be a question for the manufacturers. And i could be totally wrong here.
But it seems like it would make more sense to spray it on for a more uniform coating with less texturing from the rollers.
More like automotive painting.
Which would mean less sanding to expose the copper.
Yes I agree and in the states I would have pushed for that but apparently spraying this product is very difficult
Congratulations, a job VERY well done. VA looks great and I'm really happy that you didn't get a divorce, because the stress of a haulout and splash are stupidly horrible.
Folding props ... check. Clean bottom ... check. Racing stripe ... check. Time for Parlay rematch!! 😂
RIGHT!!??!!! LETS GOOOOO
So much FASTER! I’m saying you SMOKE PARLAY REVIVAL 🤭 next time!
WE WILL!! It may be a while, be we are heading that way!!
YeaaYAAAAAAA! ITS ON!
Just think Warren, with all that copper in yours pores no banicles will grow on you when your in the water.lol Great vid!
❤❤
How's the coppercoat working out?
Why did you not apply protection on the sail drives & the new props?
Did you clear this with SV Delos?
The man, the myth, the Tom. What an amazing human. Guys, it will be great to see you back under sail and Warren a little more relaxed. I was waiting for Erica to throat punch or duct tape Warren's butt cheeks together. Cheers and fair winds from Chicago
How much copper is in coppercoat??
Did I near that right? Are you charging people to co e sail with you?
Well yes, sort of; we are charting a larger, more accommodating catamaran in Greece for a week and charging people for that charter, food, and drink.. so yes
Are you worried about copper poisoning
No because it gets released (wears off) so slowly that even if everyone used coppercoat, it would still be less copper released yearly that is the case right now…
Pay attention; I think it is not to smart to be sanding all that copper dust while you are naked, sir.
here we go again with the profanity at the very end....unsubscribe and dislike...had enough of this channel....subscribe for a while and you keep it clean and you do it again.
The language used is natural and not excessive in my opinion.
Randall, why do you believe that you can tell others what to do and they will obey? You must have a miserable life trying to control others. Bye Randall 😭
Come on man… their sailors and humans 😤
Ever heard the saying ,cuss like a sailor ?
😅😅😅
Great job guys!
